'Philadelphia DA Promises to Criminally Charge Trump's DHS Troops if They "Kidnap" Protesters

[...]

Trump threatened to send federal troops into the city on Monday evening.

"Anyone, including federal law enforcement, who unlawfully assaults and kidnaps people will face criminal charges from my office," Krasner continued. "At trial, they will face a Philadelphia jury. It's the least we can do to honor those who fought fascism, including those who are fighting it even now."

The prospect of federal officers being arrested by local police for following orders would be unprecedented, and it is not clear if the Philadelphia Police Department would cooperate with such requests.

[...] Krasner has aggressively pursued police misconduct since taking office in 2018, and his office suggested that the local police force would swimmingly agree to such moves.

"Our office charges police officers with crimes pretty regularly, not because Philly Police are necessarily more likely to engage in criminal behavior, but because District Attorney Krasner applies the law to everyone equally. Anyone who comes into the city and assaults people or grabs them off the streets without legal justification should be investigated and if the facts warrant, criminally prosecuted – regardless of their badge or title or whatever else," a statement to Law&Crime by Krasner spokesperson Jane Roh says. "When our office does open investigations into law enforcement personnel, we generally work with Philly Police to make arrests – whether assigned to the department or to our office (where they are referred to as DA Detectives)."'

(Fed is on the right; in fairness, some of them have 'police' on their outfits)

'Portland mayor tear gassed after speaking with protesters on presence of federal agents

The video shows Wheeler, wearing goggles and a face mask amid a crowd of people, hold his nose and close his eyes in distress as a cloud of tear gas drifts by him.

"It stings. It's hard to breathe. I can tell you with 100% honesty I saw nothing that provoked this response," Wheeler said to the Times camera. "I'm not afraid but I am pissed off."

It's unknown at this time who is responsible for deploying the tear gas and there is nothing to indicate the mayor was targeted. Portland Police said they did not deploy any CS gas, a commonly used type of tear gas.'

This clown will continue breaking all the constitutional rules like this until he is out of office, or the rest of the GOP stops allowing him to get away with it. The emoluments violations alone are in the double digits by now...

The buck fucking stops at McConnell's turtle shell and all of the sycophants lined up behind him.

Until then, ALL of these little and big misuses of power will go utterly unchecked...proving the US system of "checks and balances" to be a load of fucking hooey.

'Trump Is Now Openly Defying the Supreme Court

The Trump administration announced on Tuesday that it will continue to defy a federal court order compelling the full restoration of DACA, the Obama-era program that allows 700,000 immigrants to live and work in the United States legally. By doing so, the administration has chosen to flout a decision by the Supreme Court, effectively rejecting the judiciary’s authority to say what the law is. [...] Now the administration has crossed that line—sprinted past it, really, without any apparent hesitation.

[...] It is no surprise that DHS, whose agents are unconstitutionally kidnapping and brutalizing peaceful protesters in Portland, Oregon, would disregard the law. Trump is doubling down on his smash-and-grab approach to governance. While the president demands law and order and Attorney General William Barr complains about mass disrespect of authority, the administration is intent on getting its way even when it means ignoring a federal court order. The president’s men are restrained only by their own sense of what they can get away with.'

Okay, now those checks and balances should be coming into play, right America?....who deals with a rogue administration that is ignoring the law as set down by the Supreme Court? If it's supposed to be Barr, and the DOJ, then you are all truly fucked. If all that stood between your country and a tyrannical despot was a man who just keeps on doing what he's doing because no one is going to actually stop him (be that by fucking arresting him, or even charging him, or those sycophants who are following his orders)...then your country's much-lauded laws are not worth the paper they were written on.

"....if you can keep it."

Apparently you can't.

Watching from another country, I can't help but be sad for all the people stuck under this regime and its utter disregard for the law.

Funnily enough, this is right out of Roy Cohn's Conman playbook that he taught Trump...."it doesn't matter if you're wrong, or if it's "legal", you bull and push your way through and then who is going to question you when you're already on the other side of the offence"

Like this is not only what he does, it's what he's always done. How do you stop a runaway conman in a country where the laws only seem to apply to the poor?

Mystery seeds from China showing up in the mail all over the country. 1st I’m hearing of it. I haven’t received anything. This has me like “What!?” with a raised right eyebrow.

This kind of stuff always baffles me...like it's just seeds. Don't plant them and you'll be fine.

Are American's boneheaded enough to plant random seeds they got sent in the mail from some prankster in China? Enough that they need their gov't to tell them not to plant them? LOL

What if it's magic beans? You'd be a fool not to plant at least a few of them.

'Authorities have said they believe the packages are part of a "brushing" scam in which online sellers send out unsolicited packages to help boost their ratings. So far, the USDA says it has no evidence that the seed deliveries are anything more than that.

HOW DO "BRUSHING" SCHEMES WORK?
There are a few different variations of the scam, but one version is that sellers create fake customer accounts, buy their own products—usually very cheap or worthless versions of products—and send them to people's homes in other countries. The online customer accounts might be fake, but the addresses are real, and the sellers can then use those accounts to register real deliveries, post glowing reviews of the products, and improve their rankings on e-commerce sites like Amazon or eBay.'

Maybe some Chinese entrepeneur has heard that lots of people are wanting to suck seed in America?
