Boo to deaths affecting my team! D'rek and I never did have our drunken spam date :D

I'm stil not sure about how this alliance thing works in terms of winning conditions, but I guess that's because you're eeeeeeevil.

Provisional Surprise Attack on Sorrit

He's getting up my nose. I guess I'll see how today goes. Also feeling an itch to wound someone, but I'll take another look after I've woken up.

Do I get notified if/when my BP gets used?

Only someone with this much power could make this many frittatas without breaking any eggs.

I am glad to see that lynching Fener by default on day 1 would have been a great move, though lynching GH instead worked out just as well. :D

Hmm, I think I've spotted a big flaw in my setup. I will owe some apologies. I'm not sure why this didn't occur to me, but Spearman get sort of a bunk role compared to others (well, it IS better than RI), but the BS part is they cannot be recruited. I did that while thinking strictly about balance, but it means poor JLV and ansible are now doomed since they cannot even end up on the winning team by recruitment chance. Their only option to win, was to win with their first team. Yes, it's the same for leaders, but they get more cool stuff to do in the meantime.

Not making the killers (General General) unrecruitable was perhaps the one tiny flaw in the game. Don't worry too much. Every game has a loser, and the spearmen are in the same boat as the Daimyo. An isolated daimyo isn't much good either.

Well, it doesn't look likely to happen anyways. Who do you got your money on with what's left?

I may be biased but go go team Fujiwara!!! I am hoping enough people alt Khell and/or succumb to the Fener curse that they will behead him and give Fujiwara the advantage.

re Spearmen/Generals recruiting - Spearmen being recruitable would have been ridiculous if the double-vote mechanic went with them. Imagine a leader who recruited two more spearmen and still had their original one, they'd get 7 votes for 4! I'm on the fence about whether Generals being unrecruitable would have worked better or not. I like the idea that a faction can be reduced to near-powerlessness without being eliminated completely, and if generals were unrecruitable that wouldn't be the case because even with one person left in the faction they could get a lot of lucky kills and win. Also, if generals, leaders and spearmen were all unrecruitable it would become a very frustrating night action with such a low probability of success.

Hard to say, but I think ti works as it is about as well as anything else.

Speaking of set-up: this is awesome. Truly awesome. I particular love the conditional double vote.

Oh,and thank you. Coming from you that makes me feel great! :apt:

Curious to know what D'rek thinks too. She made such awesome setups for RotK that I know I can't match up. :D

Oh please, this is way more balanced than anything I came up with (except Rise of Heroes, but it's easy to be balanced when every role is the same :D )!

I liked the setup, though I haven't read it carefully enough to get my head around the alliances completely. The overall setup structure is simple and conservative (symmetric factions, basic victory conditions) which sets a good base for everyone to work off of so they don't get overwhelmed by the complex actions and add-on mechanics (recruitment, wounding, double votes, promotion, etc) which I think is a good way to do it.

Also I like symmetric merc games and it's been a long while since we had one so that was a good choice to bring back!

I think the Locke Lamora game may have been the last one, that one was a blast and I think this one will be no different. I think you have a classic in the making here, Shin.
(And without wanting to diminish your achievement, also kudos also to PB - there are few better to echo a set-up off, that guy is marvellous :D)

The reason why I'd make killers unrecruitable is mainly because having 2 of them (especially since they learn the daimyo's name) is proving such a massive tempo increase off thread.
With the spearmen, they still need a voting target to be effective on and it is luck-based (more or less). The General is a self-contained way to achieve victory and/or a force multiplier. In a way, they're the heart of their faction where the spearman is a fringe benefit.

That being said: I LOVE the spearman role.

ok, lots of things going down. I need to partner with someone who can recruit, so that they can't recruit me. That means teams with leaders. So....
Open alliance preference order:

Ashikaga,, Miura, Takeada, Uesugi

IF THAT WORKS and I get an alliance with Ashikaga or Miura....
(this section is subject to change if I don't get an open alliance with Ashikaga or Miura)

Cancel Secret Alliance with Ashikaga (obviously).

Attempt Secret alliance in this order: Uesugi, Takeada, Miura, Ashikaga (only if I am unable to Openly ally with them)

This is because I need the other teams to be able to kill/recruit from the Ashikaga.

Finally,

Promote Olar Ethil. If he is dead, Recruit Korlat

I will probably change this tomorrow, no thought applied to my decision now (story of my life, Shin)

Azathmaster, please do not take this personally (Vengy says this himself). Ranting and raving at other players is part of the mafia tradition. It is not meant to scare newbies away. If anything, you should put Vengy on your "list" and vow to kill him whenever possible. :D Read on, but please take off your sensitive-pants first. :apt:

Tulas Shorn will attempt to kill Atrahal tonight.

It is a brilliant fucking hick post. Liosan is a tard.

Tulas Shorn, on 27 January 2012 - 02:12 AM, said:

Oh and what the fuck is wrong with Mental. Hmmmm.... He must fucking realize that if the teams are even then him saying that he only knows the leader would mean that those of us who also only know our leader would fucking know that he is also a fucking killer and go and fucking kill him.

Also while I am at it. Why the fuck hasn't any fucking one tried to fucking recruit me. I am almost fucking positive that there is a recruiting cult thing going on. I just hope my fucking healer or who ever is keeping me alive at night. Doesn't get fucking recruited while I don't... Can you tell I am slightly irritated. Strangely enough it isn't even at you. Although it should be by rights. It is at the fucking misserable fucking twat mental for forcing me to kill him just when I was thinking about changing that order to Kara and at Liosan for being a tard.

english is my first language and i dont pay attention to shit why because since english is my first language im better then both of yous combine and put together and torn apart because i was born and taught english as my first and by god my only language because it is the only proper language that god and jesus spoke the only reason other people dont start off speaking english is because the were born unlucky in places that god doesn't like

:D

Ummmm. Tulas that was a religiously oriented rant about language... English is my only fluent language but i wish i could speak spanish and greek but cant. Those who are bilingual or more are luckier than us becayse they can speak english and at least one other language.
Plus god, jesus, and all his peeps spoke hebrew as jesus was jewish

That wasn't a fucking rant you god dam fucking reject from the gene cesspool. A fucking rant is talking about how your fucking paternal grandfather should have taken a rusty prison sharpend shank of a spoon and used it to slice out you paternal grandmothers uterus and then cut off his own balls, before slicing both of their throats with the same shank. Thus keeping you from ever even being thought of being conceived. That is a fucking rant you fucking twit. A fucking rant is me saying how since your grandfather didn't have the fucking foresight to do that then you father should have head butted your mother rather then knocking her up at a twisted sister concert while getting ass banged by all of the stage hands. But for all I know the reason that you are a fucking twit is that your sister is both your mother and your aunt and your father is both your uncle and your brother. Now when you get to spoiler heaven and see this message you will know in the fucking future what a mother fucking rant looks like.

By the way I the above is not personal at all. It is simply a example of what a rant is. Don't fuck with my rants.

PS I did not post this on the thread. I came oh so close to doing so though.

Jesus spoke Aramaic didn't he?

*back to anonymity!
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

Damn The Dude is good.

He called out JA for his slip and with the looks of Lioson being the most likely lynch I think that team Fujiwari looks to be in the driver seat. With Vengy getting all this heat and Mental looks to be vengy's target tonight I think we can just about rule out the Takeda and the Uesugi being able to win. But if Morgoth and Khell ally with each other then the Ashikaga or the Miura still have a shot. Especially since they still have their leaders and will be able to recruit away from The Dude.

That game gets a bit confusing per me every day.
Am I the only one who reads Sorrit's posts like additional OPs?

After reasoning like Gaylord about the way leaders would act based on the information leaders know, which are not explained, now he telling us that he somehow concluded from all this that leaders know their seconds.

I didn't know there were seconds, and I'm getting confused exactly who it is that I know.

I have no issue voting Liosan. He's not the one I know, and he's being defended by Sorrit who I don't know either. In a four-man team, if he's with me that's serious bad luck.

vote Liosan

I was going under the assumption that it was 3v3v3v3v3. I know there has been talk of a recruiting mechanism, but as far as I know, nothing conclusive. Shelly seems to think he is on a team of 4. Which would mean he thinks he has a recruit? He is a recruit? either way, he seems to know more than me. Based upon earlier posts that I am not going to specifiy ( for obvious reasons) I don't think he is on my team ( which is why I am bringing this up). I am thinking Shelly is highly roled, OR is a recruit on a team that now secretly has 4 ppl. (I am leaning towards option one as I have seen no evidence to support the fact that this is anything but a Merc game.) Anyway, I wanted to point this out.

For now, I am fine with a Liosan vote. There is some evidence to suggest he is highly placed, and other evidence that he is not on my team.. Thats good enough for me this early in a Merc game.

vote Liosan

I don't know what I'm doing but it sounds good.

I tried my hand at modding and I think I may have made a mistake that might affect the results of this lynch. It all depends on the Open Alliance feature and the double vote mechanic. If the fact that the Fujiwari and the Ashikaga are in an open alliance then Omtose double vote on Lio should only count as one right? Lio doesn't have a double vote as Fener isn't on TS lynch train and Okaros the last leader hadn't voted yet at all so Sorrit's vote only counts as one as well. I'm not sure how the double votes counted the last couple of lynch trains. I'm wondering if the secrect alliances somehow voided the Open Alliance feature.

Edit:

Moot point. All of Lio's team decided that they will vote for him and there are more than enough votes on him as long as they got in on time.
