Now I was speaking to my girlfriend nerd in progress and I mentioned how Gregor Clegane from ASOIAF wins points for me on his merit of being Huge and a general all round hard ass. Despite his being cruel etc etc wha wha...I noted that he had substantial Karsa-ness and therefore I had to enjoy his character in the books...

Karsa-Ness is of course the process of being Like Karsa. That could be in stature...in attitude...in size :apt: , will, strength and general bassassity. I almost wrote this as Urk-Ness because clearly The Urk made The Orlong his bitch way back in 04 before Karsa put on those extra pounds eating merry in Shaik's army...

THat said

I would like to know your views on characters...books...films...events...historical social constructs...WHATEVER...that you feel have substantial Karsa-Ness and need be drawn attention to on our beloved forum.

I wish to make a nod here to the video game The Witcher...Because despite bad acting skillz...Geralt has substantial bedding powers that would make any self-appreciating Toblakai nod in mutual respect.

Incidentally if you haven't played it go get it :D

Probably that jerk from the God of War games, I forget his name.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

Well I think Karsa most defining feature isn't that he's badass (he is) but his take on civilization and his reaction to it. I honestly haven't read any other character that deconstructed the Noble Savage trope so well. So I'll just say the easy answer: Conan.

from what i understand of his career in films, and out of them, Danny Trejo seems to have some serious karsa-ness

Seconded on the Trejo.

I'd say Conan. Seems too obvious :D

Oh, and "girlfriend-nerd" is my new favorite term.. I should be allowed both a girlfriend-nerd and a normal girlfriend.

Do I even have to say it?
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

you mean He-Who-Taught-Karsa-How-To-Be-BADASS? no need to mention his name, as we all ruminate on his exploits daily.

I for one wouldn't put clegane in the same category as Karsa, If Karsa saw how Clegane was acting he'd cut the fool in two, Karsa doesn't dig people terrorizing others

Khal Drogo, he's the Karsa of the ASOIAF universe. We se him being ruthless to his enemies, yet having a noble heart with regards to his people and wife.

Leonidas in 300.

Spawn.
Disclaimer: The Toblakai in my nick is in no way Karsa but the spawn of a Thelomen Toblakai and the Otataral Dragon.
Disclaimer to the disclaimer: Thinks about his signature and wonders how on earth would a Toblakai and the Otataral Dragon...create offspring?

Karsa's one act that I hated enormously was the
Spoiler
I'd wish a 'Tool-ish' revenge scenario on anyone who does that.

The Teblor saw rapes as coming to age rite...even the women being raped seems to have surrendered themselves...

i think that as moraly objectionable as rape is, the context here is that small isolated groups of people would need to widen the gene pool as much as possible. Raiding, rape & festivals would essentially have the same benefits.

it was the 'children' slaying that got me going till i clicked on what Karsa meant.
