So, I just watched Kimi No Na Wa (Your name) at the cinema.
First of all, do not watch this movie at the cinema if you value your dignity.
Second, watch this damn movie!
Now, I'm a sucker for anything by Makoto Shinkai, the man has a direct line to my heartstrings much like Jun Maeda does, but while this was not the most gut wrenching of his films, it was still a work of art, and an exercise in making people FEEL.
Don't be silly, Silencer, it can't have been that emotional? Tell that to literally half of the cinema I just walked out of, who were in tears. (The other half was holding it together, mostly for the purpose of comforting the other half, lol). And I'm talking a full theatre. Like, same number of people in the screening of Fantastic Beasts I saw earlier today (so glad I saw them in that order, could not do another film at the moment). Full on crying. Because Makoto Shinkai is a monster when likes toying with people's emotions.
On the flip side of that, it was a great audience throughout. Everyone laughed, cried, and had a good time. But damn. Haven't seen a public display of emotion like that for a film, ever. Applause, sure. Laughter? Of course. But outright tears? (one guy two seats down from me was just about out of his seat in the fetal position, ffs)
And this wasn't even as emotionally crushing as 5cm/s!
But seriously, see this film. Just... Maybe not in a cinema. XD

<Vote Silencer> For not garnering any heat or any love for that matter. And I'm being serious here, it's like a mental block that is there, and you just keep forgetting it.
