'Legality' is an amorphous concept that reshapes itself around DJT in unpredictable ways, but a lawsuit on the matter of the National Guard will be filed today. But other than that, yeah. Los Angeles (and last week, San Diego -- not to mention, Minneapolis and Boston outside of CA) were raided by the gestapo, who were met with significant pushback by Americans protecting their neighborhoods from attack. The fascists want to make an example of California, for obvious reasons, thus DJT escalating things with the National Guard. Outcome: TBD.

And from what I understand (and I could be wrong), Sending Federal Guard in not just without Gavin Newsom's approval, but literally AGAINST his wishes is the technical letter of the Insurrection Act and thus, martial law in all but name?


Also that Military Parade in DC on the 14th for his birthday? I mean, moving TANKS into your capital under the guise of a parade is pretty transparent...like when those tanks just "Stay" there, everyone should be prepared for that eventuality...because that's the plan. Also every tweet of Trump in the last 48 hours have been Stephen Miller....100% Trump didn't write those. It was Miller. They all feature his particular flavour of racially charged nationalistic BS.


I heard audio of like a 3 year old being torn from her mom who was being taken, and her dad trying to comfort her....like if anyone who voted for Trump can listen to that and be okay with it, they are fucking GHOULS.


Newsome needs more teeth than he's kind of showing...he should be in the streets, with a megaphone, offering support on the ground, speeches, hope. This is LITERALLY a moment that will be carved into history, and if he really wanted to lead them he would become a beacon to all his constituents in this time. That he has failed to rise to that is disappointing.

While the Insurrection Act was not invoked, what was invoked is an aspect of the wishy-washy legality of the order. Maybe worth saying Gavin Newsom is an eel, and may only step up to the degree that it benefits his political aspirations. That isn't to say the opportunity won't arise or that he's a coward, only that the incentive for him won't be "doing the right thing" in and of itself. Another TBD.

Combined with the lack of due process being given those "arrested" by ICE, that will about do it for tourism to the US from European countries (Canadian visits are way down). Though I hear that tourism from the Gulf States is up. Another nail in the coffin of US alliances as well.

Hopefully the protests in LA stay mostly peaceful. It is pretty obvious the publicized ICE raids and subsequent deployment of National Guards and Marines are intended to incite violent protests. Which can then be used to justify further escalation.

But then again, even if the protests are mostly peaceful, the administration will just lie about how much violence and looting there was and may escalate anyway. The whole National Guard thing is another instance where having to rely on the courts is idiocy. The law plainly states he can't do this. He does it anyway. Now someone has to file suit and then wait for a judge to say it was illegal. Which will be appealed etc. Meanwhile, the guards cause damage and unrest in LA.

LEGIT. We have friends in the states, and we've told them that as long as Trump is in power we will not be entering the USA. My wife and kids are blonde and blue eyed, but I look asian enough to get stopped and I'm not risking that shit.

This. They are already doing this. There's a group on social media trying to contend with this by showing the mostly peaceful protests, but the US has the Russia Bot machine working in overdrive in the comment sections and with videos of the more "battleground" looking shit.
