This is the part where I repeat the question from the title.

What did everybody ask for this xmas?

I asked for all my stuff this year from relatives and relatives-in-law. Mum and dad always pick out great presents being my mum and dad....but the in-laws are desperately unaware of what pleases me in a xmas gift. Basically, it needs "power tool" somewhere in the description and should be of middling-to-high quality. I think it's pretty easy to remember but somehow it always gets confused with "expensive sweater" in their heads.

On my list was a random orbit sander and a shopvac, which I'm pretty sure are in the bag. Not sure about the rest though. I spoiled loved ones with my own gifts...especially the wife.

Should be a good break overall. Lots and lots of drinking, eating, subsequent pooping, playing instruments and building shit in my basement. Stoked.

The same thing I ask for every Christmas. Hookers and blow. One day it WILL be a White Christmas.

Except all this snow has sort of ruined that. Thanks for crushing my dreams, inclement weather.
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

Same as every x-mas. I just tell them to give me the money they would have spent, I know what I want better than they can guess (and that way they'll never know how much I spend on books and 40k :) ).

I asked for an external HDD, Crippled God pre-order and clothes. I don't really want much.

My problem is that my mom always THINKS she knows what I want (which she sees as ugly clothes), instead of what I actually want (something I am interested in at all!). Bless her.

My dad usually goes with a list I send him and gets me the first item on it, cause in his head that's' the thing I must want most.

My GF is always awesome as she knows me best, I usually get books, DVD's or XBox games, tickets to concerts, or something TARDIS-y and Doctor Who related. She pretty much rocks.

When I ask for things from other family (AKA make a list)...it usually books, and or DVD TV sets....rarely anything else.

I asked for some obscure stuff this year though. Like a DVD copy of Fritz Lang's METROPOLIS, and a Criterion copy of Kurosawa's SEVEN SAMURAI.

I asked for wireless headphones for my computer.
Good headphones for my mp3 player.
Gift certificate to Bookstore.
Inception on DVD.
A few other things I don't remember right now.

I suck at making lists though, I really need to make them the whole year long when I see something I want but don't need or can't afford.

My mom already got me my gifts though and this year she did a good job. It took years to get her to understand that I did not want clothes for Christmas it is the worst gift you can give. If you go clothes get the person a gift certificate to a clothing store and let them pick.

I just bought and moved into my first own flat. Cos I have rented up to this point I have never needed to buy things like furniture etc. so I imagine I will be getting lots of very practical but not incredibly interesting things. A new kettle would be good though! :)

Yeah, my mom still doesn't get this...and I'm 33. She still attempt to buy me clothes and they are always hideous....I never wear them, and they sit in the closet unworn until I give them to goodwill.

I tell her every year and she just never learns. I could do the BEST worst clothes fashion show with some of that shit. I'm not kidding.

That said, My grandmother gets me pyjama pants or hoodies every year...and scores every year with good stuff. Apparently the generation from the 1930's can read me better than that of the 1950's...and my grandmother is not really hip and can't program her clock radio....go figure.

Since I kinda have everything (except a shopvac, good call CF!) I just ask for books. I asked for Jim Sanborn's Atomic Time, and the hardcover omnibus of Star Wars: Dark Empire.
OK, I think I got it, but just in case, can you say the whole thing over again? I wasn't really listening.

Thankfully, my mom doesn't attempt to give me clothes for christmas. She usually goes for books, or just gives me money so I can spend it on books. I love her.

That said, I didn't ask for anything from anyone this time and am not really getting anything in turn. Which is cool because it means I don't have to bother with presents, which in turn is a blessing for my financial situation.
Though my mom bought me a load of books two or so weeks ago [she said she'd buy them for herself when I objected about the money, but we both know that's bullshit] so I got her a small present, but that's it.

hat's mum for me. She's all about Sci-Fi. She even got me a TARDIS shaped USB hub that makes the TARDIS noise every time you plug a USB device into it. It's so gloriously nerdy.

I am so excited. It's such a good thing to ask for at Xmas time since they're in that convenient "under 100 bucks" range and they are useful as all-hell. I have one at work that I use more than almost any other tool except maybe my drill.

I am going to spend all holiday sucking things.

Take that to mean whatever you wish.

My step mother does the whole pj pants thing to. It works for many reasons. Lack of diversity in pj pants and I wear them at home.

My mom nailed Christmas this year by buying me two metal tea canisters and a Gargoyle I've named Igor Taface.

I believe she ordered it from BBC store online at some ungodly shipping cost (to get it to Canada from UK or wherever the heck their warehouse is). No idea where else they are available. Thinkgeek might have your answer.

Stonewielder and Towers of Midnight. Always better when someone else can buy the hardbacks! Worked last Christmas too when I asked for Dust of Dreams and The Gathering Storm hardbacks.

I didn't ask for anything, as between my laptop, books, and gaming system, I have pretty much everything I want. I was pleasantly surprised when a Kindle arrived in the mail from Amazon. Very cool, already bought Toll the Hounds on it since I was just about to start rereading that.

I didn't ask for anything for myself. Asked my mother to get some black socks for my father.

This isn't a "do-gooder" impulse. It's just that I pretty much have everything I need or really want, except absurdly expensive stuff (new set of hearing aids) or things that can't be provided to me (my girlfriend not halfway across the world, mastery of Brazilian jiu-jitsu).

Maybe I'll ask for some mustard greens for the bearded dragon I'm taking care of over winter break. The dude is so chill.

If you asked me for this, I would get you a CD from the band Hookers and Blow. Enjoy.

I didn't ask for anything. Anyone I expect any presents from knows what I want, or will do a gag gift to make me laugh.
