Even so, I take the "scant regard to humans" to mean that there's definitely some non-human blood (or a soul) in there, and given the Spar of Andii location it's probably Tiste Andii.

As an aside, that is one of my favourite scenes in the series.

I'm about to start reading Forge of Darkness maybe it will clear a few things up. Didn't Steve allude to Quick being in the Kharkanas Trilogy but no't being recognized? It's clear QB has many souls inside of him I' m not sure if we really know the full truth of that other than the story we hear of the Raraku desert and the pursuit by the BB(Bridge Burners). In the first chapter of Gardens when Ammanas and Cotillion confront Apsalar (then just a fisher girl) in Itko Kan they make mention of the witch that was killed next to her with the candles on the ground. Kellenvad mentions how she only had a meager 5 weak souls inside her, so its obvious this talent is known to others and has been done before. I think there is more to Kellenvad & Shadowthrone + QB that we know about.

Is there any chance Shadowthrone, Ammanas, Emperor Kellanved is QB's father? The tapping of the cane and the presence of Mother Dark could indicate the presence of both parents in the beginning of TCG.

Methinks Shadowthrone is not the father of QB. QB has memories of a childhood spent in 7 cities. QB likely encountered some ancient being (possibly the jaghut hostage) and she plucked his body for use as her newest vessel. SW just simply has a habit of staying in MD's shadow(lol), as is his aspect. So, QB is likely a human whomis possessed by an Andii and umpteen high wizards and a sage or two. As stated previously, his intimate familiarity with dolls and Boles suggests that he is likely whatshername frim Haut's tower.

I think trying to read too much into the Spar of Andii speech is dangerous, as whatever else it is, it is also SE jerking us around.


Let's remember something about that little speech. Shadowthrone was watching and (presumably) thought Quick Ben did not KNOW he was watching. But did Quick know. Could some or all of that speech just be messing with Shadowthrone? If any answers we get don't line up with the Spar speech that will be the explanation.

Beyond that, this is all horribly vague. 12 souls we know about in there. There are both a Mother and a Father in the pantheon that do not have to be your literal mother or father. As for the 'old blood', he just drew a circle over a spot where Hood's wife was murdered to power up Azathenai blood magic. So is the old blood his, or is it hers, and he is using it with the sceptre and horse hair to conjure his ride.

Best guess is that Mother refers to Mother Dark. but does not mean she is his mother.

Best guesses for father are Father light (doesn't have to be his father) or Draconus (could be father of one of the souls).
