Been watching the Toriko anime lately. Read the manga which is great, not sold on the anime yet though.

OK, it just hit me that we're only on episode 7 of Shin Sekai. And oh lord, it is FUCKING GODTIER. The little bits and pieces that are foreshadowed, but could go several ways, and then just pop out nicely later are really what make it, I think. And the whole semi-abstract nature of the story and art. It's kind of trippy, actually. In any case, this is going somewhere in my top 5 anime once it's done, I think; assuming they don't fuck up, which I seriously doubt at this point.

will definetly be checking it out once it finishes. Meanwhile i am loving psycho-ass. Urobochi;s vision of dystopia is comparable to 1984/brave new world. Can't wait to see where it goes.

You’ve never heard of the Silanda? … It’s the ship that made the Warren of Telas run in less than 12 parsecs.

Oh, shoot, I was wondering when the next Evangelion movie would hit. I really liked the first two - way better than the show in my opinion - and was curious to see if it stays that strong.

I love japanese people! They must be the craziest son of bitches the world has ever seen.
While looking for some of your guys suggestions I came across something called Sekirei. I swear to god the plot is how a 19 year old Japanese student has the power through his kisses to power up several aliens (who are all incredibly hot looking earth women, okay some are 'I guess' incredibly hot female looking men). Once he has kissed an alien they form a contract and they fight for him. He already has several women in 'Harem' who all compete for his affection and who cant seem to keep their clothes on through any fight.
I don't judge, I don't care, I find the show oddly amusing but I am just amazed at how something like this gets created. I cant imagine a show like this being created or even imagined in any other country but Japan. Hell their is even a very dodge angle to the show where one of the aliens is an eight year old girl and while nothing happens, and she is too innocent to know what it means but she fights for the main heroes affections with all the others and wants to be wife.

That 'dodgy' angle is like one of a million similar shows that feature horrendous sexualisation of children, which is pretty fucking disgusting personally! Not judging (much) but I do care.

Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

Ah, yeah, Anime has some 'interesting' takes on a lot of things; it's actually moderately surprising the eight-year-old doesn't know what it means and/or isn't the instigator. >.>
On a more positive note; Shin Sekai Yori keeps knocking me for six. Episode 8 was...unexpected, in many ways, even if it follows logically from episode 7. Weird, but amazingly so. XD

Anyone watching K? The visuals are stunning and the action seems good but I have no idea in regards to the storyline. Its rated pretty high though. Up there with SAO on realitylapse.

Me too. Since it just dropped in Japan though I imagine we ca expect to wait another year to see it here. At any rate, yes MUCH better than the show.

I just started watching this series :
Kokoro Connect
It's charming series about a group of highschool friends, a bit slice-of-life for many people's taste, except for the part where they keep randomly swapping bodies / consciousnesses.

Just watched the new psycho-pass episode. OMG!
Not only was it an amzing episode, it had Beethoven in the background and a quote from Soren Kierkegaard (father of existentialism for those who aren't big on philosophy).

forgot to mention, just finished watching Another yesterday, a very creepy horror anime, which is full of twist and also allows you to think,

My fave thing about the new Asuka...how she draws attention to her ridiculously over the top sexy outfit and how inappropriate and pervy it is. You gotta love Anno, always poking fun at Otaku's.

Then you must get a kick out of Mari. Sexy schoolgirl outfits aside, her created personality is overtly sexual, unlike the other two. I never understood the attraction otaku had towards Asuka/Rei - in the original series the only moderately normal (and therefore possibly attractive) personality was Misato.

K JUST BLEW ME OUT OF THE WATER.
Its typical shounen style action but so beautifully done! and there is a bit of a clever happening around the main character who we all suspect is some kind of wild card. Seven episodes in you get some really funny background comedy, decent plot development and a general idea of atleast three clans and what I suspect is a fast developing fourth. Its a solid anime. I'm biased because it is an artistic masterclass but still.

Yeah, Mari is endlessly interesting, if only because she's literally the embodiment of every high school boys dream...a girl who challenges him by actually offering what he claims to want and it REALLY freaks Shinji out. I'm thinking that scene where she tells him he smells of blood (from the Eva Plug) and start to crawl onto him and he backs up, shit scared of how forward she is being. It reminds me of that scene from Friends when Joey was razzing Rachel about having erotic books, until she offers him sex and he freaks out and say she's scared. It makes Mari a caricature, and not at all realistic, but I think that's the point of her, Anno is the type of person that loves to point this stuff out, as if to say...SEE, not exactly what you thought you wanted was it?
I guess that comes from a creator/writer who is so well acquainted with depression that he nearly committed suicide in the 90's.
RE: Mistao...If you watch it and imagine her as the main character, it kind of swings the entire series around...and you get to look at it from her angle making it even more fascinating. She's like the anomaly of normality swimming in a world of insanity.
