Just can't seem to turn off Rome 2.

I've just begun my invasion of Spain, needless to say those spaniards, or whatever they are (barbarians) will bow before the Eagle of be destroyed! After them it's either Gaul or the rest of Greece.

I fucking love this game!
Screw you all, and have a nice day!

How are you finding the non battle stuff? Like the diplomacy for example is it still ridiculous or is it a viable option now for conquest. Or is it still 2 full stacks of 20 surrounding the last city full of peasants and them laughing off your overtures of peace and vassalage.

I also never played empire but how does the naval stuff go?

I haven't been able to drag myself away from my EUIV Byzantium game to get that much time in with Rome II to be honest.

Are you playing Ironman? It has made my games a lot more interesting for sure. I think when I've succeeded with Morocco to my satisfaction I will go ahead and turn Mecca orthodox with Ethiopia.

Indeed I am. I'm a sucker for achievements and it keeps me honest. :( The frequency of the autosaves can get a little obnoxious though.

I'm going to have to start a new game soon because I'm only just over a hundred years from finishing my Byzantium one. Don't think I'll re-establish the empire in the west but I've given a good whack of it i think. I now own all of Trajan's empire in the east, as well as all of Italy bar a few provinces and the eastern half of North Africa from Tunis to Gibraltar. Now I'm facing the big boys in Spain and Portugal, and I'm all alone now because nobody of any significance will ally with me. I had a centuries-long alliance with France, but they took a rather huge chunk out of the HRE in the north and apparently because of the AE they got I broke the alliance, and now I can't ally with them for at least a decade because I'm outraged apparently. GB has been Defender of the Faith for decades too so I've been warring with them pretty constantly as well. Frustrating but I suppose I don't really need them anymore when I can field 150k men and 3/3/3 advisors comfortably. Russia's looking a bit menacing around the Caucasus though, they've recently set me as a rival.

Question: have you built any of the buildings? Besides a couple of the unique ones and one or two ordinaries I haven't seen much point, as my monarch points are more valuably spent elsewhere. A shame too because I have more money than I know what to do with now I've figured out how to use the trade system effectively.

I think my next game I'll unite India under one banner and destroy any Western ship foolish enough to set foot upon the subcontinent.

Quite frankly, the diplomacy part for me in Rome has never really been that big of a deal with me, I usually just trample the other nations into dust and conquer their cities. In Rome 2 I mostly use it for trade routes.

The fleet action is rather different from Empire, meaning it's been simplified quite alot. In Empire there were all kinds of things you had to take into account and while there is a tactical element to it in Rome 2 it's really not that detailed. I'm more interested in the land battles.
Screw you all, and have a nice day!

Back to Dark Souls. Just took down Pinwheel. To be honest, that bloke was less of a bother than the bone wheel skeletons in the grotto before his room. After he was dispatched off I promptly fell to my death trying to navigate my way to the next level by those pixie lights. Then I fell to my death again through sheer and utter stupidity when I wanted to go back to that place, losing 30000 souls. Fuck me I hate this game.

With no exchange/demand of territory, it is less of a conquering tool, but the AI makes nice rational suggestions (although it does rebuff the suggestion Trade Agreements early game a lot). The AI does deal well with the war-goal option (asking an ally to take certain provinces)

I also never played empire but how does the naval stuff go?

The main issue with naval combat is that land units on transport ships pack higher numbers of crew than regular ships. As such, transported melee infantry become insanely strong at boarding action and transports with skirmishers are better launching platforms than dedicated early game raiders/pursuit/support boats. Basically, if you can't ram them into oblivion, taking a fleet of transports on is difficult. Even more so since CA buffed the transport turning speed last Friday.

Other than that, I quite like naval combat for precisely the reason Prim dislikes it: it's now all about maneuvering your ships individually for the best ramming angle/evasive action rather than crossing the T and pressing the broadside button before swerving and trying to reduce sails or hull to zero.
That always felt like a numbers game to me, where this is more straightforward combat.

Frustrating to say the least. I stopped playing when I reached the 4 Kings. I don't know what to do, it's so damn difficult and I lost interest in gathering souls for the level up.

Since I lost my save game I havnt been able to start another file. Ive been playing Farcry 3 for a while now and I have been enjoying it though the hunting is the most fun for me for some reason. Still very enjoyable though ive only done like 2 main missions.

I've pounded my head against the wall up in Anor Lando against a couple of Dark Knights(?) with bows that shoot javelin-sized arrows. Placed to create a crossfire enfilade at approaching players, you must sprint across narrow roof ledges to get at them, then try to lure one into the shadow o some tower so that you don't get shot off the building while taking him out. After about 132 tries I got that far, but when I was about to take on the other fellow I got hit when I thought I was safe and I fell to my doom. I actually uninstalled the game at that point. Took me about three weeks to cool down and reinstall it.

I know the part you mean, once you get past them though you end up creating a shortcut so you don't have to go that way again.
