The various ghosts and spectres are similar. However don't get cocky. Some of them will fuck you up.

If it's anything like the first fight, Quen for shield, then Yrden to trap the ghost, and heavy attacks when it's stunned. Shouldn't be too bad. Hopefully.

Ok, Witcher is actively annoying me now. Controls are bugged to fuck. In a fight, press to roll from an enemy, and what does Gerald do? Takes a leisurely lad saunter up a nearby hill. And whilst he's sauntering he won't respond to any controls. I've had other instances of stupid shit like this happen as well...

Frankly, a duff control scheme like this is enough to make me consider dropping it altogether.

I hope the controls didn't stop you. Witcher's quests are an adventure that is quite rewarding.

Anyway, I've been neglecting Divinity:OS since I last posted, because The Division had a big update. I was really craving some good old shoot people in the face gameplay, so I started a new character and started over. It's kind of hard to get a group for the instanced story missions now, because the game world is apparently divided into world tiers now, but besides that it's still great fun. I remain impressed with how "real" the Manhattan they built for the game feels. The environmental detail is fascinating. I hope they eventually make a second game that expands upon the green poisons spread across the US or the rest of the world.

I did go back and played a few hours of Divinity:OS today. I was about to start the investigation of the murder I was sent to solve and then suddenly I'm thrown into some kind of cosmic "The World Is Ending" kind of stuff and I realized the scope of the game is about the get grand.

I greatly enjoy this games writing. This is a Fantasy RPG for Fantasy readers. There's a lot of dialogue, a lot of world building and the characters and lore seems very deep. I can't wait to see where the game goes.

I've persevered somewhat. Turned the duff controls off and am presently dossing around Novigrad trying to find Dandelion.

One thing that's kept me playing is the dialogue. It's beyond A tier. There's not been one instance where I've disbelieved what was happening, how characters were reacting, here m'boy, Odrin, Odrin.

Good dialogue in games is so very rare. The Witcher 3 is an amazing game.

I'll second and third the sentiments about the dialog in Witcher III. It is some of the best ever.

About the controls. There are settings to try but even with tweaking those the fighting at times can be somewhat buggy, particularly in tight places (like caves). It's something I found easy to overlook because the game overall is amazing.

On the subject of caves, found myself against a boss at random (Fatuus) on a quest. Sweet jesus that thing hit like a truck. The boss actually bugged out though - if I stood far enough away he just ran in a figure-8 and I could snipe him to death with the crossbow.

I finally got around to playing Uncharted: The Lost Legacy over the last couple of days. So many 'wow' moments in that game - spectacular stuff, with a truly breathtaking finale. It's made me want to go back a replay all the others. It may just edge out HZD and Divinity Original Sin 2 as my favourite game released this year.

Also finally played the Left Behind DLC for The Last of Us. It slots so neatly into the main storyline. Beautifully done.

Started Dishonored. Still messing about with the first "mission" area, doing side-stuff and collecting Runes.

Already put 2 upgrades into Blink, now I just need to make sure to get the "reduce fall damage" upgrade, since my strategy is pretty much "go up as high as you can"

Question: should I be worrying about killing in "hostile areas" like the Distillery? I've basically mostly avoided killings so far (only the 3 thugs that were bothering Granny)

What do you mean by worried?

There's the chaos system of course. Killing will shift the game world and ending towards a more violent, plague ridden future (not really that bad since everything is already shit).

In terms of gameplay, the guards just become on edge for a while if they see a corpse but and they return to normal eventually.

pro-tip: Use the heart on various NPC's to learn things about them. It adds flavor to the story.

Also if you're like me, just kill them all. The people in the dishonored games are deserve no less.

Yes, that's the one :unworthy:

I finished replaying Uncharted: Drake's Fortune last night. Still great fun, although unsurprisingly a bit clunky. On to Among Thieves . . .

I've fallen into the Deus Ex thinking trap of "stealth everything!" so I'm kinda trying to keep the rats numbers down for my first playthrough. I'm sure I'll end up replaying as a cold-blooded murder machine, too.

So far, I'm using the heart everywhere until it starts looping dialogue, but it's not keen on telling be about characters- only about locations.

Mind, I'm still mucking about in front of the overseer's compound, so not like I'm far into the game...

Got SW: BFII for xmas....and I'm LOVING it!

I could play PVP Heroes VS Villains mode for HOURS AND HOURS!

But even the main story mode is flat out excellent.

So far this game is amazing and fixed all the stuff I disliked about the first game.

And the fact that they fixed all the loot boxes now, and opening up heroes and such is much quicker (I got Vader open in about an hour of play)...bonus.

Made a fair bit of progress on Witcher 3. I've moved on from Novigrad to Skellige. Kind of feel like I messed up on the Woodland Spirit quest though (I killed it).

Glad you're enjoying it, but sad that you bought it. The more people that do that the more likely they are to repeat their bullshit in the future. They only fixed it because they were worried about sales, and the only way make the message stick on their mind is to make sure those sales stay down. Letting them off the hook because they "fixed" it just means they won't learn. :p

Extra sad because it's the only major Star Wars game out and TLJ made me crave some SW gaming. (Still waiting for a Jedi Academy 2... Damn that game was awesome.)

I think you mean waiting for KOTOR3.

Actually I hope Disney moves to the KOTOR timeline as action flicks. They really dont need to stay in the current time...

I got it as a gift. I didn't ask for it. I'm not about to tell my wife "You shouldn't have bought me this generous Christmas present" and then spout off against EA to her. It is what it is.
