Gave up on Metal Gear Solid. I want to play the game, not listen Ocelot on tape. Plus, it was just too damn weird and disjointed. I moved on to Batman: Arkham Knight.

I just waited for them to come close and then shotgunned them.

The young lad. I didn't know if it would make much of a difference but he has since reappeared. I'm currently in a massive building in London attempting to steal some helicopter type things. Despite not being a huge fan of FPS games, I must admit this game is a lot of fun. There was a hot steamy scene with Anya on the train, killer robot dogs and even a dream sequence where you end up playing the old version of Castle Wolfenstein!
Lots of fun!

Finished Wolfenstein The New Order. Thoroughly enjoyable game, took me far too long to work out how to beat the final boss but I got there in the end.

AC Syndicate.
I'm itching to play Horizon dlc but there's something about the London set up that is drawing me in. Esp now I have a train base, hookshot and an top hat.
The characters are still irritating (what siblings continue to talk to each other using their full names every single time?)
But walking through the streets and alleys, crossing bridges, and using the hookshot to escape like Victorian Batman are kind of fun.

I've had one chase that went across a few boats.
Last night I burned down a factory, hunted down Springheel Jack, and walked a guy right out of his own factory unopposed as I'd stealth killed all his goons beforehand. The moving train base is a great idea. I'm having quite a lot of fun with all these little quests; London really feels alive and the Springheel Jack quest in the misty night was suitably creepy.

I finished Assassin's Creed: Origins.
I thoroughly completed that game. I chased down every question mark on the map. I unlocked every "tower". I found every landmark. I did every side mission but a few surrounding the last Roman colony.
I really enjoyed this game and yet, like always when playing an AC game, I was left unsatisfied and disappointed by the story and the over arching narrative. The story was okay but a mess. They tried to explain the origins of the Assassin Order but completely forgot to tie it in to the origins of the first humans and the pre-human gods. They toyed with the artefacts we've seen before but yet again failed to sell these pieces of eden's nature and importance.
I think the game did a solid attempt at emulating Witcher 3's open world gameplay and story but it often felt shallow. There were peculiar stories. Old friendships and rivalries. Games and funny moments. All very reminiscent of the antics Geralt would get into. But without the RPG dialogue conversation system, the stories remain static. The poor writing and stilted character animations made the NPC encounters feel like puppet shows, rather than living breathing stories.
I think if they continue down this path the games could become amazing but Ubisoft needs to implement more development time I think,

I find the whole main AC story arc extremely tedious. These games would be so much better as stand alone set pieces without the almost forced inclusion of 'pieces of eden' and the rest. I can see what they tried to do, and it makes sense from a franchise point of view, but games like Black Flag and now Syndicate would be just glorious if they removed the AC animus/mythos and added in some more rpg style elements.
They've cut it back, admittedly, but in Syndicate, just as I'm getting into the era and the historic detail, they throw in a piece of eden mission and it just seems like a pointless reminder that this is an ac game.

I think Black Flag and Syndicate are partly my favourites because they have less around the whole modern bit. I just wanna run around killing people and jumping off stuff etc. Never really cared about the first civilization bit.
I can't remember which one but there's one where you spend ages in a cave in the modern bit and you have some really tedious bits where you (as Desmond) have to climb around looking for things. Didn't ever care about that bit...

I've been playing Orgins and have found the modern day Abstergo tie in not really a thing at all. That may change because I'm still playing but so far you only go back out of the Animus if you choose to. And there you can get a data dump (emails, recordings etc) and not much else, I've found, thus far.
Hey Apt. Did you solve the Great Sphinx part? I found it, with the map of where the rocks are that are used to match the correct star constellation in the night sky. But since I haven't done all of them yet, I'm guessing that is why I can't get any further in the Great Sphinx.
The question marks can really cause fatigue when you discover it's yet another kill the captain/lieutenant and loot the treasure. There's so many of those rinse and repeat activities and the pay off almost always sucks. It's usually just a version of weapon or armor you already have, but at your current level.

See, I actually strongly diagree with this. The modern conspiracy and sci-fi hulla balloo is actually the most potent part of the series. The problem is that the creative minds behind the series left after AC2 and it's just been floundering ever since.
It's not the concept that is bad. It's just the bad writing and planning that permeates the entire series.

Yeah, the abstergo stuff in this game is neigh non-existant. Which makes you wonder why they even bother. But there was potential there. Now any human can access any other human's DNA memory. The problem I have with that concept is that it doesn't fit with they idea of the Assassin's being "special". They have a third eye and increased human agility. Normal human beings shouldn't be able to do what they do... should they?

I actually really liked this. It's pointless filler. But it's pure video game content. Just turn off your brain, put on a podcast, and plow your way down the map murdering people and animals. Meaningless but fun.

Witcher 3 is fun so far. Just got to Vizima, returning to White Orchard so I can explore fully and find some more quests, level up a bit.
My main issues with it are that the controls can be a bit gimpy (let me turn around on the spot, Gerald of Riveting!) and the camera has a tendency to devolve into Resident Evil 1 worship at times, but overall it's solid.

Did you turn on that new movement option they patched in? It made moving, walking, running much less crazy.
Also, do the actual story missions, they will get you much more xp than killing bandits or wolves. However you should also be aware that the game has a sort of MMO like XP system. So as soon as you get 5 or so levels above the recommended level, the quest turns grey and you will get no or next to no xp for doing them (other than the satisfaction of course).
On the PC I fixed that by modding the xp system to ignore levels.

Hell no, not just any person should be able to access anyone's DNA memory. As I understood it, the people at Abstergo who would go into the animus and see the assassin's experiences came from that bloodline/were related. I don't like that anyone can do that now. I know it was revealed that Assassin's Creed universe is same as Watchdogs. I wonder if this is how they are going to make a connection between the two eventually. Also, with the the Assassin's Creed titles and the Abstergo part, isn't there a long play in place that is ongoing. And eventually they are supposed to bring that to a conclusion?

If you check the modern day characters laptop, you'll see that she has camera footage of Aiden Pierce executing an Abstergo employee on a street. In Watchdogs 2, your character helps free Aiden from a group that I believe is Blume related (which of course is owned by Abstergo).
Farcry also takes place in the Assassin's Creed Universe.
As for the plot I read a summary a while ago. Right now there's some kind of ancestor program going on. Juno is loose in the worlds computer networks and I think she's working with the Sage people, you know that whole "Let the father of understanding guide you" thing. And I think the Templars don't like that... or something.

It's just another machine. More cryptic non-sense. They did drop one fascinating piece of info that plays into a gameplay mechanic I have been dreaming off since the beginning:
Spoiler
In other news, I've been playing Wasteland 2 and Divinity: Original Sin 1.
I started out playing a bit of Wasteland 2. It's a pretty rough experience, you can tell it was made on a small budget. The writing is very solid but the UI and a lot of the visuals look like arse. I was sort of digging it but then I bought Divinity: OS and I dropped Wasteland for a better, hotter video game.
D:OS1 makes Wasteland 2 look and feel inferior in every way. I'm really impressed with the game so far. I'm impressed with just how many choices and how detail is injected into every encounter and environment. It really feels like a deep, well crafted RPG in the truest sense.
