Your right doing something extreme is good, as a point to prove to yourself sometimes which is what ive done in the past. Its just that you seemed so miserable that you should know its not the only way to do it ;) .

How does your chest etc workout look? Also are you mainly concerned with fat loss.

The diet is already beginning to plateau as my body adjusts to it, so it's not really my first recommendation.

I just started lifting last week so I am still finding the rhytm and trying various exercises instead of sticking to one list of exercises in the programme. Yesterday I did Decline Barbell bench, Incline barbell bench, Dumbbell butterflies. Monday it was Benchpress, one arm bench press in a machine, dumbbell pullover, machine butterflies.

Jesus, people, it's not like I am stating this is my favorite way to eat and lose weight. It's an experiment. It's fun to try something different once in a while. Do something extreme. I know very well that it's not healthy to lose more than a kilo a week. That doesn't mean you can't go nuts once in a while just for the heck of it. Next you'll be telling me bullemia isn't a valid weight loss programme ;)

Anyway, did a chest, biceps, abs programme today and finished off with 7 minutes on a rowing machine and 7 minutes on a treadmill.

*hahaha* - fair enough. That's why fast once a year for 7 days- no food, just herbal teas and other *delightful* potions concocted from root, bark and leave. Amazing what happens to mind and body when outside the usual comfort zone.
but are they worth preserving?

I might be in the minority but I'm trying to put on some weight. I lost a few lbs over the summer (and I didn't need to) and now most of my clothes - especially the trousers - don't fit any more. I look like someone vacuumed my ass off of my body, sigh. :p But other than stuffing my face with junk food, I'm not sure how to go about putting it back on, and back where I want it to go to, not just my stomach and / or thighs. Bah.

That said, I do walk quite a bit every day so I do get some exercise, for what it's worth.

Milk is calorically dense and easy to have to get your weight up but does have alot of fat gains if your not lifting. IF your meals are inconsistent and not at regular times then maybe getting into more of a pattern with food might be the answer. I wanted to get a bit bigger and realised while I thought I was eating alot I wasnt getting enough calories. Even if you just want to get your weight back up a bit I find regular meal times to be the best part.

I went for a 30 minute walk with my wife, and then did a half hour of arm/shoulder/chest stuff with resistance bands.

Btw, running is/has been my main exercise, but I don't diet. I run, so I can eat whatever the hell I want. :p

Started the day with 20 minutes on my exercise bike, just came back from the gym where I did a hamstring, back, triceps programme and finished off with 10 minutes on a treadmill.

Yeah, my eating habits can be weird, at best. During the week I'm pretty regimented because of work (at least with breakfast and lunch) but on the weekends I tend to either eat only when I'm hungry or I graze and don't actually make a proper meal. I'll try keeping to regular meal times and see if that helps, thanks!

Peanut or almond butter is a great quick snack. One scoop and you're good to go.

Finally getting some outside walking done. Parents are here to visit their grandchild (and us by coincidence) so we are eating well, too well. But hopefully some of this will be offset by the walking (I'm not counting on it though).

On a brighter food note, we went apple picking yesterday, so I haz fruit!!!

Just got back from running. Christ fuck I'm out of shape.

Got away from it this spring after having picked it up again. Sometimes I'm curious if I have mild asthma.
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

I had quite an epic breakfast on saturday morning, fried potatoes, bacon bits, french toast. It was awesome but so fatty I had to make up for it by skipping lunch and spending nearly 2 hours at the gym in the afternoon. Ran 5k on the treadmill, took 40 mins, did some random toning on the weight machines and finished with 10k on the bike. And yesterday I spent a couple of hours walking into town and around a market there and went to Zumba in the evening.

I try to take the stairs instead of the elevator when I can, and never just stand still on escalators but power up them. Will generally go for the more expensive but better quality fast foods (ie. Nandos, Oporto, Sumo Salad) instead of McDonalds or KFC. I want to start rock'n'roll dancing if I can - will look into it when we've finally moved.

If you can get yourself to eat it, a midmorning snack- a small sandwich or so, and a midafternoon something else, like dairy products is another option for increasing calorie intake in a healthy way, rather than eating junk food. I always put loads of tasty things in sandwiches- nuts/nut butter, veg, salad, cheese, eggs or cold meat, pickles, and spice it up with herbs, pepper etc.

What works really well for me is having protein and little carb in the first half of the day, i.e. breakfast and lunch, some joghurt or buttermilk in the afternoon and for dinner veg and some carbs (but not rice or pasta, rather barley, couscous, corn etc) or lentils or beans. There's this "school of thinking about nutrition" which suggests that the body's ability to digest and absorb protein in the morning is better than later during the day, and it's better to have veg and carbs at night for regeneration during the sleep. I go by that rule mostly - but of course, doesn't mean it works for everyone. You need to experiment around and find out what works best for you. Good luck!

Hey your not the only one. Its so much easier eating when yoour at work because you have set times but if your not doing anything on a weekend you simply lose track of time and graze.

Just got back from going home for my step dads birthday. Drank and ate way too much. Also stil helping my brother with his house and him and his missus buy snacks (donuts etc) for us to eat throughout the day to keep us motivated.

ATM Im struggling to drink the amount of water that I should. I used to simply go the shop buy a 2litre bottle and drink it throughout the day. Id get through 2 a day easy so thats 4litres which is fine. But doing it in pint glasses is difficult.

I went for a walk, and ate some chocolate cake.
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

Me and the ole lady spent an hour on the treadmill while we watched the season premiere of How I Met Your Mother.

Damn, makes the time go by fast.

Although, when your really getting after it laughing can be difficult.

So I read this as "Ate a whole bell pepper with humans...." and spent a few freaky seconds wondering if you were eating with humans, in which case what species are you?? Or if you're just a cannibal. Made me smile, just thought I'd share :p
