So she claims she can’t be sued for libel because no reasonable person can believe the things she says are true. The ‘tucker Carlson’ defense!

I can only imagine that a lawyer who tried to open court cases based on this lie, who had the president repeating it and who had affidiavits ant get away with this defense. I hope she suffers the consequences of her actions and gets a very rude wake up call.

The defense itself could hold up. What the plaintiffs should do, then, is go to whomever was the defendant in the other suit, and ask them to request a contempt hearing for Trump and co, since they filed a frivolous and vexatious politically motivated lawsuits in the first place, and have confirmed that this was done in bad faith.

Not that something like this is likely to happen retroactively, but one could dream.

By saying that no reasonable person can believe this, its implied that they thought the court was below the threshold of being a reasonable person... Like... isn't that the kind of thing any judge would take umbrage at?

Not really, it's more like you're confessing you brought a case you knew had no chance of winning, thus wasting everyone's time.

Still a sign of disrespect (and directly contradicting our Code of Conduct, in LSUC's case), but not to such a degree- more of a "I'm willing to abuse the system" than "I think everyone's an idiot".

I would assume the legal test she's attempting to apply is that of the Moron in a Hurry. But that's only been applicable in respect of copyright infringement as far as I know.

Not really sure where to put this.

What's people's thoughts on how the unionisation vote will go at Amazon's Alabama warehouse facility?

The anti union stance and the anti union regulations in most US states must be partially to blame for the terrible treatment of workers and worker rights in the US.

Oh absolutely.

I'm just wondering if they vote to unionise will it have a rolling impact across other Amazon facilities, and as such a large employer if it fully unionises (it probably won't, but one can hope) what kind of impact it would have on the labour force treatment in America in general

The usual suspects will crush it and in that uniquely American way they will have the stupid masses thanking them for saving the USA from socialism or some such retarded drivel.

Ignoring the fact that (racist practices aside) 50s/60s America was far more equal financially and unionised than the "left" wing of today would even dream of pushing

Yes, I've always found that funny but I'm sure it would sail over the head of those who profess to hate socialism, while collecting their benefit cheques et al.

Ted Cruz is unabashedly setting himself up to run for president in 2024 (that POS theatrical, drama club failure). I'll eat my hat if I am wrong. I expect you guys to hold me to that.

I'm picturing the first time a weather disaster hits the US during President Cruz first term and he jumps on the Airforce One to travel to mexico - Because the kids really wanted to go on vacation and his gay boyfriend loves Cancun.

'Matt Gaetz Is Said to Be Investigated Over Possible Sexual Relationship With a Girl, 17

An inquiry into the Florida congressman was opened in the final months of the Trump administration

[age of consent is 18 in Florida]

Representative Matt Gaetz, Republican of Florida and a close ally of former President Donald J. Trump, is being investigated by the Justice Department over whether he had a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old and paid for her to travel with him[...]

Investigators are examining whether Mr. Gaetz violated federal sex trafficking laws, the people said. A variety of federal statutes make it illegal to induce someone under 18 to travel over state lines to engage in sex in exchange for money or something of value. The Justice Department regularly prosecutes such cases, and offenders often receive severe sentences.

[...] part of a broader investigation into a political ally of his, a local official in Florida named Joel Greenberg, who was indicted last summer on an array of charges, including sex trafficking of a child and financially supporting people in exchange for sex, at least one of whom was an underage girl.

[...] Gaetz said[,] "I have a suspicion that someone is trying to recategorize my generosity to ex-girlfriends as something more untoward."

[...] Gaetz has recently mused with confidants about quitting elected politics and taking a full-time job with the conservative television channel Newsmax or another network[...]

[...] Gaetz invited a right-wing Holocaust skeptic to the State of the Union address in 2018, and attended an event last year where he said the Proud Boys had provided security[...] When Democrats moved in 2019 to impeach Mr. Trump for the first time, Mr. Gaetz and a phalanx of Republicans following him barged past Capitol Police into the secure rooms of the House Intelligence Committee to briefly break up the investigation into the president.

[...] Gaetz was the only member of Congress to vote against a law that gave the federal government more power and money to fight human trafficking.'

Yep. I've seen the articles about this as "terrible human being is accused of something bad enough Republicans won't support him." Similar to Roy Moore.

Tucker Carlson and Matt Gaetz trying to destroy each other on live TV is not the narrative I thought 2021 would bring me, but I’m SUPER glad it did.

https://www.thewrap....aetz-interview/

When these Republican talking slugs eat each other for being as awful as one another…*chefs kiss*

Also, the end of that article talks about Gaetz possibly leaving Congress to work at NewsMax? LOL. This means the accusation 100% has teeth and he knows he's getting busted...and he's trying to wiggle out.

Hey 'Republican Snake Tale Eating Apparatus'...now do Gym Jordan! I guarantee that guy is just as filthy as Gaetz is in his closet.
