I genuinely don't get this thing with playing the national anthem before each sports event and people standing up etc. Whenever we visit American shows here in the UK, like a WWE event, they sometimes start with singing the British national anthem as well, as if they seriously expect that anyone in the crowd is going to give a toss. Nobody stands for it, nobody pays it any attention. It is just waiting until the cringeworthy situation disappears. That's the only sentiment I have when seeing it: cringing. It is disturbingly nationalist. Brrr.

Booker is an interesting person to watch for maybe an hour total during the week. He's very driven by media attention.

My biggest problem with his policies is his huge support of charter schools in the Governor Christie plan and Booker's continued hops into the pockets of the extremely strong NJ pharmaceutical lobbyists.

He's stayed strongly Democratic in votes, but he's not someone like Warren or Sanders, who will be at the forefront of something groundbreaking and left leaning. He's much more like Schumer or Clinton the senator. Centrist, not all that interested in fighting the dirty tactics used by the Republicans.
