As a general rule the comments are better at places with a bit of a learning curve. You know, like Malazan Empire, or The Economist.

NYT and WSJ are far more sane than Politico, for example, but they are really not far above middling. Huffington Post type places are middling. I do read Politico-type comments sometimes just to remind myself that there are idiot liberals too, but that's about as deep as I like to go (which is somewhat below middling). Any lower than that is reserved for those occasional moods where crazy is entertaining.
Edit: worry, thanks for the pic. It goes well with Hillary's comments.
