The Liar's Key is out in the UK today, so that's every big English-speaking nation except Australia/New Zealand (on the 22nd).

So I finished liars key and I loved it. Just fun story telling. I appreciated the whole trading aspect with taxation issues. Such a fun read. I hope that you continue on building this world.
How many fucking people do I have to hammer in order to get that across.

Let me know your thoughts when you finish, if you don't mind. I read it recently too.

I enjoyed the journey but mixed feelings about the ending. When did we learn that

nearing the halfway mark, not sure if its my limited reading time or what but it feels a lot slower than prince of fools, still enjoying it, but will wait until the end before final judgement.
Is it a longer book than POF?

The pace definitely picked up.
Just this minute finshed Liars Key. As enjoyable as the first, looming forward to the third.
Very keen to see how it ties in with emperor.

Good to hear.

The Liar's Key is my longest book ~176,000 words compared to Prince of Fools ~130,000 and Prince of Thorns ~82,000.

The Wheel of Osheim is out next June:

Just finished Liar's Key and loved it, more than I thought I would actually. I think I had a Jorg hangover for Prince of Fools and I was still sulking that we wouldn't get to see more of Jorg, I didn't enjoy it as much as I should, though it was still a very good book, what can I say, I loved the Broken Empire series!

But this topped the lot for me, my favourite yet, I think I enjoyed it so much due to the world building and the expanding out of the story, we learnt so much more about the big game afoot and it flowed at a great pace! Jal is a great character, very different to Jorg and it works!

I'll look forward to a full reread of these and the Broken Empire series when this is wrapped up next year. Looking forward to seeing where it goes.

Loved that ending also, very last lines, perfect!

I have purchased Emperor (dead tree style) and am now preparing myself to read it. If it is comparable to KoT, then I will use every spare second to read it once I start.

Picked up Liar's Key today, just ripping through Prince of Fools for a refresh and reminder about who, what, where and when.

Looking forward to it though.

Re-reads are always a compliment, but for those in a hurry there is, before the story, a quick run-through in The Liar's Key of the main points of Prince of Fools.

I always re-read if i pick up a sequel.

If i didn't enjoy the first book enough to pick up the sequel, I never re-read it.

This lead to some lengthy re-reads on Malazan though, by the time TCG rolled around i had to re-read 12 books (I include ICE's).
If i'm honest it's probably the reason i never finished WoT. After Path of Dragging I decided i'd wait till the series was finished before picking them up and reading in one go.... By the time Sanderson finished them, I couldn't muster the enthusiasm to do so.

You're welcome, thank you for writing quality novels. Perhaps I can use it to lever myself out of a reading slump. It's been 2 weeks since I read anything more exciting than a spreadsheet or financial statement.

Not sure where to put this on the board - but it involves (lots) of Malazan characters and some of mine, so I'll put it here and let you guys repost it if you want.

Best Fantasy characters ever? You get 3 votes - if your guy's not on the list add them.

http://www.bestfanta...ion-characters/

Over 5000 votes from more than 1500 people so far!

I went for Tyrion, Cugel the Clever, and Kvothe.

Currently reading Prince of Fools. 1/2 through and it seems like the story just got started. Like, how could this be an entire book?

Time will tell.

Love your stuff Mark.
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....
