Not that I've had much interaction with other players so far, but compared to other mmos, these guys seem fairly nice and helpful. Maybe I'm wrong though.

I don't often buy full-price games, these days, but I bought this at full price and maintain that it was worth every bit of those 2999 pennies.

EDIT: It took me a week to stop thinking about it and move on to a different game.

Didn't know you played EVE Mess. I am on first break from it, 3 months now. Played since 2008, two accounts. Went from miner, to mission runner, to RvB, to Pirate, to FW, to Anti-Pirate and back again to RvB. Watching the Alliance Tournament makes me wasn't to resub again. . .

Obdigore if you are looking for more pvp orientated learning (read you were trying to join Eve-Uni) try joining RvB (Red federation or Blue Republic) for a bit. Make sure you have some funds though as you will lose a lot of ships. Also Agony Empire do pvp classes and roams pretty regularly, just search them in game and check their info pages should give you enough details on where to go.

I can't stop playing Rogue Legacy. It's got me bad. It's like FTL. I just need one more try. Just 2000 gold. Just need to get that fairy chest. One more mini boss run. It's so fiendishly addicting.

Restarted my legacy yesterday because I'd sunk too much money in the wrong upgrades. This time around I am focusing on upgrading my money skills first and I am desperately trying to find a hoarding rune. Still haven't found any but I've found a couple vampire rune's which has helped me stay alive for longer.

First of all, who needs Elizabeth when you are capable of making every citizen/soldier in Colombia into a superhuman killing machine? If Elizabeth was always meant to take over Comstocks place then why didn't he spend her childhood years indoctrinating her? She shows no signs of having been tutored by Comstock. Where does Comstocks prophetical abilities come from? Booker shows no signs of having this power. Is it from a different reality where Booker spent years/decades travelling in time with Elizabeth making him aware of what would happen if he decided to destroy the world? If so, where is that Elizabeth who took him through time now? And if he knows the future why didn't he make better plans? Did he want Booker to kill him? To what end? And how does killing future Booker in the past change the present day? Unless they go back and kill proto-Booker before wounded knee I don't see how this changes anything. They are only making one new time line where Booker dies. The whole theory of the multiverse would suggest that no matter how many Bookers they kill, there will always be one future where Booker becomes Comstock and Elizabeth destroys the world. So what is the point in the end? Nothing has changed. The characters the we meet and the one we play, changes profoundly, and they get some kind of closure but it's just one thread. I am guessing there is some red line connected with Booker and the nose bleeds but I fought that was a strange narrative device.

I’m going to start with the end, so to speak.

They didn’t just kill one Comstock, they destroyed the point where Booker becomes Comstock.

Bioshock Infinite, or all three Bioshocks as it turns out, talks about the idea of every choice creating a divergence, a point where your universe splits into two. One where you chose to eat an apple, one where you didn’t. So technically there’s not an infinite number of universes, but to us there might as well be since the amount of choices made are too many to be counted, or even grasped. Still, there are limits. There is not one universe where instead of eating an apple you were eaten by a lion. We’re still limited to what is possible and lions are not plentiful in Norway. There’s not a universe where I go on from that point to become a physicist.

The branches are not in any way infinite. Limit your scope and you’ll even be able to count them.

This can be understood from the scene where Booker encounters the twins for the first time. Every time a version of Booker enters Columbia he always gets the same result tossing a coin. Some things are absolute, but the variables may change, as Elizabeth puts it.

The nose bleeds, as far as I understood it, represents overlap, positions where many Bookers come in contact. Different universes but the same situation. Constants and variables.

Choices make new universes, and so you have many thousands of universes where Comstock built Columbia. Hundreds where Booker goes to Columbia to save Elizabeth (if one had the inclination I guess one could count the amount of heads he’s thrown when he encounters the twins for the first time). Trying to end it there would obviously be foolish. Rather they go back to where Booker makes the choice giving birth to Comstock, in order to “smother him in his crib”. There’s more than one path leading to that choice, naturally, but then there’s more than one Elizabeth too.

So everything has changed. Booker will never become Comstock, because that one divergence, his choice to accept the baptism, has been removed, cut off from the stem so to speak. Sadly, by doing this the Elizabeth you’ve come to know is also removed. Booker will raise his child Anna, but the Elizabeth living in a tower in a floating city will never exist. It’s rather depressing.

As for Comstock and Elizabeth:

Comstock was scared of her. Her abilities were utterly incomprehensible and terrifying in their power. As a young girl she could move universes at will. No wonder then that he built a prison designed to dampen her abilities, and for that matter protect her from the Booker he knew would come for her. Why would he need to indoctrinate her? Comstock was a conduit for God and she was his daughter. She would take his place and continue God’s work, he had already seen it.

However, Comstock never could see the future. It was established fairly early that his powers of prophecy were born not from some divine gifts, but rather insights given by Robert/Rosaling Lutece. Not born out of prophecy but probability I think was the phrase used.

Furthermore, Comstock didn’t take Anna/Elizabeth for her powers. Those were an accident born of her being present in two realities simultaneously (her body in one, the tip of her finger in the other). He took her because he wanted a child to carry on his legacy. Hardly a unique position.

I've heard a lot of good stuff about the Persona games. For someone who has never played any of them, is it worth starting with the first game? Graphics don't bother me as long as the gameplay is decent and there's a good story behind it.

Hmmm...it's pretty optional as to where you start. The stories are decent in most of them (though I'd say, the overall story is less important than individual character relationships, for these games), but the best are Persona 3, Persona 4 (Persona 4 Golden, if you're on the Vita), more than the earlier games. Those first ones have less refined mechanics too, so probably aren't as fun overall. I wouldn't recommend starting on them unless you're prepared for that sort of experience - go for the more recent couple if you just want to enjoy the games and the stories they have.

And the AI in EU4 is certainly vastly improved. Having extracted Norway from Denmark's damp clutches I've been able to, with quite some aid from Norway's unique abilities (a new addition), become perhaps the greatest trade power of the north. Sweden, not much in favour of Norway spending it's now substansial income on dangerous activities, fabricated an insult, went to war and won. My fleet crushed the Swedes, but their army was twice the size of mine.

They didn't claim a single territory. Rather they demanded 50% of my trade power in Lubeck. Now Sweden has both the largest army and the highest trade income.

Have started playing Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons on Xbox 360. What a wonderfully imaginative game. It takes a little getting used to the controls. You control big brother with left stick, left trigger / little brother with right stick, right trigger (it's kind of like walking and chewing bubble gum at the same time for you klutzes out there). The controls are not what make it imaginative (& awesome!) however, it's the story and puzzles (the troll sequence had me wide eyed and mouth agape). I've read awesome reviews about this title and so far it has not disappointed.

Okami HD. Fun game so far, I love the art style. I have the Wii version but using the Wii controller is hell, especially with the cysts that form on my wrists.

Dead Space 3. I never planned on getting it because screw micro-transactions, but it was in the EA humble bundle. Not sure how I feel about it so far. Kind of seems like they've forgone horror completely, but I'm less than an hour into the game. (Dead Space 2 spoilers follow) It also pisses me off that Isaac didn't die at the end of 2. I'm one of the few people I know who actually prefer the second game to the first - I thought the psychological aspect of Isaac losing his shit was great. And the ending scene where he sits down after destroying the marker with the building falling down around him was great...until stupid one-eyed lady arrived to save him. It would have been a great conclusion to his story, but no, they had to go for a cheesy Hollywood rescue.

Mirror's Edge. Again, not that far into this one yet, but it seems like it'll be pretty fun.

Best game ever! The story is crap, but the movement of the character is beyond anything else I've played. The feel of it is amazing and the options afforded you on each level is amazing. Play through it, try a few time trials, then go on the internet and watch how some other people do it. Ingenious!
