I think the problem is that Occam's Razor applies here and essentially the simplest explanation is the correct one. 2A tend to be very right wing / Republican from all my interactions with Americans, and they are the sorts who are mostly cheering for what is going on.
Now I'm not going to say this applies for ALL of them but the prevailing attitude seems to be 'we hate tyranny unless that tyranny is against minority groups we dislike' and then here we are at the current juncture.
