Played thru the 1st major area of Outcast: Second Contact.

The skybox looks amazing, the music is God-tier. Combat is janky, and exploration gameplay is so-so. A bunch of conversations and fetch quests, not really a lot of originality so far.

But the world looks gorgeous, and this is pretty damn ambitious for a prettied-up 1999 game. Also, the enemies should start getting weaker now, which should make them far less bullet spongy.

Bought Power Wash Simulator for PS5.

I already played through the game twice on Xbox but I loved the game enough that'll play through the game on PS5 and get the trophies as an excuse for playing through the game one more time.

Along with the PS5 release there's also 5 new levels that are Tomb Raider related, like power washing Croft Manor. I'm gonna wash the fuck out of Lara's stuff.

I should re-download it and go through those. Wonder how they got five levels out of it?

I've been playing a lot of Tunic on the Switch. It's a great travelling game. At home Victoria 3 has been consuming what little free time I have. I will build my south american enlightened superpower, I just need to break into the chinese markets so I get my trade deficit dealt with. And figure out how to get the catholics to agree to religious freedom for all, so that all my muslim imigrants from the Balkans working in my mines and my farms and my factories wont rebell and start a revolution

Picked up Stranded Deep on Game Pass. Feels decent so far.

I enjoyed this. If you want to up the survival elements, try Green Hell next.
Using ants for stitches, brewing plants for medicine, and the building mechanic is great. I finished the story, but dip in on survival as I'm building a decent base.
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

Is it in need of "a good wash"? :D

I didn't get very far into it. I largely picked it up as a streaming game, but it dislike OBS and the... uh, other program I use for that sort of thing. Never you mind the second one. I don't know what you're talking about. Huh?

Now they're releasing a Midgard (Final Fantasy 7) map pack in March and I'm not even through the second level of the Tomb Raider map pack yet

Went back to Outcast. Did the Mountain region tonight.

I really need to spend some cash to buy a rifle. This swampy place is gonna involve fighting some big fish and other monsters, it would seem.

Transferred Days Gone to ps5 and finished the main story.

Seriously underrated game. The giant horde at sawmill was a blast to plan and execute. And now the story is finished, the world is open to mop up the rest.
That's how you finish an open world game. Take that, BotW.
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

Had a plan that I was going to play a lot of Metroid Prime this weekend. Instead I find myself completely consumed by WarioWare Inc Mega Microgames on the Gameboy Advance.

My god these mini games are fiendish. Stupidly simple but tweaked just right that you're struggling to keep up as the speed increases.

I need to play all these WarioWare games.

I heard they added a zoomer run and gun aim mode for Prime? I gotta say I don't dig that. If it's a toggle then fine but a big part of Prime's appeal for me was that the combat was fast but deliberate due to the nature of the aiming mechanics.

Balls deep in the Darkest Dungeon right now. Week 14, no deaths yet.

You can chose between various control setups, modern, classic, something in between.

Hmmm... If it opens more folk to Metroid, who is a cool guy and doesn't afraid of anything...

Oh, I finished my first normal mode run on FTL a couple nights back. The luck was DISGUSTING.

Crystal A
- first store had halberd and fire bomb
- event shortly after gave pre-igniter
- triple shop later with 2x flak1 and stealth
- crystal homeworlds
- Flagship fired stage 3 surge and missed every shot with 40% dodge

Finished Outcast: Second contact.

There's a few nuggets of interesting ideas regarding the biomes and puzzles in here, but it's all fairly basic (which makes sense, given the game's age). There's a good deal of stuff to build on for the upcoming sequel.

For now I'm going back to the pile of demos. Scars Above is supposed to be out next week.

I'd forgotten how much old games save systems sucked, until I played Metroid Prime Remaster. Or maybe I've just become spoiled by auto saves and generous checkpoints.

Prime save stations are like Dark Souls bonfires, because they're few and far between, only worse because you're not losing experience. You're losing all game progress since the last time you saved. I think I lost like 30-60 minutes of game time yesterday.

I'd gotten my charge shot, morph ball bombs, some weird chozo relic. All gone after I fell into a pool of poison.

Rage quitted and played WarioWare instead.

I... Prime 1 isn't a hard game, I think in all the years I've had it and played through it (approx 10 runs) I've died all of once and that was to something really daft like the Wasp Nest boss.

I don't agree that the system sucks - there's a save room almost always before a boss room and beyond that you shouldn't be dying far from a save point. It's a little punishing in the early game due to being smol but it's a staple of the series.

Now Prime 2 on the other hand, ho fucking boy absolutely fuck the long hike to the Boost and Spider Guardians that DON'T have save points near the boss and in the case of the SG, that you can't get back to a save point once committed to the path. Now THAT's difficulty.

I hope beyond hope that the Prime 2 Remaster doesn't have the WII nerfed Spider Guardian because the OG was the winnowing, the wall, the litmus test.

The demo for Wo Long is a lot of fun.

It's like Sekiro, but on steroids.
