I really enjoyed the first two episodes - the teaser after the 2nd ep finished hopefully means we are in for a rocking season as that looked very appealing!

I've gotta watch this. Second season of a show like this is always the acid test for whether it REALLY has legs or not...like BUFFY season 2.

We can hope...at least FALLING SKIES is something different from the glut of vampire/werewolf/fairytale stuff that's on TV right now (I'll only give GRIM a pass since I've watched more than a few eps and it's much better than I first assumed). Yes, I'm bitter. LOL

I'd really love to get more sci-fi on TV...in fact I'd really like to see a new Star Trek show...but that's for another thread.

I was very hard on this show early in S1, but as that season progressed (now I am caught up) it got better and better, to the point where I was hooked at the finale.

So now I've caught up to the most recent ep (4th of Season 2) and I honestly think that as decent as the first season ended up being...that these last four eps have been better than all the ones in S1 combined. I have absolutely loved Season2 so far!

Yeah, they let Tom go after exterminating the others on purpose. It was clear in the way the Mech and the Skitter looked at him and pointedly turned away.

As to this season's good stuff...

I LOVE that stuff that they do on the WALKING DEAD ...AKA the kid wanders off and shit and it annoys us...Doesn't happen on FALLING SKIES...that in this case Matt goes off with Diego's group and there is IMMEDIATE repercussions for that (in that they get caught and almost put into harness)showing that no in fact it's NOT a good idea to let the kid wanders off. Matt has learned his lesson now, and I liked that. I also like small attention to detail...like Maggie's dyed blonde hair from S1 has now half grown out and shows that yes...it HAS been three months. Same thing with Tom's wound on his forehead from S1 that gets freshly ripped open when he throws down with Pope. With the appearance of the bi-plane pilot and news about Charleston and the rest of the world I like the opening up of the situation to be a broader scope and for some reason I can't wait to hear something like that the Texan survivors have reformed the Texas Rangers and are badass or something. There's SO much room for awesome if they play this right. I am also impressed on how this show has begun to wrench serious emotion from me...like in S1 when Mike dies and they have his funeral and Tom talks about the playing of Taps...I got to admit I got a LITTLE misty...just a little....but sweet merciful crap when Jimmy died in Ep 3 of this season and they have the funeral and Weaver talks about the next world hopefully being kinder to him than this one was...I wept openly. The characters have had a chance to build, so that Hal, Tom, Weaver, Maggie and even some of Pope's old guys have had a chance to grow and change.

Consider me totally hooked. I love this show now.

Oh man, I really enjoyed the most recent episode. The interaction between Maggie and Hal is so "real" for me. She's still fucked up and can't commit to him, he can't really either and even when he does it doesn't go swimmingly. This culminated in that scene in the hospital where she just asks him to stay with her until she falls asleep. It was such a perfect dovetailing of their storyline in this ep. There is no rushed love story like there usually is on shows of this nature, it's a slow building one, and that to me is much more realistic.

The more episodes I watch of this show the more I absolutely love it. It's just really well written (for the most past), well acted and cleverly plotted.

Oh and the good news is that TNT has officially renewed it for a 3rd Season! Hells yes!

I wonder if they will get to Charleston by Season's end or before that. It would be nice to have them arrive there and find that everything isn't paradise in paradise and the 2nd Mass will have to take stock for its own. Either way, it should be good.

Pope. I didn't miss him either. It's odd, but early on in Season 2 I half-thought they were taking him in a Daryl Dixon (WALKING DEAD) direction. Taking the asshole, racist prick character and making him not only into a good soldier, but into a decent human...but that went out the window when they actually made his own crew turn on him to support Tom...and yeah I hope having him back means he's just being set up to be a bigger villain that can be taken out and killed later in the season. He sure is a shithead.

Finally managed to get caught up, I had four episodes to watch this week, been pretty busy and had the Olympics to watch!

Safe to say it has been really good, glad that I could watch the eps back to back and glad the story with Locke off Lost didn't get dragged out too much, that had the potential to be very frustrating, thought they were gonna dump them in Charlestown for a few eps but seems to be all going off now!

And the season finale looks quality! Cannot wait!

Half caught up. Good ep for the final push to Charleston. For me it strongly recalled BSG (if you've seen the series you'll know what ep I mean), though not quite as dark. Good character moments, and good to see Porter again.

Gotta say I'm really impressed how this show has improved.

The arm locked circle around the rebels was pretty fucking lame.

It may be dramatic irony, but I can't stand how stupid every military guy is about the goddamn rebellion.

A lot of the stuff during the departure scene was genuinely touching (Weaver + daughter, Tom + son, ex-sergeant + pope and crew)/

Asian guy who was a main character in s1 and barely in s2 just died. Shit.

Ah torturing scene.

Holy god, that was an awesome skitter v skitter fight scene. And tall and thin finally bit it. Heck yes.

Big gun = new aliens? Uh oh.

WTF is up with hal.

My first thought was ally as the fish heads were building a doomsday cannon that was aiming at the sky, hoping to stop the cavalry?

Though then on look back they looked similar to the mighty Overlord Tuna heads!

I cannot wait for season 3, it really picked up with that season there, once they got season one out of the way, got the cast and story established they were able to flourish!

Was somewhat underwhelmed by the Charleston arc, mainly Manchester and Bressler pissed me off. Porter should have been in charge.

Overall wasn't wowed by the finale, but will def stick around for Season 3.
