Wrapped up Biomorph yesterday. Solid game, 30 h to 100% the map.

Ereban will be the first thing I'll play on the new build once I make it this weekend. In the meantime, gonna play some more Ultros.

Beat Ereban on the weekend. Nice, breezy stealth game that doesn't overstay its welcome. Some controls (wall jump) were finicky, leading to a bunch of deaths into bottomless pits, cuz Ayana would miss the ledge. So I need to replay those levels to get those S ranks. Once you finish the game you can replay each chapter with all gadgets and skills still unlocked to better your ranking for a sort of New Game Plus lite. Each chapter has 3 possible "medals"- ghost, merciful (no kills or ruthless ( i think 100% kills), with the last 2 being mutually exclusive obviously. I did merciful for most of the game (except level 1), because by level 2 you find out the android SYMs actually have personalities, so I felt bad about "neutralizing" them. The game also gives you a choice of "light" and "dark" shadow power skill trees, and I maxed out light (geared towards being quick and sneaky), so I might do a dark powers/kill everyone run on another save just to get more achievements.

Overall, solid little game, fun idea for a stealth game.

I'm really enjoying Dragons Dogma 2.

Precisely, I believe, for all the reasons it actually got criticised for.

It has a very pretty landscape to explore, and some non-taxing but enjoyable fights with some big beasties, while the pawn varieties and vocations mean there are a lot of ways to play.

Also had another run through Little Nightmares yesterday with the boy - such a creepy, weird but well made little game.

So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

Moonlight Pulse came out yesterday, and just as I expected from the demo, it's pretty great. I lead a team of somewhat anthropomorphic animals to protect the giant space turtle that is our home from various space parasites that want to destroy it.

Getting around requires switching between characters, as they all have different platforming abilities, as well as advantages against diff enemy types in combat. Nothing super-complicated, but neat.

Aztech: Forgotten Gods is a hidden gem of 2022. Essentially, you play as a delivery girl from an archeologist family, and you fly around Cyber-Tenochtitlan punching out giant Aztech deities with an oversized gauntlet. Which doubles as a jetpack, which is how you are flying.

It's got indie/AA production values, the voicework is limited to grunts, there's too much dialogues that require mashing enter after every phrase, and there's some obvious clipping bugs. Also, there's like 3 enemy types, which is usually something I complain about non-stop, but in this particular game, I honestly don't care, because mooks are only there to farm gold (used to buy upgrades) and silver (used to buy outfits and hairstyle cosmetics), and the whole point of the game is punching out giant bosses. Who are appropriately magnificent.

Picked up a few games in the PS sales...

High-Fi Rush which I am really enjoying.

Also got Live a Live, Double Dragon Gaiden and Octopath Traveler 2.

Really looking forward to Octopath.

Finished "Crown of Wu" by beating the final boss.

I would be reluctant to recommend this game, unfortunately. The basic platforming and combat mechanics and associated animations are just too poorly implemented to be enjoyable. I like the ideas behind the level design, and the mix of platforming, puzzle and stealth mechanics; but the way it actually plays it's just... not fun.

Bought early access for Hades 2. I had no hesitation since Hades was such a good game and I actually bought EA to Hades 1 though very late in its development and it’s such a good game.

So far Hades 2 is not living up to its previous games glory but it took a while to realize it. Compared to Hades 1 in which EA started off with just one arena of the eventual 4 and also just 1 weapon of the eventual 5 or six starting this game with many more arenas and weapons already unlocked seemed like a big improvement.

However they seem to have developed the wrong things. The game is already larger than hades 1 but hades 1 the joy was slow improvements from each death but more than that was trying to discover builds that worked and which were better and there were several. Booms were good and exciting and unlocking them and figuring out what synergies was amazing. You start out like a complete noob and eventually can build devastating combos.

In Hades 2 the booms suck, the weapons suck and there is no clear building of synergies. When I see Selene the goddess who gives you access to your ultimate abilities I actually feel disappointed at having to get a trash pickup instead of something good.

Beat a few more indie janky action things.

"Nine Nights" is a china-themed take on prince of Persia- linear wall-running platforming, combat-focused affair. The story is a typical kung-fu fable tripe, and there were some clipping bugs in one area. But overall, it's pretty neat.

Also, finally beat "Third Eye". which is a Hindu-mythos inspired God of War-lite. Decent, for a short game, but enemy variety is really poor, and the last boss is one of the most tedious things ever.

"Deliver Us the Moon" was pretty neat. Probably gonna play "Deliver Us Mars" next. Morbid 2 is out tomorrow, so that's gonna be a new game for the long weekend.

Dragon Age: Inquisition Game of the Year Edition is free for a limited time at Epic Games:

Dragon Age: Inquisition – Game of the Year Edition | Download and Buy Today - Epic Games Store

The non-GOTY edition was iirc the last game I played. But it's pretty good. Decent writing for the in-game reading material too.

Rakugaki has some crazy big levels. They hide those screens pretty well.

Such a tonal shift after finishing Deliver Us the Moon and Deliver Us Mars back-to-back. A shame the developer had to fold, they will be trying to fund the threquel, Deliver Us Home thru Kickstarter.

Been messing about with StarCraft II again on the new PC.

Making my way thru Wings of Liberty on Hard. Did the alternative missions for Tosh and Colonists stories, just to grind out the extra achievements. Might do a Normal run for all the extra Anniversary achievements.

Last time I tried this, I got bored out of my mind about halfway thru Heart of the Swarm. We'll see how long I last this time.

I'm sorry, I never owned an iDevice, so it'd have to be an MP3 player. And I post on FB around 6 or 7 times a year (big holidays, mostly), though being the only non-LinkedIn social media thing I even registered for, it's still a useful to have as a birthday reminder.

Rogers just gave me free Disney+ with my cable. Is ScottPilgrim available on that?

Finished AC Odyssey a while back, Then cranked through Jedi: survivor, and am now deep into AC Valhalla.

Jedi survivor was decent although I should have waited until I was all done with the AC games. The firing is better in AC and it made Jedi easier. The story was really solid though.

Really loving the AC games though.
How many fucking people do I have to hammer in order to get that across.

I finished Control, dlc included, and had a blast.

The Ashtray Maze was one of the best 7 minutes of gaming I've had in a long time.
Remedy do such a good job of building a story through the various film clips, documents and recordings scattered through the game. The detail, lighting effects and extra dimensional environments made it even better. I got more hooked as I went along, and the powers increase to godlike status by the end - and then you get the Ashtray Maze to use all of them in.

Because of the Alan Wake crossover, I've started AW remastered. And all I can say is, it's frustrating as hell. I want the story, but the slow, clumsy combat and constant battery/ammo changes put it on the opposite end of the spectrum to Control. I want to finish it but my god the gameplay is repetitive.
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

Still Wakes the Deep -- pretty good! Combines walking simulator with survival horror. Fairly short and easy overall, and not particularly scary to me, but that's a case-by-case basis thing for folks. Good story, good setting (an oil rig out on the sea), good atmosphere, and solid right-on-the-sleeve influences (namely The Thing and Alien). Some of the survival mechanics that get introduced are way under-utilized though -- so like in terms of game play, it shows potential but doesn't always meet it -- and it could have used a bit more prologue to flesh out some characters. There's some, it's just not long enough before things go to hell.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.
