This would not surprise me at all. In fact it aligns very well with the type of people who would have no problem doing reprehensible things for a tyrant. It may not be everyone one of the, but the overlap is probably large.

This is the biggest story in the country and the discussions backstage are sprawling across all kinds of lines. It's worth being mindful of how much psychic damage this is causing and not drowning in that.

I will say that the tendrils of attempted control are moving into attempted (and stopped) freezes of childcare money, of agricultural money, transportation money, education money, and of food support for the poor money.

The thugs are not able to wield effective control, so they're promising violence to their opposition, encouraging "their guys" to commit that violence with the understanding that there will be no punishment and that this is morally good, ethically fine, and even the "smart move". The media editors at several major papers and channels are quiet right wing assholes who edit coverage and headlines and they still can't put coherent stories that are well reported in front of us.

The flurry of shit is big, yet it's not coordinated well and much of it is driven to punish people for opposing them, for not following the "right" gender roles, for daring to work towards the rich paying their fair taxes, and for moving to better things in healthcare, childcare, and mass transit.

There are going to be people who pop in on this forum and actively say that the videos of people getting taken away by masked thugs, shot, beaten, pepper sprayed, and more are the justified actions of a great government and person.
