They arrested people in Soho for dressing as Zombies, for 'breaching the peace'. Don't tell Loki, she might not like that...

Breaching the peace? You have goddamn jets flying over the bloody city and roads closed off but somehow dressing like a zombie is worse for upsetting the peace????

This calls for action - now to rally the troops! Might take sometime given the usual walking speed is 1km every 2 hours...........
Honestly, they may have mostly been criminals but they obviously sent the smarter bloodlines to Australia

I haven't seen anything regarding the wedding yet beyond this thread - I may be a firm supporter of a democratic monarchy but I really don't give a damn what the royals do as long as it isn't going to screw up anything over here.
ZOMBIES???? That's funny, not illegal you stupid gun-less fuzzy things with your silly hats and tv show!!!
...........Honestly!

Well I stand in a posistion of general indifference when it comes to the Royals. I couldn't really care either way. Though I'm pretty sure a LOT of money was made in London this weekend due to that wedding. Pretty sure it'll stay in London too though.
I watched it, best part of it anyway, and was impressed mostly with the formal and traditional bells and whistles that seemed to define the day. These are the staples for any Royal/State affairs in this country. It's these aspects that draw my attention, not, the who's who.
As far as the whole 'patriotism' argument goes, well, I'm from Newcastle. Sometimes I dont feel any connection to 'England' at all.
It's like a different world up North. A better world!!

The further North you go the better it gets
.
I just generally ingnored the whole thing, although trying to actually ignore it proved a challenge amidst all the coverage - when you can't even recede to the safety of Radio nan Gaidheal there is something wrong, even there amidst the words that I actually knew (which were few and far between) I managed to catch repeated mentions of the occasion. Thankfully the weather was great so we spend most of the day at the beach and outside of media coverage there was never going to be a big deal made out of it in South Uist.
I am actually an anti-monarchist pretty much for similar reasons to Stone Monkey.

I was 99% indifferent. This has no bearing upon me or my future. The 1% was the part where I saw Kate Middleton's sister.
I respect Elizabeth Saxe-Coburg-Gotha-Windsor as an individual. I kinda like Harry for being a "cheeky fellow", even if we all know technically he isn't a member of the aristocracy ...
The rest, I'm indifferent. Like with most people.
I agree with SM about the notion of royalty/nobility by birth. Why should you be treated better than anyone else and be my head of state when for starters you aren't from here, don't live here and only had the sheer good fortune to pop out of the "right" set of legs with (supposedly) the "right" father?
As for the ceremony ... I'll be in my bunk.

I'm a bit of a contradiction when it comes to the royals. I have the same feelings as Stone Monkey towards inherited nobility and nobility in general, however I freakin love watching them. I think I enjoy being outraged by their wealth and privilage and am always looking for a crack in the facade of faux humility to show. Plus gawping at rich people is much more interesting than gawping at poor people. Camilla is my favourite, she looks like such a jolly hockeysticks kind of woman. Put her in a dress and she always seems slightly uncomfortable and is always a tiny step behind in protocol. My favourite bit of the wedding was where it looked like the Queen was staring down the Middleton's while they had to stand right opposite her and sing God Save The Queen. You could tell she was thinking "Filthy new money, they'll be the downfall of us"

I'd renounce it all, Edward VII style. Being publicly shunned by the Royal Family generally earns you titles (barring "His/Her Royal Highness"), plenty of land, cash and celebrity status. Worst case scenario is free accomodation from your landed gentry friends or nobility in other countries and ZERO obligations to anyone. I would renounce it all in a heartbeat!!! The real question is why any of them carry on in their public roles! The filthy rich bastards must be brainwashed from birth due to the whole leader of the Church of England, chosen by God milarky. I can't think of a life more dull than opening ceremonies, the smell of fresh paint, kissing horrid children and hugging sick people. I suppose the dirty money, luxurious living, private estates, servants, fleets of cars and grovelling sycophants makes up for it just a little bit.....

Watching the Queen's reactions during and after the wedding was somewhat amusing. I particularly liked her halting shuffle along the balcony as children kept standing in front of her, "Bothersome little creatures dare to block me?"
And so the First denied their Mother,
in their fury, and so were cast out,

people, people... don't belive everything you read... that's just the cover story for the unintended necromantic consequences of the Royal Family bloodbonding ritual. If you're gonna supercharge a lich, you have to be prepared to raise a few zombies...

I have actually thought about this, and I think I would. I'd like to think I'm self aware enough to see the trappings and implications of royalty for what they are.
Of course, that said; if you're brought up with that immense sense of entitlement, and I can imagine that all the royals have been and do believe that they're somehow superior to the rest of us unwashed proles, and if you have millions of sycophants (and others) all over the world constantly reinforcing that inflated opinion you hold of yourself, I can imagine that the thought wouldn't even cross your mind unless circumstances forced it to.
If an opinion contrary to your own makes you angry, that is a sign that you are subconsciously aware of having no good reason for thinking as you do. If some one maintains that two and two are five, or that Iceland is on the equator, you feel pity rather than anger, unless you know so little of arithmetic or geography that his opinion shakes your own contrary conviction. … So whenever you find yourself getting angry about a difference of opinion, be on your guard; you will probably find, on examination, that your belief is going beyond what the evidence warrants. Or one could try to do something midly useful with it all. Say what one will good or bad about Diana, she did do some good on the anti-landmines cause.
I don't expect royals to pitch it all and live in mediocrity with the rest of the proletariat, but seeing as how they need not fear revolution, uprisings, foreign invasion, poisoning, assassination and/or the plague, they really, really have zero excuse for not doing a fuck of a lot to make the planet, or at least Britain, a better place.
I have faith that at least Harry will do his part by raising the self-image of the many many barmaids around the world who feel un-special.
On a Canadian note, our Govenor General position is a waste of money.
