Beat "New Carthage" . Scenario, though the rush in the end still devolved into an unholy mess.

now I got 2 scenarios featuring Hannibal - first parts of what's supposed to be a 5-part campaign.

Another annoyance with AoK HD- when you load a save of a custom campaign mission, upon completion you're booted back to main menu. So, if you're playing 3rd scenario in a 5-scen campaign, and you save and quit, when you reload and finish, your progress doesn't register. Then you have to restart scen 3 and use a cheat to progress.

Given AoK's staying power is due largely to the potential of its scenario/campaign editor, and it's designer scene, it boggles the mind that the devs of AoK HD (themselves former modders) are hamstringing the game this way.

Haha I love finding this sort of thing. (The actual fencing is weird - it sits diagonally across the squares so it doesn't form a continuous line)

Near the end of third chapter now. I have minecarts and cannons..
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

Dishonored 2 is still great. I'm on mission five, and there's just such a satisfaction tied to choking out a guard and hiding his unconscoius body without being discovered. Slowly, methodically, Corvo knocks out every guard and stack them all in a pile in the pantry. I feel invincible and terrifying, and I imagine the stories that will be told by the guards years after they awoke in that pile. A single severed head resting at the top, soaking them all in blood.

I've got the "turn dead bodies to ash" ability, so I just leave behind ghost towns. Legends will be told of entire platoons of guards disappearing. Gangs of criminals disappearing over night. This is how Alien Abduction myths start.

I've begun playing South Park: Stick of Truth again, because it's funny as hell.
Screw you all, and have a nice day!

Plodding slooowly thru custom content for AoK HD.

Had to restart the first Hannibal scen about a dozen times. It's not difficult- I was being impatient, and sending my hero unit (light cavalry Hannibal) as a "lure" too many times- so either an arrow barrage or a mob of halberdiers tended to kill him, leading to a game over. Basically, I lacked patience.

Scen 2 is only 3rd restart. The premise is cool-try crossing the Alps, handling hostile mountain tribes. The difficulty spike comes from severely limited food- there's a few lakes of fish, but no farming, and no hunting. TC can produce cows or sheep that can be converted to food- but they cost a little food to make!

Basically, getting an economy running is tricky. Once I can advance to Castle though, things get better, b/c cav archers cost no food.

My current play is going well, I befriended the biggest tribe by wiping out a smaller tribe's castle (no murder holes tech, so I just rushed them with a bunch of elephants- did I mention you occasionally spawn "reinforcement" elephants as long as the hero unit is alive?) and levelled it. Now only 2 tribes to go.

Overall, so far really good job, hope the next few scens once release are equally good.

ok, wrapped up "The Longest Journey". Enjoyed the ending and solved the entirety of the last 2 acts without a guide!

Not gonna jump into "Dreamfall" just yet. Debating between Ark Fatalis + then the rest of Arkane's games including Dishonored, OR Bioshock Infinite.

Of course, what this means is that I'm probably gonna start playing an RTS. Or an action-adventure.

I really enjoyed the Longest Journey - played it a few months back for the first time. But also the last third of the game is definitely rushed and things are either missing or were cut (think how many steps it takes to get the first couple of items, and then it rushes through the final ones; relationships with some friends also just get completely dropped after being built up as side-stories for the first half of the game). Still thought it was great, though.

Played Arx Fatalis some years back on the original Xbox - good game, but another one, like Longest Journey, which felt as if parts were cut due to time/budget constraints. Really interesting concept, though.

If I find the time an motivation/concentration over the holidays to read the manual for it, i'll probably get back to Arx. Otherwise, I might move on to more modern first person "shooter with powers".

Right there with you, I was blown away by it. I was expecting it to be fairly mediocre, as a lot of cross-over games tend to be.

I shouldn't have been surprised though, because I had a ball as a kid playing South Park on the N64. Will have to make a mental note to replay Stick of Truth before Fractured But Whole comes out early next year.

Finished Dishonored with both the Daud DLCs

Spoiler

I doubt I can run Dishonored 2 on my PC but my dad's bought xbox one for Christmas so now I'm deciding between getting Witcher 3 GotY and Dishonored 2 for Christmas

I didn't even know they were making another South Park game, I enjoyed Stick of Truth but can't say I was blown away by it. "Fractured but whole" that name's just genius

Arkham knight looks incredible (I'm running normal textures and enhanced rain with my new piece of shiny hardware)

But, oh my God, the freaking Batmobile. I hate it so much.

Also, i can't bind grapple to Alt, which is causing all kinds of discomfort.

Still, looks damn stunning.

I hated the batmobile in the start as well but I got the hang of it in the end.

My advise would be to not use the boost in normal driving or pursuit mode, since the handling becomes impossible. Use it in small boost if you're chasing a car but otherwise try to rely on cornering.

In combat mode try to pick a good place to fight, and don't move a lot besides to use cover. Use the boost to doge or strafe here a lot. Try to move the tank in small increments instead of the crosshair to line up shots.

Will try. I'm alternating between that and AoK HD, still.

Speaking of which, playing an absolutely phenomenal custom campaign scenario- The Conquest of Germany.

Basically, Romans (Italian Civ) taking on a lot of Teutons, Celts, Vikings and Goths in an ahistorical (in that it's supposed to succeed) attempt to pacify Germania.

The map size is the new "LUDCRIS", meaning it's freaking HUGE.

I spent good 5-6 hours on it today, and I've only beat 2 of the German tribes. Thankfully, they attack you in succession, so I'm able to keep up.The first tribe (Vesken, celts) actually submitted and turned ally once I wiped out their TCs,

Second tribe (Chatti, Teutons) was a HUGE attrition battle, as their territory was sprawling big. Rewriting all history books, I'm wiping the floor with enemy's infantry using massive mobile strike groups of cavalry archers. They scan the way, wipe out infantry and villagers, then along come my capped rams to turn TCs, towers and castles to rubble. While my Monks convert enemy military buildings, so I have a steady stream of reinforcements. on the spot. Having done that, I now discovered the Limes , which are being assaulted from time to time by other tribes (I'm building a bunch of castles around the perimeter to fortify. I'm building a lot of castles, period. I think I'm into double-digits by now).

Meanwhile, I have the Marcomanni (another Celts, 5 casles) to deal with on the flank. Thankfully, they're behind a river with a single bridge I just finished securing.

SO far, clearly best one of all the custom content. 2 other campaigns I played bugged out, as I reach a point where no further objectives trigger- in case of Hannibal, once I wipe out all enemies, I still don't get a victory trigger. Annoying, but them's the breaks with user-made stuff.
The same person who made the "Conquest of Germany" scen also made a "Barbarian Invasions" campaign. Played 2 missions so far, decently fun as well. First scen is difficult, as you take on the entire Roman empire who owns the entire map shaped like Western Europe. You have to raise a border TC, and then you get the objective to steal one of the 5 relics.Oh, and Romans (Teutons) are imperial, while you and your ally (both Goths) are stuck in Castle age.

Second scen has you playing as the Huns, displacing the Goths. Annoying, b/c you don't get access to Tarkans, so you have to do mass knights + Cavarchers. However, once I killed one of the Gothic kings, I found a way around the second one's base and managed to come up form behind and just kill the second king, getting the win.

The level design in Dishonored 2 is spectacular! The Clockwork mansion, the time travel maze, it's all so very well done. I'm at what might be the last mission, and am really curious as to what the finale will bring me.

Gonna have to give up on conquering Germania.

Everything went real smooth: I triumphantly smashed the Marcomanni, wiping out their sprawling territory and confining them to their tiny walled enclosure with their last 5th castle. After an epic struggle, as I built a castle at every entrance, demolished the main gate and used my trebuchets to gradually reduce their unit-producing capacity to nothing, finally destroying their last castle and killing their king. This led to a whole bunch of Woad Raiders (celts' unique unit) and cavaliers spawning and attacking their former camp in a neat line, leading to a valiant, but pointless charge which my own cavaliers and cavarchers eventually dealt with.

So then only 2 enemies left- the Goths and the Vandals in the far East of the map.

So I go to click the trigger "ready for final battle". And I get a new objective, to kill, I kid you not, 35 THOUSAND barbarians among the goths and the Vandals.

To assis me in this, the game starts spawning "reinforcements". Namely 130 Centurion cavalry (very heavily armored), as well as a metric fuckton of Legionnaires. I was at my population cap of 200. An hour (!) later when the spawning stopped, my pop counter read 3080/200.

Given the most units you can select at once is roughly 62 you can imagine how difficult managing this horde became. Factor in the lag, and the less than stellar pathfinding (loads of bridges and narrow gates), and getting this army across the map to the limes became a logistical nightmare.

Once they did get there, I decided to forego tactics, throwing more and more Legionnaires at whatever barbarian-shaped problems until things died.

By the time I was done, I was up to 6k kills overall (including all the previous conquests), and I lost about a third of the legions.

Both Goths and Vandals were proclaimed defeated/resigned. Reinforcements started spawning AGAIN. And no victory in sight, because I killed barely a 10th (if that many) of the barbarian "quota"

Maybe i'll go back to it one day, but waiting for 35k would take waay too much patience (maybe this'd actually work on Hard... )

Finished Dishonored 2 last night. Despite playing High Chaos I got a surprisingly upbeat or at least neutral ending. Maybe it was because I chose the "neutralize" instead of kill option for every "boss" character. Anyway really loved the game. I actually think it got better the more I played which is a plus.

Played a bit of Assemblance earlier. That game is fucked up. I'd heard something about it in a podcast months ago and heard it was a crazy mind puzzle experience thingy. That game is a horror game and I noped right the fuck out of it after an hour. I think I am going to watch a lets play of it later but there ain't no way I am going to continue playing a creepy walking around and spooky shit happens simulator, no matter how curious I am.

Think I am going to either play some Adrift or Shadow Complex Remastered later.
