@Dibs, I'm fine being a bit suicidal. By my strategy, it would have been smart to lynch or start a train on me earlier, when I was gone for a while. I always advocate low-post lynching at the start of the game, even if it's me =)

The one big thing about The Dude's summary post is that it is full of compliments. People forget how far compliments can take you in Mafia. Someone wants to lynch you? Tell them they're smart. You'll be surprised how well you can kill people with kindness. Sometimes throwing a tantrum works, too, but I have found that just being nice is enough. It's a powerful tactic for scum to use. For the Dude to come out and agree with half of the people's opinions like that, I find it to be a little dodgy.

Ok so have done a bit of reading up. I don't find either tater or silencer super scummy. Tapper has been pressing but I don't think he has been pushing tatter around. Seems to me tatter was pushing back pretty well.
That being said I think that a tatter lynch gives us a little more information then a silencer lynch.

But if we really wanted to do something different we would swing the lynch onto the dude for his smarmy post.

So, I'm going to:

Vote Tattersail

Firstly, while Silencer has played oddly, a few people have commented that it seems more symp like than killer like. The play doesn't make sense for a scum player, because of the heat it draws. It makes him look scummy, so it's not a good play for scum to make. The play could be beneficial, if he's aiming to look like a symp(why lynch the symp is brought up a lot, so appearing like one is a good place to be for scum), but this such a risky move I can't see it, particularly on day one when lynches take far less of a case to go through, and considering our bias towards lynching more active players.

So, Silencer is possibly a symp, but I doubt he's a killer. How he's played is just too risky for that, I think.

Secondly, he's being voted for bad reasons:

"On Silencer: I can't see him fudging up the thread as a killer. Just don't see it. I can see him reading a Symp role and deciding he was going to cause chaos on thread and just diving in head first. "

The Dude goes on to vote Silencer. Seriously, you're voting him while you can't see him CF'ing as anything but inno?

Thirdly, he's not been on for quite a while, so hasn't had a chance to seriously defend himself.

Tattersail seems more likely to be a killer to me. Yes, people do mess up, and yes he's relative new. On the other hand, playing the noob card seems particularly effective in altless games. Thinking about it, it seems to me that, while a new player is more likely than an old one to over-react to things they shouldn't, I also think a new player is much more likely to over-react when they are scum than an old one.

@Grief, if not being on for a while is a way to not get lynched, AFK for the bulk of the rest of this game.

And since I'm on deck to run a longish, complex game, I may be slightly thinking ahead and trying to not KILL OFF all of our new players so quickly. Y'know, so they don't get bitter and avoid my game.

This is actually a really good point. If she is RI she has done her job and given us something to go on, if she is scum, then it gives us something to go on. I would be willing to consider a switch to tattersail. It just seems like a waste to me as I have serious doubts about he being scum. Also, if Tapper was scum why push so hard on day 1? he's a veteran. it doesn't make sense. It does if he is a symp, but not a killer.

And yes, I am being a bit of a bully right now.
Point is, if everyone is just being really nice, you end up with a game where:
1. people get nearly auto-lynched for:
i. being the lowest poster (good luck defending against that),
ii. for being too smooth (yes, because there never was really any pressure from anyone)

2. and since there is nothing to talk about,
i. everyone inflates their post count by being non-commitant),
ii. where we all sit and wait for the finder to reveal who is scum.

Now, those games can be fun breaks and they sure are not post-intensive so they're cool to play from work, but unless you have an awesome night action and can get satisfaction from that, it does not really engage the thinkymeatz.
