It's really interesting to see the GOP turncoats, like Lindsey Graham and McConnell, change their tune but ONLY after the Capitol was stormed by their crazy, uncontrollable Frankenstein monster of Trump supporters they've been enabling for years.

There's a picture of that Markwayne Mullin dude from Oklahoma COWERING IN FEAR in the Rotunda yesterday...this is a man who was one of the many who was ready to openly DEFY the election results a bare day earlier....and there he was like a scared little bitch when the very Coup he helped happen...came knocking at his door.

Leopard's ate my face indeed.

I want every single GOP who was on the list of people ready to reject the election results...to have to answer TOUGH questions about their place as a public servant and their actions in the last few months.

With your two posts you both imply that the police were present and where preventing worse case scenarios by confiscating and arresting would be terrorist and at the same time imply they were in cahoots with the deplorables.

I think it's both. I also think the Republicans wanted the Trumpsters to break into the capital.

But that's not what my discussion with Macros was about.

I think the police aren't a monolithic entity and that while pipebombs were discovered and defused, there were still police that were kinda fine with people carrying guns, zip ties, pepper spray, and confederate flags breaking into the Capitol and assaulting the police themselves. Sure, there were probably police who tried everything to stop that, but they are outnumbered and the end result was the same: an armed mob rioted in the Capitol yesterday.

It's worth noting that the KKK operates on the same level of dumbass theatricality combined with deadly consequences.

We can certainly agree that there's something rotten in the police enforcement.

Also surprising that no suspiciously well placed, tempting stacks of cobblestone magically showed up around the Capital yesterday.

You're probably right man. It's such a shitty situation that they can get away with that.

zip ties,

Seeing people with these should be FAR more chilling to people than it is.....zip ties are for taking hostages. The fact that you can see them fistfuls of zip ties means they went in there with he intent that they'd be taking hostages and zip tying them.

That's insane.

My best friend works in the NY state senate, which is in the state capitol. The Proud Boys showed up yesterday and there were fights between them and counter-protestors.

A Trump supporter smashed a woman in the face with a flag stick and things got really out of hand. Two Trump supporters got stabbed by a counter-protestor (one is seriously wounded). https://www.timesuni...HP-CP-Spotlight

This was a lower level of violence than what happened in DC, yet similar situations were happening in several other states. I think Arizona, Georgia, and New Mexico preemptively evacuated their capitols.

Given that Congress has gone into recess for two weeks, I think we see more acts like this soon. There's little to no pushback on the right wing actions.

Was yesterday the first time a confederate flag flew inside the Capitol?

I went to bed last night and thought of that poor lady who got shot and died. And, I was doing my best to not get mad.

What a pathetic waste of a life. For what? Why is this lady (and 3 others who died because of conditions) gone today? Removed from the world in the blink of an eye for WHAT? For Donald fucking Trump? No, I think he's the accelerant on the fire. The hate. The desperation. The who knows what the fuck that is emotionally and mentally fueling these people.

That lady woke up yesterday and thought this was a practical, logical idea. That this was something that needed doing and needed doing so badly she had to do it. For the life of me I cannot wrap my head around it.

What has her so damn afraid and desperate? Demonrats/socialists/radical liberal, whatever your term of art, aren't exactly the type known for huge acts of violence in a rational world. That's the key. Their world has become irrational.

What most people, even those who "despise" liberals or Democrats, ultimately realize that 4 years of Biden and 2 years of Pelosi aren't going to end their world. 4 more years of Trump might have caused some major fucking damage, but not enough to make me so desperate that I would become so unhinged that I feel my own life, my own livelihood, my family, my country were in imminent danger of being destroyed. Yes, long term the trend is bad, but that's long term. There is urgency here that I cannot comprehend. That sense of absolute disregard for your own damn well-being.

This is what in order fuel that: Fox News/Conservative media who have created a warped reality; Republicans or members of any damn party who feed into that warped reality without speaking a semblance of truth; and Trump and his flunkies who are willing to burn everything down because they are so fucking selfish.

It's sickening and heartbreaking. That lady's family... my god.

Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

Publicly? Maybe inside. I think. Can't recall any images INSIDE the building.

Privately? I seriously doubt it. Like HAIL HYDRA shit going on in there surely at times.

'According to her social media accounts, she was a[...] follower of QAnon, the mass delusion that preposterously claims Trump is fighting a deep state cabal of child abusers.

[...] "Ashli was both loyal as well as extremely passionate about what she believed in," brother-in-law Justin Jackson told NBC San Diego. "She loved this country and felt honored to have served in our Armed Forces. Please keep her family in your thoughts and respect their privacy during this time."

[...] Babbitt served in Afghanistan and Iraq in the Air Force and was later deployed to Kuwait and Qatar with the National Guard.

[...] the 35-year-old woman remarried after splitting with McEntee and started a pool supply company with her new husband, Aaron Babbitt.

Posts on her social media show she donned QAnon T-shirts at Trump events in San Diego, used hashtags common to the movement like #WWG1WGA, and repeatedly retweeted QAnon accounts.

Most recently, she repeatedly retweeted Lin Wood, a conspiracy theorist and an attorney who pushed false theories about mass fraud during the presidential election.

[...] "I'm like really heated all of a sudden," she says in a video posted while she is visibly driving. "I'm so sick about of these politicians in this goddamned state. I can't take it anymore. They're all worried about Trump is doing. How about we worry about what the hell you've done?!"

"I am so tired of this," she says. "I am woke, man."'

So Trump has finally said he's committed to a peaceful transfer of power. No guarantee he won't still try something, though hopefully the VP, Cabinet, and armed forces will be vigilant and enough Cabinet members will agree to remove him (for 4 days at least... 2/3rds Senate vote for removal after that might still be difficult).

They seem to have a MAGA combat kit. I know bear repellent/mace is another must have and something they quickly rely on. I've seen them spraying it at almost every conflict there is video of. It led to the death of MAGAer when he sprayed bear repellent at a news reporter in Denver and the hired security shot him.

I highly doubt that was actually him. From what I've read no one is able to talk to him even in his inner circle. So I bet that most of the sensible shit supposedly coming out of him now is written by an aide and decided by Pence or someone else.

Has anyone even SEEN Trump today? I don't think he's been physically seen since the video he recorded yesterday. Everything "official" since then has seemed not like him at all.

Also, that woman who died...had 2 kids...imagine...she woke up yesterday and decided that she was going to put her life on the line and possibly orphan her kids...all for Donald Trump. It's so insane.

Oh, and has everyone see the video of the woman who got pepper sprayed by the cops? It's the funniest and saddest thing I've yet seen...

Not funny. Sad. Pathetic. Unnecessary.

Ultimately a tragic event that is as predictable as it is unnecessary. For WHAT? What were they actually preventing? If they think Congress is filled with pedophiles and murderers... what's been the hold-up? Oh yeah, someone in a position of responsibility giving them the green light.

Fuck Trump. Impeach him and remove him from office. Try him for reckless homicide.
