In other news (for "poetry"---like math---"is news that STAYS news")... Trump is now simply defying court orders. He has become our dictator. Congress ain't gonna do diddly squat, and the courts have negligible law enforcement forces of their own relative to the executive. Those that rebel will be cast out into the hell that is the absence of Trump's love (and employment) to burn with most of the rest of the world.

Quote

A federal judge said on Monday that the White House had defied his order to release billions of dollars in federal grants, marking the first time a judge has expressly declared that the Trump administration is disobeying a judicial mandate.

In theory the country could be ran by the rich and AI while keeping the peasants around for farming, construction, etc. This could help them since they are deporting immigrants that typically do these jobs, so we’d move to former bankers harvesting crops because well they have to live somehow.

History doesn't repeat itself, but it rhymes. The same old lessons need to be relearned. You only get to hold people down as long as they believe they aren't being held down. Trump and Musk threaten to make the behind the scenes class struggle so preeminent and dominant that it stops being a struggle... and turns back into a war.

Rich people tend to do well... until they forget how terribly badly they are outnumbered.
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

Yep.

This is exactly what Curtis Yarvin’s Butterfly Revolution lays out—a step-by-step process to dismantle democratic institutions and replace them with an autocratic regime under a single sovereign leader.

The Steps of Yarvin’s Plan & Where We Are Now

Delegitimize Institutions – Attack the courts, the press, and any institution that could check executive power. MAGA has been doing this for years—convincing their base that the judiciary, the FBI, and even the military are corrupt and “weaponized” against them.

Ignore Constraints – Once people lose faith in institutions, you start ignoring them outright. This is the stage we’re entering now, with Vance openly floating the idea of defying court rulings and Conway (on CNN) warning that Trump will order the US Marshals to ignore the courts. There is literally no other offramp aside from getting in the streets...

Crush Opposition – When protests erupt, invoke the Insurrection Act to justify mass crackdowns. Project 2025 explicitly calls for this, planning to detain protesters alongside undocumented immigrants—normalizing mass arrests of citizens.

Establish Autocratic Rule – Once the public is conditioned to accept that laws and rulings don’t apply to the executive, democracy effectively ends. Elections will still exist, but only as a formality. By then, the opposition will be neutralized, and power will be fully centralized.

They have books and missives explaining all this out in public view PRIOR to the election, and still the US is here...And the timeline of for the above isn't years...it's days and weeks...buckle up.

RFK doesn’t even believe in germ theory. How is this happening.

Republicans are asleep at the wheel. I’d like to think they will pay for their mistakes in the end but I worry their takeover will be complete before that can happen.

America is crumbling in realy time while I watch.

Prosecutor number seven at the DOJ has just resigned after refusing to dismiss the charges against Mayor Adams in NYC. Trump gov wants to drop the charges in what was surely meant to be only hinted but has in fact been stated out loud as a quid pro quo for Adams supporting deportation of immigrants. Scary stuff.

Sometimes you have to tear the whole thing down when the rot gets too bad. I only hope it isn't as painful as possible and there is still something to put back together.

Where's your patriotism? The world's mightiest South African may be close to the verge of conquering the United States.

And then Canada.

That is, after enough government employees resign or get forced out, and he convinces Trump to replace them with Grok. But really for full takeover he'd probably need an army of effective robots that he doesn't have... OTOH he could just buy a bunch of drones etc....

In case you thought I was just kidding about Musk replacing somewhere between many and all government workers with AI... nope, he really is (planning on it, at least):

Quote

Musk is planning to replace tens of thousands of sacked government workers with artificial intelligence tools, according to US officials. [...]

"The end goal is replacing the human workforce with machines," a US official closely watching Doge activity told The Washington Post.

Musk to replace sacked government workers with machines

And to the extent that's accomplished...

Quote

If human workers are widely replaced with AI, executives will have unilateral authority to instantaneously alter the behavior of the government, profoundly raising the stakes for transitions of power in democracy.

[...] Even if Congress were motivated to fight back against Trump and Musk, or against a future president seeking to bulldoze the will of the legislature, the absolute power to command AI agents would make it easier to subvert legislative intent.

It's Time to Worry About DOGE's AI Plans - The Atlantic

And who's going to set up that AI for Trump? Well, Musk, of course... unless Trump gets sufficiently paranoid. At any rate Trump isn't exactly tech savvy.

But Musk's probably going to try to rush outright replacing humans with AI before AI is really ready (granted, it's already good enough to assist humans in many things and replace them for some tasks, especially those that can be rigorously checked by non-generative AI), large numbers of people will suffer and a lot of money will be lost (or grafted away, if hallucinatory AI chaos provides cover for corruption), and worst of all the idea of letting AI run most things might appear to be discredited... though it's not like what most voters or most human experts think by then is necessarily going to count for much.

It's hard to say how far he'll get how fast... but he's certainly already breaking things. "Move fast and break people", isn't that the classic motto?

I’ve said this before. The plan is to fire government and private sector workers, implement AI, remove immigrants, then the low and middle class people have to work the fields.

I don't know why but I hadn't anticipated Vance coming over to Europe peddling his bullshit. It felt less real when he was across an ocean, like it was just tv or something. Urgh. Absolute disgrace. A big part of me thinks a huge majority in Europe will treat him with the disdain he deserves but it makes me very nervous as though we're just a few years behind the descent of the US.

Every occupying force knows the tactic: If you want to cow a large population, pick one of its most respected citizens and demand he debase himself and pledge fealty. If he refuses, execute him and move on to the next one. This is how the Trump Justice Department thinks it will bring U.S. attorneys' offices around the country under its control, starting last week with the Southern District of New York. [...]

In instructing the Southern District to drop the case against Mayor Eric Adams of New York[... the Trump Justice Department] found a useful loyalty test. [...]

Perhaps [the Trump administration] wouldn't mind filling federal prosecutors' offices with sock puppets and ideologues. In the long run, the plan is probably self-defeating. [...] The responses of judges, juries and witnesses may be harder to control.

All the President's Sock Puppets - The New York Times

As for that last part: one question is how many cases can ultimately be decided by Trump judges, and how loyal they'll be. Perhaps Trump judges using AI and remote avatars would be able to adjudicate substantially more cases. AI version of the judge writes most of most of the opinions, they just glance over it and sign their name.

Quote

Trump on Saturday posted on social media a single sentence [...]

"He who saves his Country does not violate any Law" [...]

By late afternoon, Mr. Trump had pinned the statement to the top of his Truth Social feed, making it clear it was not a passing thought but one he wanted people to absorb. The official White House account on X posted his message in the evening.

Trump Suggests No Laws Are Broken if He's 'Saving His Country - The New York Times

The quote has been attributed to Napoleon... however:

A fun thing to do with this supposed Napoleon quote is to do a google search to see what forums it appeared on with this exact wording before 2022. I'm no computer whiz, so maybe I messed up, but the only hits I got were these two...for Stormfront, a neo-Nazi forum.

Be horror-stricken Trump used the same Bonaparte quote as a right-wing mass muderer

[... It] was the polestar of [white supremacist Norwegian mass murderer] Breivik's philosophy, one he'd learned from studying the writings and lives of his heroes: Adolf Hitler and Napoleon Bonaparte. [The French phrase being translated---"Celui qui sauve sa patrie ne viole aucune loi"---is attributed to Napoleon by Balzac, who was in correspondence with Napoleon's niece but does not cite any specific source for this quote.] [Breivik] opened the chapter with it at the top of the page, apart from all the other text:

"He who saves his country, violates no law."

The phrase was most recently quoted three weeks ago [...] by El Salvador's notoriously violent and lawbreaking President [and Trump ally] Nayib Bukele, who also tweeted: "He who saves his country violates no law." [slightly different wording than Trump's there, though I guess Bukele's tweet might have been in Spanish?]

Emperors like Napoleon and dictators like Bukele don't bother with trivial details like obeying the law. [...]

That was also Breivik's hope for the Scandinavian countries: throw off the yoke of the "globalist" EU and embrace a racist strongman to lead the continent into an era of whites-only paradise. [...]

Which is why it's so troubling that Trump tweeted the same Napoleonic phrase that Breivik made famous. The phrase every white supremacist has memorized, along with the fourteen words and the number 88 as code for "Heil Hitler."

[...] "As a journalist who covers extremism at the local level, I think it's a mistake to view Trump's Napoleonic statement as solely about presidential power. Consider if it's interpreted as a wink and a nod for any extremist to act outside the law to 'save' the country as they see fit."

Be horror-stricken Trump used the same Bonaparte quote as a right-wing mass muderer

"Be horror-stricken" could start nearly every sentence that details Trumps two presidencies.

The goal of making people immune to the sheer chaos and norm breaking that the Republicans have allowed has worked stupendously. I see that phrase and just shrug my shoulders.
