Dark Souls Sequel to Demon's Souls

Thoughts:
-Combat looks even more fluid.
-Dual wielding is viable!
-Torches for pitch-black dungeon areas, I love it. Dark Souls has always been great about giving the player a feeling that exploration is dangerous; this just ups the antes.
-Drop stones of healing = Estus flask replacement? I wonder if this means we'll be back to a Demon's Souls healing system where you pick up/purchase healing items as you go.
-Environments look great, of course. Crossing the bridge to the castle with the dragons flying overhead? Fucking awesome.
-I'm wondering how much this will be related lore-wise to the first Dark Souls.
Can't wait. Looks like it'll run on current generation consoles, so I'm wondering if we'll see it sometime this year.

The bridge to the castle with the wyverns looked gorgeous and very reminiscent of the Painted World. I read earlier that it's not a sequel in terms of continuing the story, but will have nods to the lore, at least, I think I did. I've read so much new information from various articles since yesterday that I can't track down where I read it, bleh.
Gametrailers and a few other places are throwing around a late October release date, similar to what Amazon had listed a few days back before switching it to the end of December. I really hope we'll see it this year, it looks incredible.

So long as they don't do anything weird and unexpected with the gameplay, it's going to be more Dark Souls, so I'll be happy. It look gorgeous. One of the things I like about this game is that it doesn't all look crisp and high definition - far away areas are faded, and slightly out of focus, which makes it more real to my eye. Also, how even in the short cut-scenes, all your equipment and weapons are there, not like some games that have a single scene without the precise detail. It's pretty impressive considering how many combinations of gear there are.
I just killed Ornstein and Smough on my first attempt...with 13 vitality. This wizarding path makes for a very different game. I also used the black eye orb to get back the Firelink keepers soul, and hey, I now have the Lordvessel too.
Can't help thinking that anyone playing a sorcerer is missing out on a load of weapons though, as you just don't need them. Although I might have to make the Furysword, just because it's awesome.

Hah, I just made the Moonlight Horn and the Furysword. I bumped the horn up to +4 and the sword up to +2. Also thought about making my Halberd into a Lifehunt Scythe, but I don't know if I want to lose my primary weapon in case I hate the scythe.
Also got my Black Knight Sword to +4. It's a beast that high and I'm making shorter work of the silver knights. Too scared to go after Ornstein and Smough right now because I want to kill Ornstein second.
Gave up on leveling my intelligence to use soul spear because it takes 50+k right now to level and I have ten more to go before I can use it.

Also, I was scared as heck exploring all those rooms within the Anor Londo church. Exploring in this game is a surprisingly tense thing for a video game avatar.
I hope they keep that fresh for the second game. Not sure about what flaws there are, although some of the weapon upgrading makes little to no sense.

I made the moonlight horn, but its damage at the moment is minimal compared to the spells. I've also upgraded the club I started with to a divine weapon in preparation for the catacombs.
Amp, surprised you're at such a high level but can't use soulspear? I'm level 50 something now, and have 42 Int, but I can still use weapons that don't require high dex or strength. Maybe its because I only put 2 points on vitality so far.
I'm aiming for 50 Int so I can use Logans best spells asap.
Chaos fireball is good now I've improved the pyro.. but nothing is as good as homing soulmass yet.

I put my strength to 40 and put almost everything else up to at least the low 20s (except resistance and attunement, which is at 18). Basically, I can use every weapon and shield in the game, although I can't carry Havel's shield because it is so friggin' heavy.
It was funny as hell to try going from gold hemmed robes and being fast to rockin' the Havel's armor with a Giant shield. Soooooo slow.

I know where you're coming from, on my first play I started as a light assassin type - but once I found some decent weapons, I ended up wearing Black Iron armor and carrying a huge Obsidian sword.

Just been farming. Im level 76 with 45 intelligence, 30 attunement and 30 vitality with everything else less than that.
Amph is this your first playthrough?
As for weapons and stuff I havnt used a guide for anything apart from the other day when i wandered onto it and found out about the Hollow Tree and lake thingy.
Also Homing Soulmass is the most useful spell ever.

Yeah, it's a great early warning in the dark too.
Tiam, if you want to improve your farming, go and get the Covetous Silver Serpent ring. I got it last night in the tomb of the giants - it boosts the souls you get when you kill stuff. If you've got the lordvessel now you can then warp back out.
I used Fall Control for a shortcut, and shot the skeleton wheels from a ledge before killing Pinwheel.
I've now got 45 Int. I keep thinking I should level vitality beyond 13, but I just don't seem to need it yet.

You need a Pyromancy Flame equipped in order to use pyromancy (red glove).

The same way you equip any weapon, just put it in your right or left hand and us R1/L1 (or whatever your attack button is for a light attack) to cast.

You equip it like anything else. Like a shield or something.
Gonna kill ornstein and smough and have a see what happens after that. I havnt sunk any real points into pyro im just sticking with soul sorceries as there effective enough for me. I might have a crack at ornstein and co now but did anyone use that guy you can have to help you. Ive never used anyone before but did by accident the first time i fought them and it was easier by far. Ive been soloing the bosses up till now.

Yes, this is my first play through. I realized that I could go human, pump up my humanity a bit and sorta farm the silver knights and giant knights to get titanite chunks and silver knight gear. It took me a long while to get the spear, but it's so worth it. That thing's range is incredible.
I did Ornstein and Smough with Solaire - one time Ornstein killed Solaire and came thiiiiiiiiiis close to killing me with the same impaling electro-spear move. It was super, super badass to watch and experience even though I was on the losing end. Very fun battle once Smough's out of the way.
Going spoilers here:

Whose the guy who killed the FireKeeper? The bonfire at fireshrine is dead for me?
Also I assume your consulting a guide Amph as I have no idea how to make weapons. I gave that smith before the very first titanite demon these embers that he wanted but I havnt got anything back from them.
Easily killed ornstein and Gough got that vessel that Amph has but no idea who hes fighting. Went back to Frampt and it looked like placing the vessel on the altar opened the bit in anor londo, a bit in the Demons Ruins that I cant get to because I havnt killed that discharge demon and another one I have no idea where it is.

The guy who was freed from the Undead parish killed her, and took her soul. She leaves her clothes and a Black Eye Orb in her cell. If you go into the big room in Anor Londo with the two giants, next to the one where you fight Orstein and Smough, you get a message saying that the Black Eye Orb is vibrating. (Maybe only if you're Human though).
If you then use the Black Eye Orb, you can invade the world of her killer. He has two other people with him, but if you kill him first they don't matter. When you kill him, you get back the Firekeeper Soul which you can return to Fireflink to relight the Bonfire.
Looks like everyone is around the same point - although once you have the Lordvessel, there are four areas to visit. The Dukes Archives in Anor Londo, New Londo (down from Firelink), Tomb of the Giants (past the graveyard, and down), and the Demon Ruins (behind Quelaags).
Up to you which order you do them..but trom past experience, I'm taking on the Tomb of the Giants first (awesome ring, and place to farm a ton of Humanity) and leaving the Demon Ruins until last. Not sure about the other two yet, the Dukes Archives is tough, but that's where you get Logans best spells so I might do that next.
