Hi everyone,

what is this series called? Obviously it isn't PoN2, but cannot find the title anywhere. Has this been completed?

The trilogy is called The Aspect-Emperor. The second book is due out soon I think.

Yes it's a planned trilogy. No idea when the last book is set for release.

Okay, well I think I will wait before getting the first book in this trilogy, I don't like waiting around too long for things and we are talking at least 18 months before the next one, last one, is due out. Back to Dresden for me then I think, i'm in the middle of this series.

Book 2, The White Luck Warrior, comes out in a few weeks.

Bakker is currently writing the third in the series, The Unholy Consult, which Amazon have down for January 2012 but I'm guessing about this time in 2013. There will also be a final series following the Aspect-Emperor, though Bakker hasn't revealed the name of it yet. He hasn't decided whether that one will be two or three books.

Bakker has a wiki and a blog, and we have several advance readers/ dedicated highly informed bloggers like Pat (pat5150 on these boards, who is from the Hotlist, which I can't recommend enough even though I'm not a regular reader of it) who keep us all up to date :(

@Tapper, I look at my hotmail and this forum regarding the internet, every now and then I find some good sites and browse through them, maybe find some good videos that have been recommended and stuff, but i'm clueless at research because I haven't got a passion for it. The only thing that got me started on this Forum was the books, amazing, loved them all, then the debates or explanations from other members and then Mafia. Mafia!!! So yeah, Kudos to you guys for posting the latest news and giving us the information we need/want :(

Ah, ok - you're somewhat less of a web-user than most of us (altho I don't dive any deeper than what google tells me to check, myself) :(

I can recommend you to add the HotList and the Wertzone to your bookmarks/favorites (both accessible through the signatures of Pat5150 and Werthead respectively) for your fantasy news fixes - then there are the Book I bought and What I'm currently reading threads, for tips and links.

My habitat is mostly the Inn and the Games section, and its Apt and co who are the main link providers et cetera regarding funny stuff :admin:.

I second the Wertzone :(

If you fancy reading some bizarre/well-thought-out/crazy Bakker discussion, you could do worse than the Bakker threads on Westeros. They're up to a crazy number of threads by now and they discuss The Judging Eye, so you probably don't want to spoil yourself... however if you do cave and read TJE, you should totally click on this link. CLICK IT!!. I think that's thread 11, so you could find thread 1... or go back even further and find the Prince of Nothing threads.

There is an excerpt for The White-Luck Warrior on Pat's website, posted a few days ago, if you got that far.

There is also the Three Seas Forum, however it is deader than dead these days. Bakker used to post on there as well, though (as Cujara Cinmoi or however you spell it).

Yeah, I'm a Bakker fanboy. Mog-Yellow?

Oh Bakker...I enjoy his work a great deal, but, alas, I find I have to reread everything every time a new book is due, the time between releases is just too long, though, as a writer, I understand the neccessity, which makes me suspect Stephen King, who at one point, averaged 2 books a year, is actually a robot. Anyway I'll have to get into Bakker Mode to read his work again. I've spent too long (roughly 4-5months) reading Erikson's work to comfortably adjust to something less than 1200 pages.
Here is a series that will for ever inspire me. Not only as a writer, but as a person. Mr. Erikson has shown us both sides to the human condition. He has shown even the lost, the destitute, the forgotten and unwitnessed can triumph.

yah, curiously even an influx of higher quality readers from here didn't give that forum much of a boost. It was dying even back when the first trilo was wrapping up. I generally found more interesting Bakker discussion here.

I found The Judging Eye to be something of a flop. Oh it was well done, with all the typical cues to his writing, however, it seemed unfocussed, and it left me wondering why he confimed the fact that Kellhus did in fact go mad. Since he's done this he's either confirming it to mislead us, or he's done it for the sake of doing it. Either way it lessens the story in some regards. If he's messing with the reader then it's just annoying, if not it takes away from the character

The whole "What came before" section is subjective and shouldn't be taken at face value. I guess the reason he put that line in there was to touch on one of the big questions hung over from the first series... but I agree it's annoying.

At this point I don't know whether we'll ever find out what the case really is, as the Kellhus POV may never return. He does seem to genuinely believe his bullshit, since he claims to see haloes and his POV with Moe suggested that statement was true. But then other people see them as well. Mass hysteria or something else?

Same with the Cnauir statement: completely subjective and I don't think he's actually dead. I don't know whether he'll ever make another appearance, but I don't think he's dead.

I don't see how you can say that for a section where the author is talking directly to us. Unreliable narrators and misdirection are one thing, the author (as himself) deliberately coming out and lying to us would be nonsensical. Am I missing something?

I will say Bakker is difficult to get a read on sometimes. I think sometimes his elliptical style may be as unintentional as it is intentional.
OK, I think I got it, but just in case, can you say the whole thing over again? I wasn't really listening.

The judging eye must be read for the final scene with Achamian and his new mates. It was one of the best scenes I've ever read - even if the rest of the book was a bit lame. I'm thinking the next one is going to be a lot better though
