How in the heck was I supposed to know that was referring to Shirobako~!

For that matter, ep 13 of Exodues or Aerial Girls Squad, eh?! You are much too unclear.

Hello

Never been a fan of anime except for Ghibli stuff and I've just finished Berserk aaand it's fucking great. Particularly the darkness, brutality and humanity of it. The demons and atmosphere were like straight out of a painting by Bosch.

So could anyone recommend something similar in those terms with similar setting? Also the sequels or whatever they are, are they worth the time?

That's a bit of a tall order, since Berserk is one of the most widely acclaimed manga of all time

I expected as much but thought I'd try anyway so many thanks, will check them out and see where it leads me

Might actually give the manga a try at some point too, anyone has experience reading manga on Kindle?

Try Claymore. Imagine if all Witchers were women, cross them with Berserk and give them demon blood that means they have to straddle the line between human and abomination and you're about there.

With the caveat that I found Claymore soooooooo booooooring and wouldn't recommend it to anyone :p

They're pretty fab. And also cement even further the Aoi = Arupin and Aoi = Aria themes since you get to know those fiction-within-fiction characters better.

Yay! What did you think, what did you think, what did you think? Favourite real-life person reference? Character/part you wish we'd seen more of? Thoughts on Aoi's journey of self-realization? Who wins in a pirate doll vs plush bear deathmatch?

Aoi's response to the recording scene was beautiful. And matched mine.

Picked up a couple new shows:

Charlotte - I like the premise of these temporarily superpowered kids and the fact their powers have notable flaws and suchlike. The character interactions are pretty funny too.

Revisions - Generic premise, but well executed. The animation reminds me of Kado. The MC's screaming stupidity is kind of irksome (I must do what I want with my new mecha because it's my fuckin DESTINY bitches) but it's overall enjoyable enough to carry on with.

And mine. For sure.

I also really liked the more subdued scene at the end when the Aoi and her four friends are all together at the party and just quietly overjoyed at having fulfilled their original plan together.

Also I like every single other scene in the entire show. Because it's perfect.

Sirius the Jaeger

Any good?

Nope. There's two fights with above-average choreogaphy somewhere in there, and I liked the interactions between the human girl character, her parents, and the rest of the cast in the first half, but nothing else good to say about it. Tropey and bland urban fantasy vampire + last survivor of a mysterious village + long lost brother returns on the evil side stuff that you've seen many times elsewhere and the show has no interesting takes on any of it. Nor does it setup a good climax (the story is okay in the first half, but goes down into outright bad/boring in the second half) and the ending isn't really an ending, either!
