Apparently the first episode of Hero Academia S3 is just a recap episode?

Really? That is super disappointing. I just finished season 1 & 2 for the first time a couple weeks ago and was looking forward to jumping right back in.

It's pretty good so far. What is it, mid 90s - early 00s? Maybe about the same age as Evangelion?

Just up to the bit where

ah reminds me of when I was in Highschool a buddy of mine walk telling me Theresa was his fav anime character.

Its early 2000s anime, when anime was still in its evolving and refining period. Back when every season you had less shows but greater variety. Id also argue better quality but that could be the fact I didn't watch that many on going shows in the day. (Then again, was seasonal anime evena thing in the early/mid 2000s? I do recall watching claymore on a week to week basis after a certain point. Aside from the odd shounen it was more about what older shows didn't you watch kinda thing.

Back then it was just a case of get what you could on late night Cartoon Network or on western release DVD. I don't recall us having seasons of anime at all, at least it's not a concept I was aware of until recently when Simulcast and the like became a thing.

I have a bit of a hunch about Priscilla and the one in the Cathedral. Something about scouters and power levels.

Theresa....man so much to say all summed up in the words “Read the Manga”

Claymore had a fantastic anime adaptation but it only told a small portion of the actual story.

Sadly we are all adulting so not much time to do that... oh well.

In other news I am still enjoying Space Dandy in Dub form, so ridiculous.

I do want to mention how surprisingly moving Darling in the Franxx got in episodes 10-12. This is some heavy ish for an anime that started off in...questionable territory.

wait darling in the franxx is good? what?

@ Markabot, this would have been mid 2000s so with the internet being around you started seeing a lot of fan subs emerging and you would DL subbed episodes. Quality of translation varied (i particularly liked the one sub i found for Ergo proxy, tons of annotations!). I even remeber watching bleach the fansubber had a link in the opening credit to their IRC channel.

I also recall subs being pretty quick. The subs for the latest bleach would come sub 24hrs after the RAW came out. Seasonal was a thing but it wasn't the way it is now. More emphasis was placed on older shows (liekly there was less on going crap)

Oi, I ain't a robot. I also vaguely remember the days of fansubs.

Is it just me or is this season incredibly sparse?

Not sure, I do find myself catching up on last season more than picking stuff up from this one though...

I just picked up B the beginning and I am thoroughly enjoying it. I suspect this was a hit last season but the dub completed this season and it's pretty decent as well so I'm loving it.

Netflix really seems to have zoned into my viewing tastes.

Nope. I think it's just that a bunch still haven't debuted yet and also Hero Academia/Steinsgate0 are drawing all the hype so the rest aren't being talked about much. I'm loving Lupin III part 5 and the new LotGH sofar, plus enjoying Shokugeki season 3.5, Cutie Honey Universe, Nobunaga's Shinobi Part 3, and Kitaro, and I still want to check out Tada-kun doesn't fall in love, Golden Kamui, Hinamatsuri, the SAO spin-off, Kakuriyo no Yadomeshi, Creatures Family, and Dragon Pilot Girl.

Dragon pilot girl (aka Hisone to Masotan) started yesterday and is amazingly weird and quirky but also very fun and has the whiff that it could be a huge sleeper hit. Highly encourage you to check out the first episode.

MHA ep 2 was ok. there's a build to it, some good action and a nice little hook for the seasons initial Arc.

Golden Kamuy episode one was pretty strong. As Claymore is to The Witcher, so this is to Prison Break, except the prisoners are all on the outside already.
