When winter has me down I talk to my friend from Yellowknife. That always cheers me up :w00t:

It's funny how you miss cold and snow when you live in a place that really has neither. Where I am now never gets down below 5 degrees © in winter. Strangely enough, just typing that makes me sad.

Not to say I'm as hardy as you Canucks, but the upper Midwest has its fair share of nasty cold weather (-20 farenheit according to my folks last week - too lazy to convert that to celcius for all y'all)

God,

Howard Stern was complaining on his show this morning about how city snow plows come fill in your driveway after you've finished shoveling it out.

Get a fucking life man....it's just what plows do. They push snow to the side and it's your stupid driveway's fault for being in the way. Move to Florida if you can't handle it.

he's like "well they can lift the plow and not fill my driveway with snow"....yeah but if they did that the road would not be plowed and you'd have a crashed car blocking the end of your driveway instead of a few shovelfuls of snow.

In other news, snow here is truly perfect and has been for weeks. Small, consistent 5-10cm dumps and long periods of cold in between. I spent a grand total of 6 hours on cross country skis this weekend. Sobriety levels were extremely low.

Howard Stern is a useless tit who wouldn't last 1 second in Timmins in the middle of winter. Why is that yahoo still on the air?

His show is awesome....but he gets on these terrible bitch/moan fests once in awhile and will never admit he's wrong.

That said, you're right, he would not last a minute outside his shell of celebrity and money.

NYC (where he lives and works) is getting it's ass kicked by snow this year though for real. They had like a 25cm dump in Manhattan a few weeks back. that's a lot of snow for a city of that size to deal with.

My town is small enough that there's always essentially room to push the snow around. He was saying in NYC they have these souped-up plow trucks with huge heaters in the dumptruck part on the back that can melt the whole load of snow and run it off into the storm drains. I don't think I've ever seen that. Good idea for a big city though.

I didn't realize NYC was getting quite that much snow. Crazy!

That's okay, we were supposed to be crossing the border on Wednesday to see 30STM in Niagara Falls NY....but now there is some horrendous winter storm headed our way and it's going to drop like a foot and a half of snow on us...which may put the kibosh on my birthday night concert plans...bugger!

They're predicting 1.5 inches of ice, ICE, over the next few days down here.

Hope they're wrong.
I've always been crazy but its kept me from going insane.

Somebody was saying that at work, the mid US and Canada are going to get a severe thrashing here over the next few days.

Last time we got 1.5 inches of ice, things turned out very, very badly for Montreal and surrounding areas. Broke every major power line leading into the city except for 1. Some folks were without electricity for months.

yeah, NYC's been pretty bad this Winter. my dad's a truck driver who gets his cargo from the NY harbours, to bring back to TO.

right before New Years, he was stuck in NYC fro 3 days, b/c the harbour was closed due to too much snow.

Yeah, they are calling it the Groundhog Day Storm (my berfday)...sigh...at least I took the day off werk so I don't have to go out in it...but I am a little pissed about missing the concert.

Oh well, there's always something inherently fun about apocalyptic winter storms....so there's that.
