S2 Ep 2

Holy shit THIS IS LEGIT!!

HOLD UP.

Season 2? woooboy ok I get the idea you consider Fate Zero as Season 1, that makes sense, but Season 2 in the Fate series is its own screwed up situation.

[...]

When Fate/Zero first aired it was a split-cour -> ~12 episodes in the fall, a break in the winter, and then the last ~12 episodes in spring. Pretty sure "season 2" is just referring to /Zero episodes 13~25, not to one of the other series.

@BK how do you feel about ancient babylonian spaceships? :(

Is this going to tie in with Caster of Red's Noble Phantasm? Because that was silly (then again silly is why Fate is fun).

3 of the 4 Fate shows on here are listed at 2 seasons each 12 to 13 eps so that’s what I’m going by when I post my progress.

oh I see, I got it as a full set so I consider the entire thing one Arc hence me thinking of it as a "Season". It makes sense to break it up I guess.

On S2 Ep 7. Stumbled a bit during eps 5&6 with young Kiritsugu arc. I don’t really need or want that shit just give me Grail War dammit.

Kiritsugu had some fun moments, although I do recall the first bits of his story being a bit dull...I hadn't seen UBW when I watched Zero so I thought he was just your average unapologetic anti-hero...

Not yet, though it's been on my queue for a while. Mostly I know that Emiya uses a WA2000 rifle, and this has caused entertaining memes with the character WA2000 from Shoujo Sensen.

I was thinking ancient Babylonian spaceships might equate to Hanging Gardens.

Unfortunate choice of watching habbits as zero is potentially the best Fate adaptations, as well as likely the only one with critical merit.

No potentially about it, it very clearly is the best one.

Maybe it will, maybe not, but that's not such a bad thing. It's a big franchise, you don't have to like *all* of it. You don't even have to watch all of it. Like watching all the James Bond movies and not liking/skipping... um... whichever ones are bad (I have no idea)

New season starts today. Wondering what it'll bring. Chances are I'll just flick through new releases and see what catches my eye.

But I still have so much to catch up on/finish/try from the summer!

Looking at the seasonal charts, there's a handful of big-name sequels -- SAO, Fairy Tail, Tokyo Ghoul, A Certain Scientific Index. I'll probably watch the SAO one, but don't really care about the rest.

None of the non-sequels really jumped out at me. A bunch of pretty generic-sounding isekai/fantasy ones (including that "Reincarnated as a Slime" one that's been getting a lot of talk), various game adaptations, various high school club shows, *shrug*.

Radiant could be good, Irozuku Sekai no Ashita could be good... the Ulysses/Joan of Arc thing will not be good... Zombieland Saga looks like it could either be a schizophrenic mess of ideas or a hilarious over-the-top semi-satirical horror-comedy.

I can't decide if the dumbest name of the season award should go to "RErideD" or "Release the Spyce"

What's the release date?

So far I've picked up ...Slime (released yesterday). A fun sendup of isekai in a similar vein to KonoSuba. Space Battleship Tiramisu also seems to have acquired season 2.

There's also Yuan something which seems like it could be fun.

Also... The notion of Zero making sense is sorta offputting. Fate without the wacky memes doesn't seem like Fate.

So my cousin is visiting and got me into Fate again. Apocryphas battles are truly phenomenal. I mean from a purely animation based perspective its right up there with the Boruto "boss" fight and One Punch mans Ep12 finale.

Absolutely gorgeous.

Picked up a couple seasonals:

Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai: Despite the bizarre title it seems to deal with existentialism as people don't notice the title character bar a select few. Maybe she's a ghost or something. But Ep1 was pretty decent.

Between Sea and Sky: Fishing in space? Could be a laugh. I'll try and watch Ep1 tonight and provide thoughts.

Ah the little girl is a bit older. Guess a sibling brawl will happen then with Sakura.

...

SN S1 Ep 4. I’m really liking this so far. Been cool seeing 10 yrs pass and all the growing up the annoying kids have done from Zero. Really badass mage fight between Rin and Iylaveil. So far I’m liking the Servants.

I can't remember if they ever make much of a point of Rin and Sakura secretly being sisters in Stay Night / UBW or not. The thing is, Stay Night was written before Zero, so it may not have been a fully conceived/established idea at that time.

Also, it is important to note that the grail war is *supposed* to happen something like every 60 years. So in Stay Night it is unexpectedly happening after only 10 years since the last one (probably because of how the Zero characters fucked everything up). Coming from Zero to SN/UBW, this helps a lot for explaining why these kids are far less educated and prepared about the whole thing than the professionals of Zero (though they're still total idiots sometimes, IMO).

Absolute gold.

It's also nice that the Archer class really is made up of Archers, and that Saber can dodge undodgeable blows, Saber, and that people die when they are killed.

Sea and Sky ep1 has some promise but there's a few worrying tropes - the main character is an OTT airhead, the narrative seems to be "earth is fucked but we gotta show we're better than the boiz, gurrrlz!" (see: Franxx for this being done in a way that actually makes sense). Overall, fun though.

Picked up Zombie Land Saga. JoJo part 5 tonight. Not sure what the weekend brings but I'm also keeping an eye out for miso/poop.
