I had problems with the SWAT lizards thing not going anywhere. 5 seconds of seeing them mess stuff up would have been amazing.

Also think that video clips/comments about Peter being genetically modified as a youngster are dead on and the movie was re-cut to make it less of an issue or to save it for the Green Goblin to mess Peter's head up with. That makes way more sense than a fully magical spider bite - that there already was something in Peter's DNA that was waiting for a key to unlock it.

Otherwise, I really had no problems with the movie. The boss battle - especially the library one - was really well done. That's what a superhero/supervillain battle should look like. Lots of property destruction, clear views of quick movements (no jump cuts after jump cuts like Bourne, no visual blurring into meaninglessness like Transformers), claws, kicks, punches, random objects, spatial awareness. It was all there.

Smart plot, based on comic book stuff, better uncle/aunt, better love interest, more patience for Peter to Spiderman transformation, better understanding/presentation of teen life. Just a great, great movie.

Seriously, the best blueprint for comic book action movie in existence right now.
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

I agree with Briar King. I dislike the green goblin, and not in the sense that you're supposed to dislike a villain. But in the sense that I think he's become a useless villain who should just die and stay dead.
Screw you all, and have a nice day!

Well I just saw it and I loved it.

I felt like Andrew Garfield did an incredible job as Spiderman (better than Tobey Maguire). Maguire just seemed like a shy kinda guy, but def not a real teenager. Though that's probably got more to do with the writers than the actors. This Peter felt like a real teenager, who had all these issues and tried his very best to be a good guy but just had trouble expressing how he felt.

As someone who has absolutely no knowledge of the comics and bases everything spiderman-related on the Tobey Maguire films, I gotta say that I liked Gwen better than Mary Jane. Mary Jane just seemed like an airhead who was only interested in dating Spiderman, not Peter Parker. Gwen at least falls for the real guy.

So all in all it was definitely worth the 8 euros. (it also didn't hurt that there were about a million close-ups of Andrew Garfield Posted Image gods that guy is pretty)

My friends and I are already planning a return trip to the cinema Posted Image

I'm not a huge Spidy fan but I fucking loved Venom and ESP Carnage. Are they in this movies comic version? I really dont like the Green Gob. Hobgoblin would be nice though.

agreed! both Venom and Carnage would be cool but not the Venom of SM 3, why do they love Green Goblin so much, is it because they're Osborne(sp?) Hobgoblin would also be cool,
if they could put up a big budget i would like a Sinister Six, and can they add Kraven the Hunter?
It's not who I am underneath.. but what i do that defines me - Batman, Batman Begins; 'Without our deaths, sir, there would be no crime. Thus, no punishment to match,' 'Mortal Sword - '
'We are done, my friend. Now, in this manner, we choose the meaning of our deaths' - Mortal Sword Brukhalian to Veteran Nilbanas, siege of Capustan
'Ippen shinde miru (want to try dying this once) ?' - Jigoku Shoujo (Hell Girl)

Watched it again. The first 20 minutes of that movie sucked a fat one, in my opinion. But I love the rest.

Well, decided to go see this.

I'm torn. Acting and visuals all spot-on. Garfield was admittedly great.

But I can't help going back to my earlier concern...there is no reason for this film to exist in its present form. They could have just used the new actors with the Lizard plot, left the rebooted origin out, and it would have been fine. Indeed that would have left time to explore some of the more interesting things hinted at.

Also, I hate the rebooted origin. Peter was a science whiz in his own right, he didn't need Oscorp to supply him with the web for his shooters, he made it himself. (In fairness, Raimi didn't get that part right either.) He was also perpetually broke, which is why he began using his Spidey skills as a pro wrestler. They completely cut out the Daily Bugle stuff. That was the whole genius of Spiderman as a character - this powerful hero whose alter-ego just keeps getting his ass handed to him by life, be it Flash Thompson, J Jonah Jameson, money, girls, etc.

I say - prepare your flamethrowers - Raimi's Spidey was more true to the character. At least the original version. I never read Ultimate Spiderman so can't comment on whether it was true to that version.

I will probably watch the next installments, but will wait for Netflix.
OK, I think I got it, but just in case, can you say the whole thing over again? I wasn't really listening.

Just watched it. I was very impressed with everything except The Lizard; he looked terrible and
Spoiler

Still, minor gripe, I loved the visuals, the action, the banter, the actors... I even enjoyed the really cheesy bits like the crane run. That was a proper joy-of-cinema movie. It doesn't need to exist, but hey, why the hell not?

As for the end-of-credits scene:
Spoiler

I can't carry it for you, but I can carry you.

I agree with your complaint about the Lizard.

Holy shit, mark your calendars people, it's not often PG and I agree.
