Sorry. For the record though I was reacting to your post, not doubling down on Venge's gallows humor. That said, I think it's born of real fear and not something we should easily toss aside w/ Godwin's Law. Reminded me of this sharp Tweetstorm from yesterday, on how fascists increase their power by gradually testing what people are willing to accept: https://storify.com/...-testing-people

Where I have hope is that I think there's a big enough group of people who care, enough that we won't fail the tests.

It is possible for fear to be both real and unwarranted at the same time.

Yeah, but just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they aren't after you.

Turns out that when Trump said "drain the swamp" he meant the Everglades, not D.C.

I can't tell if you're trolling or you're still on that "climate change isn't a problem for generations, if at all" tip. If it's the latter, you may be in for a rude awakening.

The coast ain't gonna be the coast for long. The mass displacements aren't in the distant future, or even at the tail end of our generation's span.

Is there a third thing after geometric and exponential? Cuz that's how it's gonna be.

Luckily I was asking myself the same question last week.

Tetration then pentation then hexation.

Source

The article doesn't seem to mention whether it can just keep going after hexation or whether it is mathematically capped at that level.

That's the other thing, right? Even if you take global warming out of the equation -- which you shouldn't, but let's give it a whirl -- environmental recklessness (pollution, overconsumption, mass waste, single-use plastic, etc) is still a death warrant.

Maybe Trump's strategy is like a Baelor's Sept kinda plan? Get all the worst picks in the Capitol Building to be confirmed plus every member of Congress, nuke the Capitol from orbit, then set about rebuilding the government from the ground up.

Actually no, that can't be it. Then Trump would still have Chris Christie in the running for AG...

Man, Gov McCrory of North Carolina lost his election but is dragging out the officiating of it by making dozens of complaints, w/ the apparent plan to have it declared a "contested election" by the legislature, allowing it to decide the election in his favor. I bring it up because a) it's so slimy and  this is the man who's to this day defending that horrible restroom (plus tons of other discrimination) law in NC -- and enough voters decided they were sick of him -- and it might not matter anyway if he gets his way. This is the election that keeps on giving.

Why did the poorest vote for someone like Trump who on his own stands for everything that is against them, let alone being the candidate for a party that basically wants to cut off their only income? And that's just for starters.

Anti-establishment. I really dont think diminishing and belittling Trump voters is helpful. It reduces a very real and complex socio-economic problem to simplistic finger-pointing. A large part of the Trump voters are well-educated middle to high income families. The real enemy is fear of change and social divisions, which are sustained and enlarged by sticking labels on groups with a different opinion than your own.
