People already have Trump Mockery Fatigue from the last 5 years.

Not only that, but as someone who knows event planners, that once they realized their mistake that they didn't bother to try to rectify it. They leaned into it instead. Shows the level of incompetence.

-------

So many Trumpsters are in denial and on social media are shouting stupid things that make no sense or don't apply. Let's do the list, shall we?

1. Trump will get this into the SCOTUS, and like Bush V Gore, they will hand him the election! No, this is nothing like Bush V Gore which was a matter of a couple of hundred votes in a single battleground state remaining in the election to see who won the Electoral College, as well as technical glitches (hanging Chad's) caused a ruling and it went to Bush. Biden is head in SIX states, some by very wide margins. This is nothing like Bush V Gore. Additionally, so many of the young conservatives shouting this weren't even bloody well alive when 2000 happened...so that's amusing.

1b. The notion that the SCOTUS judges Trump elected are somehow going to be beholden to his personal whims now that they have a nigh-untouchable spot in a lifelong position...is such a fantasy. Now that they re in, they don't have to give the slightest of fucks about him.

2. They are cheating! Dead people are voting, look here's video of a guy filing in a ballot! No, that's a guy copying/refilling in a ballot that was damaged and the machine could not read it, there are tonnes of people around him as he does it. NO ONE is committing election fraud for a few ballots in a single state election. No one. And it's certainly not happening en masse.

2b. There are no Republicans in the vote counting buildings and they won't let us in! Uh.....there are always both parties people in those places counting...and better yet, you think that in largely Republican states that shenanigans are going on to allow Democrats to cheat?

2c. Also, why would the democrats cheat and not take the Senate, or make more ground in the House (instead of losing some), or all the other donw-ballot races where Republicans did well? This is the funny thing. Republicans didn't do terrible in this election...only Donald Trump did...

3. The media doesn't get to tell you who the president is! (this one from Trump himself "Since when the does the lamestream media announce the presidency?!") Uh no, the states count ballots and send those counts to the media who announce them to us. This is not hard.

4. It's not over! Uh, it's over bro. Take as much Copium as you feel you need to to get through all the stages of grief.

Also if this was rigged, how rubbish are the Dems at rigging? Let's barely scrape through a bunch of times and not win the senate!

If they'd won too big it would have been too obvious. The Democrats are smart.

Anyway hopefully the fireworks will go away soon, they're deeply irksome at the best of times.

Call me weird. I really love organised fireworks displays. But I get a slightly uncomfortable feeling about kids walking around with explosives.
Yesterday, upon the stair, I saw a man who wasn't there. He wasn't there again today. Oh, how I wish he'd go away.

Yeah we set off fireworks non-stop the first 2 weeks of November.

Is there a #5 to HDs list - consistently underfund state education to prevent too many people getting smart enough to figure all this out for themselves.

I just had this sudden awful feeling of some new big destabilising event happening just as we are all congratulating ourselves that good sense has prevailed. Call me a pessimist but it is 2020.

I get that Fawkes et al were trying to enforce a theocracy on the UK but why do we still celebrate parliament not being blown up? Surely the last however many years of neoliberal governments have taught us that this is not something to continue celebrating?

I'm pretty sure it is because bonfire night is really good fun. I'm not Christian or Pagan either but I'm all up for Christmas and Easter.

I keep reading lots of speculation about what Ivanka is going to do next. No hope that she and vampire husband are going to withdraw from the public eye and quietly enjoy their millions? Consensus is the NY society will welcome them back with open arms as they are legendarily shallow.

Either way the woman is shameless - nepotism much?

I think Jared especially is mired in things that could get him in serious legal trouble...Ivanka too, but I think Jared is likely worse.

But 'Hatch Violations' alone should set the justice dogs after them.

Unless Trump just pardons everyone...which he may do.

This is strange to me as everything I have ever read and heard about the Trumps in NYC is that everyone, elite and poor hate the shit out of them.

Genuine question: why do so many Americans hate the concept of socialism? It isnt the same as communism. Socialism basically means looking after your fellow countrymen who are worse off than you are. Is that really such a horrendous distopian concept for Americans?

1. They don't understand the difference and you cannot explain it to them because they will just call your explanations propaganda.
2. The Deep South voted overwhelmingly for FDR 3 times. They loved socialism until its benefits became available to black people after the civil rights era. At that point it became a matter of their tax money going to support black people, who they see as irredeemably lazy, a view that has persisted since slavery.
3. This is not an oversimplification for the vast majority of MAGA voters. Trust me. I grew up white in Mississippi and I know how these people think. Many of them depend on welfare to survive and still vote for Republicans. I moved to Trump country in Illinois about 6 years ago and it's the same here. I've seen Confederate flags in my small town in the middle of a cornfield.

Oh yes. Illinois is Red right around Joliet. The Mason dixie line might has well be there.
How many fucking people do I have to hammer in order to get that across.

My sister, in Canada (she’s a die hard conservative) thinks Trudeau is “sliding us into inexorable socialism”...which when I questioned her on it she conflated with communism...because she’s stupid.

She 100% doesn’t understand the difference, and when I tried to explain it to her, her eyes glazed over.

I’ve now begun to call myself “the dirty family socialist” just to annoy her, and I tell her openly that I’ll probably vote for Jagmeet Singh in the next federal election...she gets enraged. It’s amusing.

My parents lived through the best and worst years of the USSR.

My mom is convinced that Canada is going down the same road as late-stage USSR with "extensive socialism".

I honestly don't know. Maybe it's an age thing?

I think that the 40 years of anti Communist propaganda + the violent propping up of dictators in Latin America, the southern half of Asia, and some parts of Africa that have resulted in revolutions/insurgencies and the rich fleeing to the US have contributed to the downstream effects we see in voting patterns today alongside the stuff others have said.

How many decades can you blare Red Dawn type stuff before it gets distorted into paranoia and selfishness at home?

My family growing up was excessively Conservative-bubbled. My mom and dad both voted Con most of their lives in my youth. My mom still does, my dad does not (he's begun voting Liberal and NDP for the sake of my kids and knows that so-called Fiscal Conservatism is dead in Canada)...but I think my sister bore the brunt of the indoctrination around those politicians in our youth. Add in that she didn't finish high school or attend college/university, she got her current job (which she's now been in for more than a decade) by lying on the resume/application/interview. I finished HS and attended College. And we know the more education you have the more liberal you tend to lean, so that's probably a part of it as well. She spouts weird conspiracy theories and conflates labor with capitalism as being the reason for all the things we have in our society. She openly supports people who have hurt my family's chances at success and my own life, and when confronted with that tells me it's for my own good and she knows better than me.

I don't want to say it's education, but I think that's probably the biggest current factor. She spouts the dumbest, easily disproven crap...

There's a part of me that wanted sharpiegate to be true. How rich and satisfying would it be if the MAGA dummies who idolize a dope who signs everything with a sharpie where to follow suit and fuck up their ballots by using the same, when the instructions clearly say to use a pen, which a sharpie clearly is not, it's a fucking marker.

Segment on the news was sweeping around the globe showing celebrations. Stopped at a long shot in London showing professional fireworks display going off behind that large Ferris wheel doodad.

I think it's more than an education thing. People in families who make more than 50k and less than 100k combined in the US voted 56%-43% Biden. People who make more than 100k voted 54%-43% for Trump.

Data from here:
https://www.wsws.org...6/pers-n06.html

It is not necessarily true that the high earners all have completed higher levels of education, but enough have to show that it's not simply education that drives people to vote how they do.

A rich person usually votes for who will set less taxes upon them - even though they can more readily afford higher taxes. A scared person will usually vote for who seems more authoritarian because fear is a wild thing.

The fear thing is why I wanted to know why Briar King says he's afraid of Joe Biden and his peeps and not Trump and his peeps. I'm not making fun of him or setting him up for a thumping. I want to know what BK is afraid of and whether we can address that.

What amuses me are the Trump supporters who are like "We've going to Canada if Biden wins!"....Biden would be considered Centrist AT BEST in Canada and probably more leaning right from his policies...Canada is pretty far left on the whole, and then we have all the shit that pisses Trumpers/Republicans off, like free abortions, gay marriage has been legal since 2005, gun control, health care, higher taxes, ect. Why are they so dumb? We don't want them, AND they would hate it here. LOL
