I'm a little curious as to what Tattersail is after here... a little overly confused?

D, on 11 April 2011 - 06:58 AM, said:

Does my ability to increase Moral happen automatically every day?

I am also good at endurance challenges at the moment?

Do I also have the ability to link with someone else like you say in the rules or is this only for a certain type of player?

Are there any hidden abilities I may have that I haven't covered?

Path-Shaper, on 11 April 2011 - 07:02 AM, said:

1) Your ability is activated. You can use it every day but it doesn't happen automatically.
2) I don't know what you mean by "good" at the challenge, but you have a +1 bonus to all Endurance rolls, so you're better than average.
3) The rules clearly state that every player has access to the listed abilities, so yes, you can use Forge alliance as listed.
4) If you had hidden abilities, why would I tell you them?

D, on 11 April 2011 - 07:23 AM, said:

Just trying to cover all bases :D

Can I set provisional to use ability to increase morale everyday?

Path-Shaper, on 11 April 2011 - 07:26 AM, said:

Nope. You have to play the game, no free actions.

DKT's in the game and goes with Deceiver! He is a fan of misinformation, although I wonder if he can handle a role that requires subterfuge. He's a pretty loose cannon at times.

I Choose <Deceiver>

Anomandaris, on 11 April 2011 - 10:29 AM, said:

so...where to from here?

Path-Shaper, on 11 April 2011 - 03:00 PM, said:

Now we wait for everyone to get their roles in so we can start!

You have chosen the Deceiver

Level 1: Cloaked in Shadow - Few know much about the Deceiver... and that's just the way you like it. You may log in anonymously at any time. You may log on not anonymously, too. You may switch at will. You may not reveal this ability.
Psych! - Misinformation is your bread and butter. You pick a single other "role" in the game. You will be told the name of all Level 1 abilities for that role as well as their flavor text, but not the ability text. You may not reveal this ability, but you may reveal the "fake" known abilities.
Crafty - There are a lot of stupid people out there... - +1 Intelligence.

Any insight as to why you picked Deceiver?

Anomandaris, on 11 April 2011 - 03:19 PM, said:

Hmm..interesting

well... i dunno really...I suppose i thought it would be the most fun.
i do enjoy messing with people when playing mafia so i thought it might translate well in this game.

would have been nice to see the break down of all the roles before i chose tho :D

Vengey opens the posting and hopes that it has something to do with getting the idol... the only problem with that strategy is it would kill the people in different time zones!

Merrid, on 11 April 2011 - 03:58 PM, said:

How many opening posts do I need to sting together to get the immunity idol. :D

Path-Shaper, on 11 April 2011 - 04:00 PM, said:

Hmm I have that formula here some where....

{X(nc/fk)/(of/ki)}/{di*bs/sh*in}

ansible's going for a somewhat literal interpretation of trying to reach the shore... by describing himself reaching the shore, heh.

Kalse, on 11 April 2011 - 04:20 PM, said:

This Mafia game will be interesting because it isn't often that I've seen "active participation" events other than some sort of voting scheme (well, I haven't played too many games here but I haven't read anything like this before). So I was wondering how to play it on thread... right now I'm sort of going for almost a RP feel with how I'm describing things. I dunno how appropriate it is or how everyone else will get around describing themselves in the challenges, but oh well. =P We'll see how it goes..

Path-Shaper, on 11 April 2011 - 04:23 PM, said:

There will be a lot of differing approaches to playing out the game, I'm sure, both in terms of strategy and on-thread discussion of the game's current state.

I look forward to the interactions those different approaches will generate =)

Tattersail is leaving soon and wants to make sure to cook something yummy back at camp.

D, on 11 April 2011 - 04:23 PM, said:

Use Ability to cook raw boar for when we get to the island, this okay? I'm going to a poker tournament tonight in about an hour or so and it lasts until 1am, then sleepy time until tomorrow. I've been here all day waiting for the last of the people to log on, I hope this won't affect us in any way.

Path-Shaper, on 11 April 2011 - 04:25 PM, said:

You need to send me a separate PM, as indicated in the rules. Also, the action is called "Top Chef" not "Cook Boar." The boar cooking part is just flavor text, don't bother quoting that.

Subject: Action - <Action Name>
Body: Fill out why you chose to use this action.

Also, The Dude finally joins the game! I'm not all that surprised he chose Follower... that's a solid role for a guy who likes to last a long time like him.

No worries, you're here now!

Informant - Being a lackey isn't always easy, but at least the boss is usually willing to share information. - You are automatically informed of all roles and levels of your alliance mates, along with any updates.

Here's how the first Immunity Challenge will break down:

Individual Immunity Challenge
(Sx1=>E:20, I:15)

Each player will attempt to swim for shore. An initial Strength will occur to see how well each player manages to jump off of the boat and have an initial surge of strength. After the Strength check, everyone will need to roll continual Endurance checks to get to the shore. The combined roll total needed to reach shore is 20.

On shore, players will search for the Hidden Immunity Idol. It's not that hard to find, it's hanging on an abutment from a nearby log. Continual Intelligence rolls will be used until Idol is found. Once someone finds it, nobody else on that person's tribe may do so.

There are a lot of Survivalists in this game and reaching Shore quickly is a key component. Ideally, you want to reach the shore in two rolls. Liosan, our only Challenger, can get a good start with a big roll, which minimizes how much Endurance he needs to finish the swim. That said, we have several Deceivers, Leaders, and Geniuses who will excel on Land. But how fast will they get there?

Tattersail is the first to declare an action and it's an obvious one... raise Morale. We'll see a lot of people with outstanding Morale in this game, which will minimize the Leaders' abilities early on.

D, on 11 April 2011 - 04:44 PM, said:

I can use this ability every day, if I can increase the morale of my team then if we lose anyone or any task it would not affect us as much, plus if we win this can only be a good thing. It means we get to have a good feast on our first day. For the team!!!

Path-Shaper, on 11 April 2011 - 04:45 PM, said:

Noted, this will occur *after* the Individual Immunity Challenge.

Tattersail also is the first to respond to my inquiries to all players about their strategies for the game. It sounds like she's happy with her role thus far.

D, on 11 April 2011 - 04:48 PM, said:

I chose Survivalist because I thought it would be a role that hardly anyone else would pick. I wanted to give my team a better chance at winning challenges by being diverse. I also thought that it may come in handy, building tents / places to live, camp fires that sort of thing. We are in the wild and I want my team to survive.

If I am honest I do not have a planned strategy, I guess I will participate as much as I can, add to the discussion and stay with my current role to get it to the best it can be, if my first abilities increase morale then the next ones can be of great help too.

I guess then that my initial strategy would be to help my team as much as possible and see how it goes from there.

Path-Shaper, on 11 April 2011 - 04:52 PM, said:

So is your current strategy going to be to continue down the Survivalist path?

Quote

D, on 11 April 2011 - 04:55 PM, said:

Yes, I am happy with helping the team at this point, plus i'll have good endurance for later tasks, although I will falter if it requires a brain or some brawn

ansible's next and declares that he's going to play cautiously but make his first priority winning. You can't get voted off if you are immune! Very solid point. Being careful will be interesting to see if he can do simply because the Genius role requires being out there a bit. It is a role of information and requires someone somewhat pushy (the first level ability requires the genius to handle puzzle-type legs by himself for maximum benefit).

Kalse, on 11 April 2011 - 04:52 PM, said:

I plan to be as honest and straightforward as possible. Hopefully my role as a genius will lend some weight to my arguments. I will probably be slow to make or break alliances; my guess is that playing TOO cautious might get you voted off, but otherwise being careful is a good strategy for me. This will also benefit me, I hope, in case I need to break an alliance near the endgame... better it be a surprise than expected behavior. But first my goal is going to be, obviously, winning immunity for myself and my tribe. Because fuck Tribal Council, man. :D

I might end up picking up the Leader role somewhere down the line, depending on others' perception of me. I definitely want to make myself useful in the challenges because that is usually a sure way of either winning immunity or making your teammates depend on you. And that means a lot of participation...

Path-Shaper, on 11 April 2011 - 04:56 PM, said:

Why do you think Leader may be a role you want to pick up down the line? What perception from others do you think will make that an option?

Vengey wants to seduce someone... which is pretty funny. I considered some kind of love-aspect to the game but decided it wasn't worth the hassle for this experiment. Maybe in the future.

Merrid, on 11 April 2011 - 04:53 PM, said:

Well first thing first I am going to make myself invaluable to my team. If I feed them then they will be more likely to keep me around for longer. Before the merge I plan on seducing a hotty and banging her make her fall In love with me. Then I will conspire with her to get us both past the merg and into the final.

OR I shall do the first part and try to find good partners to team up with through the merge.

Path-Shaper, on 11 April 2011 - 04:57 PM, said:

What do you mean by a "Good Partner?" What are you looking for in a partnership?

ansibles continues his reasoning. I'm not sure I get it, entirely... it sounds like he's trying to pick his role based upon the current conditions in the tribe. This is not a terrible plan, but you have to make sure you also plan for the future. If you make a lot of knee-jerk decisions, you could find yourself in trouble later.

Kalse, on 11 April 2011 - 05:05 PM, said:

Partially I think it might end up being important to branch out in terms of skills/roles. If we have a solid core of a few players who can use their abilities well, then maybe I can specialize a little more. If Dureza keeps getting sent to Tribal Council, though, we might end up losing those few players instead. At the least, it will upset the balance on our tribe, and if I've shown myself to be a solid player up until that point, there might be an opportunity to move into the Leader role and make some decisions. However, if any suspicion falls on me (even through an ally), it might be harder to pick Leader and at that point I'm not sure what I'll do.

Vengeance admits he's a bit of a cad.

Merrid, on 11 April 2011 - 05:23 PM, said:

No usually they are truths. But it would just be better if so many people didn't believe them. :D

Okaros, on 11 April 2011 - 05:28 PM, said:

My srategy can perhaps best be described as one of"death aversion," by which I mean that I, as a survivalist, shall be utilizing all possible means to survive in this game of Survivor. :p

I'll also be taking orders from a boar's head that I have impaled upon a stick...

snake0026 just wants to 'survive' which explains his role choice. I think he's been reading a little too much Lord of the Flies, too.

Oh Piggy!

HiddenOne, our only Challenger, explains that he's trying to be strong early but is considering a branch out later. It will be interesting to see if he does that if his strength keeps his tribe winning challenge after challenge.

Liosan, on 11 April 2011 - 05:18 PM, said:

I'll try to be supportive of teammates, build myself up to be considered a valuable force, and not be stupid or a jackass so people don't want to be rid of me. Also, maybe I can irritate the other team. From what I know of survivior, strong types that win challenges are usually around the longest. That's why I chose Challenger first, to get started on physical strength. Beyond that, I'll have to play some to get a feel for what I need to work on. Right now I'm thinking that more intelligence and the Survivalist skills will be helpful.

Liosan, on 11 April 2011 - 05:29 PM, said:

Quick Question - Do the things people say in Challenges have any effect on the outcome? Aren't there random rolls at work w/ modifiers based on stats? Just want to be clear

Path-Shaper, on 11 April 2011 - 05:34 PM, said:

The rules state that challenges are essentially rolls and modifiers. If there is anything else at play by "talking" during the Challenge, you don't know anything about that.

You can read into that as little or as much as you want, but you'll find that in games I run, I give you every rule you are supposed to know about up front. I don't like to give any players any additional information beyond rule clarification, even if it's relatively benign.

twelve reiterates to me that his plan is to form a 5-person alliance and use that to go far into the game. It's a solid strategy, although in a game where everyone's out for their own agenda, it's hard to have a solid grasp on 4 other people. Also, I'm very curious why he chose Survivalist if he wanted to win challenges and form alliances. I would think it was somewhat obvious that Challenger and Leader roles were more obviously suited to those tasks.

Barghast, on 11 April 2011 - 05:37 PM, said:

Well I've talked to you a little bit about this already but my plan is to create/form a 5 person alliance that I plan on taking all the way to the final 5. I also am going to focus on winning challenges to make sure that my 5 person alliance is the stronger allinace from the two tribes. Within my alliance I plan on forming side alliances within it to make sure that multiple members believe that I've got final 2/3 deals with them to take me to the end. If not then I plan on focusin on leveling up in a couple of the challenge categories so I can make sure that I have a better than average chance of winning challeges and winning that all important immunity.

Path-Shaper, on 11 April 2011 - 05:55 PM, said:

How did your role selection of Survivalist play into your plan to create a 5-person alliance and win a significant amount of challenges?

Tapper's taking the Leadership role and really exploring it. I don't know if losing tribe members intentionally is ever a good idea, though.

Eloth, on 11 April 2011 - 05:47 PM, said:

Hmmm. Survive, of course. Generally, that means getting to a point where you are obviously useful - but not so useful I am a clear candidate winner and thereby a threat. So, I will try to keep a few friends, show myself to be fairly loyal and therefore some people's second choice for survival - after themselves. I will try and forge a few alliances, but nothing to overt and not too eagerly. I think I'll wait till someone shows an opinion, gauge the reactions and either side with that person or with th front runner of those who go against that person.

Basically, I'll play a waiting game.

Now, my role gives me a good chance to do better than my team mates when my team is losing members, so I might want to look into a way to drop a few guys on my team, using that can't-lose-morale-during-Tribal-Council ability (aka Optimist) to it's very best effect. However, that is a starting strategy, and I'll have to take some allies with me to the final if I make it there - because I fully expect the alliances of Pendorosa and whatever the other thing was, to stand.

That enough info for you, for now?

Trull's son is playing an interesting game. He's really more of a follower than a survivalist, so we'll see how it goes. A very low-key game can be dangerous early on. It's common to get rid of some nonparticipants and weaker players early in the game.

Hood, on 11 April 2011 - 05:49 PM, said:

Well I've never really watched survivor, and seeing as this isn't a traditional mafia game, I'm at a loss. I'll probably try and keep my head down a bit, in hopes that others rise up and so they can target one another as the greatest threat. If I make it into the later game I might play more aggressively.

Bent's strategy is starting to sound familiar... laying low. Ah, but the game respects big moves and big players. I wonder how well it will work.

Tulas Shorn, on 11 April 2011 - 05:52 PM, said:

Well, for the first few days (i.e until the merger, I plan on laying low. I will pick 2 of the stronger players today and try and forge an alliance, making it so we 3 make it to the end.

where I hope my skill and charm see me through.
but things may change after the merge (if I am still around) so I will be keeping my eyes peeled for a better group of team mates.

Secondly, I really hope to keep my head down and not stir up too much, I'd like to be in deep before my real alt is revealed, for shock value alone, lol

so there you have it. I will get on a bit later and sound out my ideas on who is who and role picks for myself etc.

Nice job by the way

Loki is really seeming like more of a Leader or Genius or even Deceiver with his plans. Interesting choice to go Survivalist.

Gamelon, on 11 April 2011 - 05:59 PM, said:

My approach to the game is going to be the same as my approach to life - observation, consideration, execution.

I intend to start by observing my fellow team mates and determining their effectiveness as members of the tribe. We need practical, cool-headed, rational people if we are going to survive and succeed.

Once I have made my opinions about my fellow team mates I intend to focus on building relationships with those who I feel will be an asset to the tribe and, more importantly, to me.

I plan to make myself a valuable and likable member of the tribe through the use of my practical skills, survivalist know how, and good humoured nature.

I intend to try and stay out of the politics and alliances that usually arise in these situations and instead focus on ensuring our tribes success, and my own success, through a fierce dedication to challenges and a 'never quit' attitude which I hope will help safeguard my seat at the final tribal council.

Mentalist is a bit worried that the ending will be a meta-based vote. That may be true *if* we have a lot of people who have meta guessed each other at that point. Hopefully it will be a vote for the most deserving individual.

Alkend, on 11 April 2011 - 06:08 PM, said:

find strong players and ally with them. I suppose that'd be a good start.

I can't shake the feeling that there will be a lot of meta involved in the final voting process, but i'll worry about that later.

Path-Shaper, on 11 April 2011 - 06:11 PM, said:

It's an interesting debate... I have to wonder what will happen near the end of the game. I would hope that people mostly pick the person they actually feel deserves to win, but playing for days and days can sometimes cause people to get bitter and angry about losing. It happens all the time on the real show and they vote for someone other than maybe the best player.

Still, it's all considered valid gameplay. Part of winning is making sure you have the votes.

Vengey should realize that I didn't mention him because he didn't do exceptionally well or poorly. He does have an 20% chance to reach shore with his next roll, however.

I think I like twelve, so I may be picking on him a little bit.

Barghast, on 11 April 2011 - 06:32 PM, said:

If you have this set up like survivor. Usually the last challenge befroe the last tribal council is an endurance challege. I plan on having a significant advantage in that category so I can be a lock to be in the finals. That is of course I make it that far. I don't have much in the way of social skills so I'm fairly sure that I'll get myself voted off well before the finals anyway.

Path-Shaper, on 11 April 2011 - 06:36 PM, said:

Very astute observation trying to link the show to the game =) In many ways, I tried to make this game faithful to the show. In some ways, I broke the convention in favor of better gameplay.

However, I'm not sure how what you said has any impact on "getting" to the final challenge. How do you plan on using the Survivalist to form a large alliance and win challenges?

The Dude outlines his entire strategy... he picked Follower because he knows those people frequently make it to the end. A wise choice!

Tiamatha, on 11 April 2011 - 06:33 PM, said:

Oh, didn't see your questions. I chose follower for a couple of reasons. I watched Survivor for about 8-10 seasons. There were generally 2 types of people that won, the dominant decievers, who basically manipulate their way to the top. and the followers, many times these people win because they made it to the finals and the Jury just couldn't stand the thought of an asshat winning a million dollars so they kind of win by default. I know my limitations, and I don't have the overbearing personality to be an alpha ( besides..that strategy is realy really hard to pull of as you go through the game with a bullseye on your chest for the majority of the game) , So I chose follower as they are in the finals a lot by default. What I like to do different though is mix in a bit of deception, and tom foolery in my play so I won't be a straight up follower. I had hoped to be an information gathering role, and as it turns out, I am. I think this will bode well, and I can make myself valuable to the tribe. Maybe teaming up with a dominant challenger, and a Genius to make a good team going into the merge.

I also chose follower because I didn't think a lot of people would choose that role, making my skills and information much more valuable. The term "Follower" has a negative connotation and I thought some people would shy away from picking that role.

My general strategy is going to be to form a 3-4 person group once we get into our tribes. thus ensuring I make it to the merge. Then, it will depend. If we are the dominant tribe at the merge, I will look to get the other Tribe's number low, before picking off my own tribe. There is a fine balance there and I will have to make sure that we don't look to "Cliquey" or the peeps in our tribe not in the "Clique" will jump ship and swing the pendulum. If we are in the low tribe at the merge..well, then I will have to use my information providing abilities to make myself look valuable to the power peeps. Maybe make an alliance. and be low man on the totem. Then as they start picking off my old tribe I will need to form a new group within the power tribe and go from there. It's really hard to win if your tribe is minority at the merge. really hard, so I will try to make sure that doesn't happen.

Ok, i am tired of typing. hope that is what you were looking for.

Path-Shaper, on 11 April 2011 - 06:39 PM, said:

That is considerably more than I asked for, but well thought out. Thank you =)

Is ansible having second thoughts about going Genius? There are opportunities for that role yet. He may be overreacting because he's rolling poorly in the first challenge.

Kalse, on 11 April 2011 - 06:34 PM, said:

I'm wondering if it was a great idea to choose an Intelligence-based role, since surviving on a desert island is bound to be largely physical... :D

Vengeance loves to stir the pot... how long can he survive? For his sake, I hope he keeps it to himself.

The Tribes will be able to communicate as a Tribe after the initial Challenge ends. The Tribe thread is mostly for private discussion for the tribe but the game basically starts with everyone racing for shore... there's no real group element just yet. Don't worry, it will come soon.

twelve lays out why Survivalist is a good challenge type role, but he mistakenly thought that others would take Challenger. I wonder if it wasn't interesting enough or people just thought about their own survival more.

Barghast, on 11 April 2011 - 06:55 PM, said:

No role (that I could think of) could help with forming an alliance. That I have to do by talking to people. I'm going to wait until the first half of day/phase for people to approch me with alliances. I'm hoping that I'll get one or two hits. Then I would approach two other players and ask to form an allinace with them. Before the first tribal council I hope to have at least a 4 person allaince and should control almost half of the voting block. This is how I'm going to approach forming my allinace.

I chose survialist because I'm thinking that more than one player would have picked the challenger role and I was hoping that someone else would have picked the Genuis role because those were the two roles I was seriously thinking of taking. I had narrowed the selection of challenge beneficial roles down to those three. Since I figured that people would have picked those other two roles then we would need to have someone be the endurance role. Then it dawned on me that being the endurcance role will be very helpful personally toward the end game.

Exciting finish at the end there. Liosan/HiddenOne with a 10 snatches it out of the reach of Fener/Dibs, who comes up one short. Alkend/Mentalist led the whole way and never looked back. Maybe people will think he's a Challenger? Amusing that the Follower won the challenge.

Roldom lays out his master plans, although I'm a little surprised he's thinking Survivalist will advance his goals.

heres the scoop :D

First off its all about team work and providing the team with as much adaptability and options as possible to help us win challenges.

the more challenges we win the better off we will be, giving us an edge against those suckers on the other team.

While advocating team work and creating close ties with my tribe I will be preparing for the end game, where I will secretly poison the food, giving everyone diareaha and cramps so i can easily cruise to victory

:p

Looks like I need to clarify the actions a bit.

Karatallid, on 12 April 2011 - 01:37 AM, said:

ah, thats what the A is for ....theres no facepalm on my emoticons!!!

right...so the tribal council is when someone gets voted off, so is that the end of day? or is that more like end of week? and my ability can only be used once per tribal council....so if i use it to soon before the challenge its effects can wear off before the challenge comences?

otherwise i dont see why you made it an active ability, if its effects last from the second i use it till the tribal council finishes ( and i can then use it again and again after the next tribal councils etc ) wouldnt i just cast it as soon as possible after each council anyway? making it run effectivly 24-7 anyway

Karatallid, on 12 April 2011 - 02:00 AM, said:

lets see if i can say that in a way that makes more sense

call the time between trbal councils the game phase

At the begining of each game phase i cook my meal, does the +1 morale last untill the end of the game phase?

is there more than one challenge each game phase? and if so, does my morale effect only last untill the next challenge?

Path-Shaper, on 12 April 2011 - 03:40 AM, said:

Your Morale bonus is immediate. It's just a shift in Morale. It doesn't last until any particular time.

The reason it's "activated" is that you only get one action per Tribal Council Cycle (which is actually 3 days long in terms of "game time," but it will only be 24-36 hours here).

So if you were to gain other actions, you'd have to choose which one you want to do. And if you wanted to say, hunt for a hidden immunity idol, you couldn't do that and also boost Morale. I'll clarify on-thread.

Lizra is going to start looking around, although his odds are pretty slim.

Ruse, on 12 April 2011 - 02:10 AM, said:

First, I want to stay under the radar. I hope a lot of people like to vote out players they deem the most dangerous, but they may not.
I hope to forge alliances with some "stronger" players who like to worry about one person less and have them vote along with them and ride in their tide until it's time for backstabbing.

But a plan is there to ignore it and do something completely different, so I may or may not stick to it.

Ruse, on 12 April 2011 - 02:18 AM, said:

Use search Hidden Immunity Idol.

Might as well start looking for that stuff early on.

I have a question about forging and breaking alliances. You say I cannot reforge a broken alliance, it has to come from the other player. Is that valid for a circle of phases or for the whole game?
What if both players have broken the alliance at different times but want it reforged?
What if you already have two alliances and someone offers you a third?

Path-Shaper, on 12 April 2011 - 03:48 AM, said:

I prefer if you submit that via a separate PM in the future, but for now I'll accept it.

You begin looking for the Hidden Immunity Idol... you will know the results by the next Challenge.

As to reforging a Broken alliance, that is valid for the entire game. People generally don't like it when you stop being their friend.

There is a distinction in the game between alliances "forged" and alliances "received." You may only initiate two "forges" yourself, but other players may target you for an an alliance. Those do not count against your 2-alliance restriction.

twelve is really confusing me here... he's overthinking everything.

Barghast, on 12 April 2011 - 02:50 AM, said:

So something just dawned on me. With the number of players and the "need" to have mafia done in around a week are one of the concessions to game play that you did was having both tribes go to tribal council each "day"? I was thinking that the mafia version of the game would play out like the tv series where the two tribes competed against each other for immunity and then only the losing tribe would have to go to tribal. II may have made a mistake right out of the gate.

Path-Shaper, on 12 April 2011 - 03:49 AM, said:

Who said the game had to be done in a week? This game is likely to take two or three weeks.

And the fishing from snake0026...

Okaros, on 12 April 2011 - 03:15 AM, said:

Not sure if Karatallid has asked you yet, but are morality bonuses stackable? For example, can two members of our team each use their ability, two Top Chefs for instance, in the same tribal council cycle/challenge to provide for a +2 bonus to our team's morality?

Path-Shaper, on 12 April 2011 - 03:50 AM, said:

You don't know that information. You will always be told your current Morale going into a new phase, but you don't know what caused gains, losses, and so forth, unless it's explicitly stated on-thread.

I'm going to do my pre-game cast assessments tomorrow, most likely, since by then everyone will have had a chance to talk strategy with me and communicate on the thread, but right now D'rek is an early favorite. Look at her take complete control of her tribe AND be the first to get some alliances formed with chatty players.

Serc, on 12 April 2011 - 04:23 AM, said:

Well, my planned strategy is to build a group alliance as fast as possible, and by doing it first I will hopefully be the leader of said alliance and thus invaluable to my alliance-mates. 9 in the tribe, so if I make 2 alliances and my allies in turn make 1 more, we'll have a majority of the tribe right away. If it so happens that we go to council a lot and vote off the 4 not in the alliance, as the leader and middle link of communication, they won't vote me off because that would split the 5 into two 2s.

With that in mind, I would like to:

Forge Alliance with Hood's Path
and
Forge Alliance with Merrid

I choose those two because they are active so far, seem like experienced mafia players and those alts seem to get voted out less often than most, IMO.

Path-Shaper, on 12 April 2011 - 04:40 AM, said:

Got it, the messages are sent out. Please keep in mind that if they choose, they can reject your alliance request with "Break Alliance." If this happens, you can try to forge with other people.

Shin laments learning the most-known information, but it does allow him to meld into the pack if he wishes.

Shadow, on 12 April 2011 - 04:35 AM, said:

Well, unless everyone did what I did exactly,(request the survivalist description as a deceiver) we have a lot of brawny survivalists in our tribe. This should be good for our team, since we'll have morale through the roof. And it should be good for me, since I shoudl be able to argue for my usefulness as a brainy guy. When you ahve a bunch of people with teh same exact skills on your team, that's known as "redundant", so I should be able to keep myself on the team for a while at least.

Too bad I chose to learn about the role that everyone has already pretty much revealed on thread. Oh well.

I can't give away the exact details on all legs of the challenges. The second leg may require a small amount of endurance. It may require none. You have all of the information about it that I can give.

In response to question #2

You are correct, the Endurance penalty will not count against you (later in the challenge) if you only run the first leg once.

I just assumed that this would be done quickly. Though I won't mind if this gets dragged out. Also do I submit my actions in the confessional? If so then

I would like to use Action - Top Chef

Mentalist considers his plan of action for the challenge.

Drek's strategy continues.

Thanks. So can I start talking then, or do I need to wait for Merrid and HP to not break the alliance first?

Path-Shaper, on 12 April 2011 - 05:06 AM, said:

You can start talking, since that more or less simulates you 'approaching' them to talk about the alliance. Just keep in mind that if they wanted to, they could read what you said and then reject the alliance, in essence gaining free information from you.

Just a caveat, tho.

Serc, on 12 April 2011 - 05:13 AM, said:

Okay, thanks. I figure I'll reveal my plans since those are pretty standard anyways and should motivate them to join, but I'll hold out on who each other is and what I can do until I can trust them more.

And she begins talking to both Merrid and HP with the same words.

Hey there buddy. I've decided to jump into things head first and start an alliance. Though we'd all like to avoid ever going to Tribal Council until the tribes merge, preparing for the WCS is always the heart of mafia strategy. So the plan is to get a 5-person alliance, so we'll always have a majority at tribal council and we always vote out someone who is not in the alliance. Once the tribes merge, then we keep the alliance going to eliminate the pensadors first.

You in?

Roldom's a bright guy but he's also a little clueless. Forging an alliance with Ruse is a good idea... if you know how to do it.

SO do I get my knowledge of tribemates now that the initial challenge is over?

Informant works for alliance-members only. You'll have to be in an alliance before you can get its effects.
