Almost finished with Va-11 Hall-A. The writing in this game is stellar. I'm gutted I didn't play it closer to launch.

New Last Season (28) of Diablo III is super fun I have to admit!

Played about 6 hours of "Scars Above" last night.

It's basic, but fun. Each level has either new enemies, or some gimmicky mechanic. The puzzles aren't particularly difficult, but can require some thinking. There's a few optional areas with extra weapon upgrades and and experience cubes (your main source of extra EXP, which you need to get skill points for some passive buffs), but overall it's fairly linear.

EDIT: Chapter 5 shows the devs really liked System Shock 2. As I've previously suspected.

Getting to end now, waiting for the inevitable twist.

Finished Scars Above. Solid 8.5/10.

Final boss was annoying AF though.

Moved onto "Evil West". picked "Hard" difficulty, after 4 missions I feel that may have been a mistake.

Metroid Prime Remastered. My all-time favourite game, back from when I got it on Game Cube on release day, now looking sexy as hell and playing like a dream - and on handheld too.

Beat the second boss in Evil West.

Once I finish the game on Hard, I'll probably go back to it on Normal difficulty and just breeze through the whole thing.

Rumour has it that 2 and 3 will be coming to Switch but not fully remastered like 1. Shame, but I'll be delighted to play 2 again with the new controls - I remember the Cube controller turning my hands into claws when I played the first two games lol

You know what, if it's the legacy (GC) version I'm for it. I heard the difficulty got nerfed hard in the Wii version. But I loved how unforgiving Prime 2 was.

Tactics Ogre Reborn is scratching my turnbased gaming itch at the minute. Really enjoying it. Cannot remember anything from the SNES version too so like a full new game.

I also got the DLC for Midnight Suns. More of the same, if you love the game you will love the DLC.


And finally PS5 Monkey Island, that is next up!

Bah, Evil West runs out of enemy types like 6 levels before the end. Boo.

I think I'm on the last level now (possibly second last). Encounters are getting more annoying, b/c they are packed with enemies that have armor that needs to be taken down before I can zap them. And also a bunch of them do long leaps & AoE attacks. incredibly annoying.

EDIT: finished, 36 hours to credit (on Hard)

The last few levels were decidedly unpolished, both in terms of bugs (4 crashes in total, plus tons of clipping bugs), and also in terms of encounter design becoming increasingly tedious.

At least the final 2 bosses auto-save after each stage of the fight.

Soulstice is a fun DMC-like, but some of the challenge rooms suck.

Nearly at the end of Soulstice. It's got some very anime moments, but the gameplay's fun, especially once you unlock the combos and the game clicks.


second-last boss had the option to fly up to where you need to jump up a bunch of floating platforms to get to her. And platforming with fixed aspect camera continues to suck- especially when you've got time limts before the platforms fade away.

Thankfully, if you struggle enough for her to get hit by stray rocks, she comes down herself. Though the last phase of that fight is pretty mental- I wasted both my revive items and all health pickups, and beat her on my last sliver of health.

Let's see how tough the final boss ends up being.

Got Euro Truck Simulator 2 in a bundle and decided to give it a go. Turns out it's awesome. It's all the cool shit about running a truck company and driving trucks... without any of the responsibility, pains and downsides. Got to say, though, that the road map is extremely simplistic and out-of-date, but... it is an 11 year old game. I'm a bit scared by the great big pile of DLC it has, though, potentially could be a biiig money sink as well.

Ok, so the ending took 2 levels, but only a couple of tries each.
About 31 hours in total to get to credits. And the post-credit scene suggests there should definitely be a sequel.

not quite had my action fix yet, so I'm gonna see what Hi-Fi Rush buzz's been all about. I picked it up as a Fanatical flash deal for 25% off this week.
I have no idea how to play rhythm games, so this should be interesting

Pushing onwards in Dread. Feeling a love hate relationship with it so far. On one, the movement is great, it feels nice to control, it's a new 2D Metroid.

On the other hand, aiming is terrible (possibly a function of being stuck using joycons), combat is average to tedious (the melee system is particularly unpleasant to use and I hate that the devs expect it to be such a core part of any encounter) and the EMMI give me advanced leprosy directly inside the asshole.

I feel like I'll probably finish it but that'll be it, I don't feel compelled to find everything which is a weird feeling as someone who grew up with this series.
