... Thanks MS, you made me realise what a mistake I was making... am texting her now "Hey... a guy on the internet I met once told me that I should postpone or even cancel the wedding cos you like Twilight. You understand right? Also, I'm gonna need the engagement ring back, I could probably get my money back on that..."

Has she got back to you yet ?
Now all the friends that you knew in school they used to be so cool, now they just bore you.
Just look at em' now, already pullin' the plow. So quick to take to grain, like some old mule.

my big question - what the hell did they spend all that money on in Sahara?

i've seen it, it's decent, but seriously, somebody has a BIG god-damn hole in their pocket for it to have cost that much.

I did. Yes, I have her number. No, I won't tell you how.

MOO HOO HA HA
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

I wonder how far down the list Chronicles of Riddick is? I heard that it made very little money. I loved that film though. So much cheese and action goodness. My favorite scene is the one where he kills a guy with a tin cup.

One of my all time fave sci-fi flicks.

.....and yeah it only made 57 million domestically, but did a little better internationally with 119 Million....and what's even better...Vin Diesel and director David Towhy KNOW how much of a cult hit the first AND second flick are, so they are making a third!!!!!

If you ignore Pitch Black and just think of Chronicles as a stand alone sci-fi action flick, it is an okay film. The overall story is stupid but the individual bits it is made out of are awesome. I loved the part where they were running from the sunset.

If you do, I will neg rep you. That movie's actually good - if you get the director's edition. Somehow six or seven minutes added from the cutting room floor turns it from a movie that's scattered bits of good stuff to a pretty coherent and really fucking entertaining movie. Most of that footage is when Riddick fights the Necros on the prison world and the Purifier talks. But there's also a slightly different spin to the ending too.

Why would you ignore Pitch Black? Great movie. This is why Apt's take on movies should always be viewed as being inherently skewed.

My point was that if you came into the cinema to see a film of the same style and genre as Pitch Black you might get a bit overwhelmed and disappointed, at what you got instead. As a sequel to Pitch Black, Chronicles is not good. It is a whole different kind of film. I believe that is most people gripe with the film, not so much what it was, but what it could have been. Still I liked it.

Definitely one of my all time favourites too. One of the few movies I can watch multiple times and still like it.

Agree very much on the directors' cut point. The cinematic release took out all the plot elements that pointed toward his furion past, the reason why the necros wanted to kill him so badly, and the method of his escape from vaggo on the fire planet. Without those bits the whole thing didn't make much sense at all. With those bits it made just enough extra sense that the film totally held together.

And outrunning the sunrise was all kinds of hilarious. I loved that part. And the teacup.

Yeah hence saying it SHOULD have been on the list due to how bad it was....

The entire point of the list is flop via dollars.

You can't chart good/bad via dollars the way the list was done. 100% of people who walked out of Spidey3 may have hated it, but they still paid to see it. even Rotten Tomatoes is just a composite of reviews

District 9 was a better film than Avatar...)

It is a better film in every respect. I agree.

Thirded. AVATAR was very pretty but wholly vacant.

Overthunking that movie is a waste of time. It's fun enough for what it is, albeit only a shadow of PITCH BLACK.

I don't think anyone was expecting it to be like Pitch Black.
If it was named Pitch Black 2 then you'd have a movie with new people being stranded on that planet.
The second movie's title tells you it's the continued saga of one character.

Of the few that I have actually watched on that list, Postman was the absolute worst. IT IS TERRIBLE.

Slant magazine was actually calling Red Planet one of the unappreciated sleeper classics of the last decade

they've been wrong before though
