Just finished Siege of Terra 1 - The Solar War and it was pretty spectacular. I had no expectations of any sort after having limped through the dull finish to the main Horus Heresy series. I just hope I don't have to go through another 54 books (and numerous shorts) before it's all done.

Siege is gonna be 8 books with some ancillary (that the right word?) material. We got 2 novellas so far but they are not mandatory. 4 Siege books are out and the 5th was announced last weekend.

That's great news. I'll take 8 books any day.

I'm slowly making my way through book 2 and I think I'm around halfway in. Just finished the one about Rawne and moving into the one about Dorden. So far I think my favorite in the collection is the Larkin story. But that might just be because Larkin is my favorite so far.

Larks is definitely ace. Rawne somehow, grows on you. Or did on me anyway. Dorden is a constant

Agreed.

Rawne is easily one of my fave characters now.

Also Mkoll is a certified badass.

Mmmm, I'd say hold off until after.......the Armour of contempt

It's not a spoiler, but it's a question you can't really answer until then at the very earliest

Just finished Ghostmaker and went back and caught up on BK's spoiler tags to the end of that book. I agree with a lot of what he's said before me now.

Spoiler

Going straight into Necropolis. Hoping to make better time on this one, should be easier post giftmas craziness.

I did also get the first Ciaphas Cain omni awhile back. Are there any potential cross-spoiler points I should be aware of between the two series or are they both reliably self-contained from each other?

Completely separate.

Same universe hundreds of years and millions of miles apart.

Gaunt's Ghosts take place in the Sabbat Worlds, located in the Segmentum Pacificus, and the Crusade takes place from 754. M41 to 775 M41 (probably longer, that's just the latest we've seen) while Cain is out in the Eastern Fringe beyond the Ultima Segmentum and his adventures take place from 920.M41 right up to 999.M41 and the creation of the Cicatrix Maledictum.

Thank you both. That was what I was hoping to hear. I'll stay with my original plan of going all the way through Gaunt before going into Cain at some point down the line.

Picked up the Infinite and the Divine on kindle, about halfway through, really enjoying it.

Nice to have something from a non imperial PoV in the 40k verse, and Orikan and Trazyn's bickering is great.
meh. Link was dead :(
