It's a very good game. Probably wont take you more than a couple hours to play through it but it will probably also be the purest gaming experience you will ever have experienced.

When I finished that game I felt like I'd travelled a thousand miles.

In other news I just finished the second episode of The Walking Dead.

Fuck. FUUUUUUUCCCKKK. Fuckfuckfuck. Fuck... Fuck... Oh man fuck.

Seriously, everybody should play this game. Oh god this is a fucked up story. Fuck. Fuuuuuuuuucccckk. I am going to go watch some carebear cartoons now.

I need to go play some kind of nice violent murder simulator to get some relief from this horrible game.

Seriously, it doesn't matter if you're not into "Point and click" type of adventures, or that you prefer more interactivity or freedom, you need to experience this shit. One thing is to watch a zombie move or read a book about zombies, it's a whole other thing being the one forced to make those fucked up decisions that means that one person lives and another dies in the most terrible way.

A game that is PS3 exclusive and worth your time is Papo & Yo. It's a platform/puzzle type game that isn't all that exceptional but what makes the game stand out is it's story. There's many write ups about the game you can find that do a much better job then I could describing the game. Anyway, if you have a PS3, give it a go.

It should be added though that - according to what I've heard and read - the game is an ugly and glitch mess, handles poorly and the game world is somewhat desolate. That aside I still want to play it some time for the story.

But in terms of quality and impact papo e yo isn't in the same weight class as Journey. They're not even competing in the same league.

^^^ My experience with Papo & Yo wasn't as terrible as you describe. I did run into a glitch where I had to start the level over but that was it as far as glitchiness in the game for me. The controls aren't the best but you get used to them. And I wouldn't describe the world as desolate. There is actually some very stylistic graffiti art throughout the game.

I think Papo & Yo is similar to Journey in the way it pulls emotions out of you, particularly the endings of both games. Journey is hard to top though, it is a game that fires on all cylinders.

Thanks, I'll definitely check it out. Is it hard to get hold of though, as I just looked on Amazon and there's only a special edition US import, with Flower and Flow included. Which isn't cheap.
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

It's a downloadable title on Playstation Network. As long as you can go online with your PS3, you can buy and download it.

picked up Mount And Blade Bundle during the Steam Sale.

So I'm now in the middle of M&B Warbands, Dishonored, X-com, Blops2 Multiplayer, and Dawn of War campaign.

I need about 3 weeks off work to have a chance at doing anything in there.

Anyway, how do i Increase my honor in M&B Warbands?

Was the 'shadow government' part referring to X-Com? I assume so since it is the only one you didn't touch.

Yup. Isn't it some kind of shadow group working behind the scenes? Or is it only meant to be a covert military unit?

Anyway I finished Episode 3 of The Walking Dead yesterday. Man, this episode broke my heart. There were some pretty fucked up things in this one but there was one death that came so suddenly, the felt so meaningless that it actually affected the rest of my playthrough. It was one of my favorite characters, I really clicked with this one, and then just like that this person is gone. I was pretty pissed off with certain characters and just disappointed in others after that incident.

The second episode was far more disturbing and horrible but this third one felt much more personal.

So this is going to make me sound a bit wussy, but when I first tried CALL Of DUTY BLACK OPS 2 I was thrown by the level of gore. Parts of the opening made me sick to my stomach...I put it down for a few days and when I finally got back into it and passed the initial levels and got into the main area I was faring much better....but jeezus this game is violent.

I suppose I should have expected that...but still.

Guy attacks me and I have to HACK HIS HEAD OFF WITH A MACHETE? Really? I can't just stab his ass, I have to take three ragged whacks at his neck to get him off me?

Ugh.

It's a good game and the gameplay is superb, futuristic weapons are stellar...but consider me wary of something so visceral. I'm not used to it.

Still nothing in the Call of Duty series has beaten the No Russian level in MW2 for me. That made me sick to my stomach.

Yup, that part got me too. And I agree about it being the character that I'd felt I was clicking with.


I played most of the series as the calm mediator type, but my response to that situation was the cold, angry one.

played a lot of Darksiders this break, and then immidiately dug into Darksiders II (thank you, Steam sale), and played a decent chunk of it before I had to go back to Uni.

I really like this series. It goes a long way to scratch an actin/exploration adventure itch that's been festering ever since the Legacy of Kain series.

So I finally finished ASSASSIN'S CREED 3.

Final thoughts: I thought it was good, not great...though the combat system was still pretty fucked up (with getting through anyone's guard happening mostly by fluke, which was fucking annoying), and you only get through half the assassinate list...and even then the assassinating is done in cinematics mostly (AKA, I didn't REALLY get to assassinate Charles Lee, I just got to watch Connor do it...same with Haytham), and I truly expected more "stealth" levels. The last one on the boat was a nice stealth level...but the game had FAR too few for my liking...oh and what the fuck is up with so many rooftops being occupied by guards in the cities? That's supposed to be my territory, but I found more often than not I was being shouted at in Scottish the moment I started to climb at any given point...that was aggravating. And while we are on the subject, there are simply too many big fights with more than 8-10 guys coming at me at once...this isn't BRAWLERS CREED...it's ASSASSINS CREED. For a game about a secret cabal of assassins, there's not really much of it going on.

The Desmond intervening levels were...mostly vapid busy work. So that was annoying too. I get that it was part of the story too, but come on!

Oh and the ending. That was it? REALLY?! After 5 years+ THAT is how it ended? Weak. Like SUPER weak.

Best feature of the game was defo the naval ship battles. The game was worth the price of admission for the Battle Of The Chesapeake Bay ALONE. SO fun!

Oh and now I'm further into BLACK OPS 2...but realize the game should be called SCOTT DIES EVERY FEW MINUTES 2.

Oh and started HALO 4...VERY solid fun so far!

Still havnt got back to my hitman absolution playthrough after completing halo 4 and havnt even touched resident evil 6. This is because of my skyrim replay and the fact ive got this misses into skyrim. Its still fresh despite me putting around 250 hours into it.

However certain things are annoying me a damn site more in this playthrough.

She doesnt claim to be the best blacksmith in whiterun, eorlund greymanes got that honour all shes asking for is a fair chance, incase you didnt know...

So, on to Crusader Kins II again... FUCK GOLDEN HORDE. Seriously.

So yeah. I hear empires should become rather unstable at some point. But so far, as you can see the Ilkhanate and Golden Horde have been expanding more than in any other game I've played before, and worse, they've not had a SINGLE rebelling vassal yet, as far as 1299. What the hell? Has the inclusion of factionalism made them that much more unstoppable? I really have nothing to defend myself with from them. It's sick.

OK so now I hold the kingdoms of Poland, Denmark, Ruthenia (no vassals), Sweden, Greece (no vassals), Lithuania and Norway, and I have a claim on Hungary ready to gobble them up, but I honestly can't be arsed with another kingdom to manage vassals of. It's a full-time job by now, and I'm trying to marry off my bountiful brood in such a way as to not hurt my prestige much, but also not get into sticky alliances or in marriages with retards... gah. And why would my vassals keep wanting independence? I'm the perfect ruler! :)

In any case, there's one small detail that makes me rather irritated:

trying to get my family into the good traits I keep making them italian or mongol now since these guys in my court have insane stats on them for tutoring.
Also, my current king is scottish. Makes my special building for pikemen. WTF. I wonder how far down the line do I have to fish to make an heir north-germanic for that empire title... grrr

OK so how can the AI ever fuck up as Byzantine Empire? I mean, come on! Horse Archer / Heavy Cavalry retinues and special buildings, special CBs, imperial reorganization, it's madness!

Games I have been playing.

Fable 2 and 3 - Considering that amount of fanfare and the amount of hype and subsequent complaining that surrounds them, I am shocked to discover that these games are just that, videogames. Your average run of the mill, some what mediochre adventure games with poorly implemented good/bad karma systems, great humor but incredibly shitty stories. From the talk surrounding Molyneux's "promises" I don't know what I was expecting but certainly something far more experimental and different than what I got.

I will say though Fable 2 managed to make me laugh long and hard several times and for that alone the game was worth buying the voice work and dialogue in this game is at times absolutely amazing. EDIT: Skip to 1.20 for my favorite moment in the game:



On the other hand, I don't understand why people love Fable 2 more than Fable 3. Playing them back to back, with the exception of having less humor and "whimsical'ness" about it, Fable 3 is a much, much better game than Fable 2. It's bigger, prettier, more refined, better controls, better UI, better quests and it has more of everything. I honestly don't understand what all the fuss is about... well, with the exception of the amazingly shitty story itself of course.

Gears of War 2 and 3 - Again, I don't know why but considering how much attention this series has received, how every modern 3rd person shooters is said to emulate the Gears of War series, I really have to say... they're not THAT great. Oh, don't get me wrong, Gears of War 3 is a really good 3rd person shooter, 2 not so much, but I guess I was just expecting more than chainsawing humanoid monsters and listening to horrendous banter between the utterly generic squad members. Actually, what really got to me was Marcus Phoenix. What an utterly unlikeable guy this is. There isn't really anything to the character other than growling and mopping around because his daddy left him.

Then again, who can criticize a game that allows you to control the locust equivalent of the T-rex from Dinoriders?

Killzone 2 - An okay, average, generic FPS with a forgettable story and unlikable characters (Fuck Rico). Considering this game was supposed to be Sony's Halo killer I have to say... it's not a terribly ambitious game in any stretch of the imagination. You'd have thought they would have gived this game some more "umph". Still, you point at things and they die good.

Bit trip runner - I am not really into rhythm games but this game somehow managed to captivate me. There is something really fascinating about playing a level over and over again, becoming more and more adapt with each failure as the layout, pattern, button presses sink into your sub-conscious and the muscle memory develops and soon you find yourself navigating through the obstacles with out even really thinking about what you're doing. You're just reacting. I think I am going to buy the new game when it comes out soon.

Metal Gear Solid 3: Snakeeater - God damn this game was awesome (especially considering it's 8-9 years old). I played MGS 2 like half a year ago after promising to finally get around to playing through the series. Didn't particularly like the game. It wasn't bad but the protagonist (Jack/Raiden) was not much fun and the story was fucking odd. Cool, convuluted, very cinematic but odd.

Snakeeater on the other hand is just fucking fantastic. Amazing, innovative gameplay mechanics and a story that is both typically crazy metal gear nonsense but also something very personal, very deep in a kind of spiritual and philosophical kind of way. I haven't bothered attempting to play the game like I am supposed to, sneaking around and hiding and using stealth. Instead I've just set the game on easy and run around blowing people off their feet with the sweet, sweet shotgun.

I know I should be disgusted by the terrible (Sexist? Misogynistic? Racist?) characters, overly dramatic dialogue and hammy acting, the complete mind fuck of a story and endless cutscenes, but I simply love this game series so much.

Which leads me to what I currently playing, MGS 4: Guns of the Patriots. MGS4 must be what Kojima always wanted to make, a Summer Blockbuster Videogame. Or is it some kind of interactive mini-series? I don't know really, what I do know is that this game is more cutscene than gameplay and for some reason I am absolutely fine with that because everything is just so fucking beautifully weaved together into this giant tapestry of what the fuck and omg did that guy just cut a robot in half and oh shit explosions!?! Last night I finished Act 3 (of 5) and thought, yeah, I'll just watch this ending cutscene before going to bed. Well, that ending cutscene was 40 fucking minutes long and it was great. Then I watched the mission briefing for Act 4 afterwards and that was 25 minutes long. That's 65 minutes of me doing nothing but watching scripted story and occasionally clicking the x button to get an indecipherable flashback. Holy fucking shit what were they thinking?

I wonder how much this game cost to make? I suspect there's over 10 hours of cutscenes in the game. And the game, despite being 4-5 years old looks better than many games now a days. And there's all kinds of extra material in there. Did this game cost 200 million dollars or something?!

Anyway, MGS 4 is amazing and a big fan pleaser for sure. I am going to consume Peacewalker next and then I will probably be forced to buy both Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance and MGS 5: Grounds Zeroes/Phantom Pain when they come out because god damn these games are amazing.
