Amph said "starting" a war, that's what I took issue with....fighting one against an oppressor is of course altruistic.

While I agree with the anti-Bush and anti-McCain sentiments, let's not forget that Saddam's oppressive regime was particularly bad, as modern actual tyrannies go. There was probably some sincere, naive belief that Iraq would be better off as a democracy, and that the magic of democracy would spread through the region bringing enlightenment---and it was almost certainly mixed up with superstitious Christian nonsense and other calamitous forms of wishful thinking.

And while a true eulogy for McCain's political career would be more of an indictment of the contemporary Republican party and Trump than anything else, he did supposedly do one heroic thing as a POW: 'McCain's refusal to accept early release from the camp because other prisoners with less prominent connections had priority was an act of self-sacrifice and honor few of us [...] can imagine living up to.'

Trump blasting sessions for pressing charges against Republicans.

That's a warning sign that should set off alarm bells!

I genuinely don't get this thing with playing the national anthem before each sports event and people standing up etc. Whenever we visit American shows here in the UK, like a WWE event, they sometimes start with singing the British national anthem as well, as if they seriously expect that anyone in the crowd is going to give a toss. Nobody stands for it, nobody pays it any attention. It is just waiting until the cringeworthy situation disappears. That's the only sentiment I have when seeing it: cringing. It is disturbingly nationalist. Brrr.

Yesterday, upon the stair, I saw a man who wasn't there. He wasn't there again today. Oh, how I wish he'd go away.

Because they've co-opted the word patriotic to mean a horrible tribal nationalism and to be unpatriotic is the worst possible thing.

And I just saw the stuff Trump is saying about Sessions too. Apparently he is personally lobbying Republican people to get them on his side to help him fire Sessions. Mueller is closing in and he's getting desperate...

I saw this. It's fascinating to watch the very people who would have had Obama on the ropes for dating to wear a brown suit...sit back silent when their leader acts like a mob boss pissed off with his underlings getting legitimately taken down.

Like he thinks it's perfectly normal for the HEAD of the U.S. DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE...to sway away from criminal proceedings against Republicans who broke the law...because it might mean more votes for the GOP in November.

Like what the actual fuck? In what universe is he getting away with saying this?

Megan is far from an idiot.

Meghan does the thing that made her father famous as a politician - objecting loudly to one bad thing and then quietly or even publicly supporting what led to that one bad thing. Here she is defending the hard-line immigration platform of Trump and Sessions and Miller on the View minus the children in cages thing because that's going too far: https://splinternews...rati-1826834905

Her husband, Ben Domenech, is a plagiarist multiple times caught who then started and runs the Federalist, which is mostly a pack of right wing lies. She met and married him after he was caught doing the plagiarized articles and his grift of "approachable Republicanism" is essentially her grift.

Her silver spoons self has no real credentials on any topic politically and her previous ditzy treatment of the "being John's moderately good looking daughter in DC" was lampooned on Alpha House with the character Cici Biggs.

She's an idiot and no amount of vague Trump denouncing in a speech makes up for her defending/supporting Trump when it actually matters.

I feel like you should explain why instead of just saying "trust me"...

Booker is an interesting person to watch for maybe an hour total during the week. He's very driven by media attention.

My biggest problem with his policies is his huge support of charter schools in the Governor Christie plan and Booker's continued hops into the pockets of the extremely strong NJ pharmaceutical lobbyists.

He's stayed strongly Democratic in votes, but he's not someone like Warren or Sanders, who will be at the forefront of something groundbreaking and left leaning. He's much more like Schumer or Clinton the senator. Centrist, not all that interested in fighting the dirty tactics used by the Republicans.

Of course, that's gold standard term of trustworthiness.

Booker is also notoriously prone to siding with whoever waves those Benjamins in front of him, though he does seem to respond to public pressure as well. Kind of a jellyfish on the tides.

On another note, the Bob Woodward book excerpts popping up today all seem to say 'buckle up for a wild ride':

They came with white hands and left with red hands.

She's clearly playing The Circle Game.

EDIT: Also, I think Beto O'Rourke would be a great 2020 candidate.

That was my thought. I didn't even know that was a white power symbol.

It's also an Illuminati/satanic symbol. So I think we are walking in Alex Jones territory with some of these Twitter posts.
