Ok, you're correct, changes will be made.
Indeed, the facebook page has been attended to.

Ok, what I'd like to be able to do is fill this up:
Capture.PNG (77.69K)
Number of downloads: 0
I realise that that's quite a lot for one person to fill so -- I already have Terez's submission -- if I could have two more short articles (preferably with headline titles) to fill the template with and an idea for the newsletter spotlight, that would be great. I'll try and find relevant pictures to insert and if that fails I'll just put in ones of Tairy. I'd still hope to be able to send Apt one of these newsletters a week.
Thanks for your hard work and dedication.
PS. I'll take out those 'More Details' links and whatnot.

Reason for edit: Different template -- I think it's better than the other one.

If possible, perhaps the spotlight could be the book coming out later this year, or something involving the actors from the TV show? I'd be willing to contribute something (article or spotlight), just need some time to think.

Sure, there's no rush -- I like to be able to send it by Thursday, if I can.

We should have a corner to bash other authors. And bash other non-Erikson authors that Apt likes.

Haha, that's certainly a possibility. I think it would need to be quite subtle, in the form of an unfavourable book review, perhaps.
May I suggest perhaps having an article on our supposed meet up in Australia (the one featured on facebook)? That might work well on our first newsletter.
Also, I think I'm going to send this out as issue 2, that way it will look like we'd started sending out newsletters before Apt was put on the mailing list.
EDIT: Please see the OP for another minor edit to our strategy. I hope you all find this acceptable.

Ah ended up having a power cut this morning and on my day off too, so I have just caught up with team announcements. I can write a blog post saying that the second newsletter is on its way to cover all ground. I'd be more than happy to write something for it, should we post it up here first or send it straight to you?

Best not to do that, to be honest, otherwise we'll actually have to start sending newsletters to everone. Contributing to articles is much appreciated though. I don't mind what you do, but if you send them straight to me, can you just post here to let me know that you've sent it, please?

Okay, done a short article on meeting the man, I've tried to keep it serious and not too sarcastic, and unspecific since I have obviously never met him. If this is useless just scrap it and tell me to do something of more use.
Meeting with the GoodKing
My first encounter with the works of Goodkind, in my teenage years, was a truly magical time. His books helped shape me, he provided me with a role model outside of the superficial world of celebrity and the themes of his work echoed the weakly considered opinions of my philosophical infancy, helping to strengthen them and give them a context outside of the world which we live in. It was always me dearest wish to meet my hero, he who so shaped and influenced me and a few years ago that wish was realized.
I packed up the day before, seven large books secure in my luggage, and set out to a book signing by the man himself. My memories of the details surrounding the eight-hour trip are rather hazy but I remember meeting the man himself in vivid detail. We exchanged a few words, me, stuttering nervously as I tried to verbalize how his masterpiece had influenced me. He was extremely gracious throughout my search for words, pointing out when I apologized that there was no need for me to worry on that point, it was his job to find the words for people like me. He shook my hand, and I, in wonder and awe, saluted him before walking out of that place feeling like I had in fact been blessed.
If ever any of you get the chance to meet this King of fantasy, grab that chance with both hands and may his blessings rein down upon you!

Excellent! Can I have a name to put with that? I'll show it as some kind of received letter.

Magic I wasn't sure if it was the right type of thing. You can put it under the name I used for the Blog Stephen or just something generic, Donald?

I was imagining something more...informative, I suppose, specifically about Goodkind's Goodfolk but letters from the 'public' are definitely good to include.
Also, what should we call the newsletter? I was thinking something like The GoodWord but that sounds rather cheesy...any better ideas?

The GoodNews but that's equally as cheesy to be honest, although as a group Goodkind's Goodfolk is cheesy so either wouldn't feel out of place.

I just read that, too. Perhaps we need to be more forceful, I dunno.
Anyway, here's the newsletter at the moment -- it still needs a short second article and something to put as the spotlight. Also my apologiees to Terez -- I had to shorten and reword your article a little so that I could fit it in and still have enough room for article 2:

This is how it'll look as an email:

Just noticed it -- I'll remove the hyphenation from the captions on the right.
What do you lot think?

I think it looks awesome, very official like. If they want frothing at the mouth we can froth, but it would probably have to be mild frothing so as not to rouse too much suspicion at the drastic change in tone.

Maybe a "To the Editor" or other kind of write-in bit, where Goodfolk can email the group with tales of how they converted non-believers, sneakily placed copies of WFR into unsuspecting commuters' bags, etc. etc.?
