Hi there.

2 questions that's been bugging me.

1) Why did Hood feel he needed to go inside Dragnipur and do battle with the chaos? The way I read it, Rake was the only one needed in the end. He move the gate of Darkness to Black Coral afterall. So what did Hood and his minions accomplish besides being cut down in large numbers?

2) Who is this skinner guy the Seguleh second wants to kill? From what I've read on this forum he has some conection to the Crimson Guard, but other than that, I'm at a loss. Have I forgotten something from an earlier book or is it a RAFO?

Been a while since i read TTH but I think it was the fact that Hood wanted to give up the throne of death/would be needed to slow down choas while Rake sought MDs forgiveness. Essentially Hood and his realm were used in the fight against choas buying Rake the time he needed. There wasnt enough souls in Dargnipur to keep it going long enough for Rake to move the gate. You may think if Rake decided at the beginning of TTH,before choas came too close, to end his own life and seperate the gate that would have made more sense. However you have to remember that Rake had to let Choas close enough to thin out the nasties in the sword. Draconus's legendary cruelty had been blunted but others,entities of appalling power, could not be released as a result of Rakes death. Like I said its been a while and other may be able to explain it but the Hood wanting off his throne/buying time are what I remember.

Skinner was part of the legendary 9th (?) Blade of the CGRD and crossed swords with Dassem Ultor at ome point. Read Return of the Crimson Guard by ICE for more information.

If Hood dies...he takes everything with him! including all the bad BAD dead guys...so by being in Dragnipur he sent all of the dead who have ever died ever into chaos except himself, Draconus, The seguleh 2nd and...erm...some intruders...I guess Rake needed the legions to push back Chaos enough so he could do his thang
