Tonight's one shot was probably one of the better episodes of the Walking Dead...

That was one of the finer eps of TWD...but I REALLY don't think Morgan's story needed a full hour and a half, they could have cut it down to an hour and till had the same impact.

Still, for a show that always looks so brutal, gory, and just dimsal....this was lovingly shot, scored, and made to feel out of sync with all the crap going down around them. It was like a nice island breather from the rest of the show...and does a GREAT job of showing why Morgan NEEDS to see people as he does and avoid killing...and then of course they juxtapose that with bringing us a Wolf at the end who is basically an allegory for the Evil guy Eastman met...and Morgan still needs to keep him alive. Which puts me fully at odds with how I felt last week about Morgan needing to understand he needs to kill to survive like Rick and Co....and this episode changed my mind...if only for 50 minutes.

So yeah, all in all a great ep.

I agree, I can now see why Morgan was so adamant about not killing the Wolves.

I thought it was a couple of very good performances in an entirely rote, by-the-books backstory. Which does indeed make it one of the finer episodes of TWD.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

Yeah, it was a predictable story because we know where Morgan ends up, but it was interesting to see how he got from there to here, and I thought Lennie James was excellent. As was Tabitha.

Was away for a week, so just catching up!

Glenn better be dead! (even though it makes me sad).
I thought at first that it was the other dude getting eaten on top of him, and he'd get away. Then they pan to the 100 zombies swarming on top of the two of them. No way he's getting out of that. I don't want to see some stupid Cop Out from THIS SHOW. He didn't roll under the dumpster w/ a corpse being devoured on top of him and all those zombies aren't going to just finish that corpse and then when they're finished move onto Glen. They're just grabbing for meat and there's no way he doesn't get a random bite out of his arm/leg etc.

PS. I heard Glen's name wasn't in the opening credits of the following Morgan episode... (which could just be the creators messing w/ us)

That "cast" photo could be anything also. Some of those people could be crew members. Who in the zombie apocalypse would go around wearing a safety/construction/street crossing vest?

spoiler from comics:
Spoiler

Anyways, to end/summarize my long rant: It bums me out that Glen is dead, but it would bum me out more that the show would start doing cheesy "fooled you!" cop outs by undoing what we saw. All those zombies circled/swarmed around the two of them w/ glen pinned down = Glen dead. The only way they could undo his death is w/ some cheesy time-elapsed difference where he had already escaped by the time the other dude's corpse was swarmed. It was like 5 seconds in what they showed, but later we see there was something happening in between... (cheesy)

I agree - if they have him getting out of that situation then it is a bit of a cop out. Beloved characters have to die or there is no sense of jeopardy and the whole thing will start to feel so much less compelling.

...I'm beginning to lean more and more that Glenn is still alive. did a light rewatch of the episode in question, ya I can see how he "could" escape in a tv drama setting. but pretty sure any scenario they come up w/ him escaping will be far fetched cop out. being able to pull himself under the dumpster and waiting until someone can draw away the herd or have a lucky manhole cover he can somehow open in that position and escape down :p any circumstance he should have received at least one bite...

I'm also starting a 180 and thinking maybe people are right about Enid, maybe she is a wolf. Wish I could go back and see the scene w/ the keys and "that's how we got in" but it's too much effort to go on demand and fast forward. haha, I don't care enough.

Any theories on what the dripping blood is on the wall at the end of the episode that (who's) Dianna walked by? It appeared to be dripping blood that they zoomed in on anyways.

Think Maggie really gave up on looking for Glenn or do you think she told Aaron she'd be right back but really went with her original plan over the wall?

Since Maggie is pregnant, they won't kill Glenn off until he learns about it. :p

I thought the blood on the wall was a gap that walkers are being squeezed through.

I think the people on the walls should be killing time by dropping heavy things on the walkers (rocks, bricks, TVs, bowling balls, etc). Thin the herd out a little.

on Talking Dead, they mentioned that Glenn already knew, how he talked her into staying initially on the quarry mission. The viewer didn't know, but the two of them did.

I had hit the 15 sec back button when the show ended and tried to see what they were zooming in on. It didn't look like the wall was cracked or breaking, it kind of looked like blood was dripping down from above...

I thought so too (about thinning the herd). Don't they have anything flammable they can throw out there? start a bonfire of walkers? fire would attract more walkers so they'd all pretty much walk into it. even if they don't completely die f/ the fire their bodies would be damaged and somewhat incapacitated to be easier to take out manually. It's a big metal fence so there shouldn't be much risk in damaging that right?

A bit of a filler episode I thought. At least they gave Maggie something to do, and the Carl/Ron slap fight was hilarious. Deanna walked around looking more like a zombie than the zombies.

Where was Carol? I don't recall seeing her, which surprised me considering Rick had returned.

My impression of the blood coming through the panels of the wall at the end was just that the walkers were jamming themselves against the walls and the pressure was building to the point that the ones closest were getting "juicified". A precursor to the walls giving in with too much more pressure added?

I also commented out loud about why weren't they doing anything to thin the herd out from above. Long spears from where Rick and Ron were would maybe work. Then again, most of the Alexandrians may not be ready for that kind of duty, still. I thought prison-style poking from the gate too, but that would leave them with a pile there and that seems to be the only major way in and out.

It goes to show how naive/little they knew that (who's) Deanna's husband Reg (the architect of the wall) didn't think to put in one or two strategically placed escape tunnels, not unlike the sewer, but leading farther out. If you could get beyond the herd at the walls and start a bonfire, then you might get somewhere. I don't know that I'd burn them right against the wall. Too much heat would eventually at least weaken the metal.

Well, they've cast Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Negan.

I think that we can now safely assume Glenn survives the walkers in the alley...
