She permitted herself a small smile. "The bureaucracy can be made to help. As an honest-to-the-God-Emperor stellar trader, you may experience only the tedious cargo hold examinations and paperwork, but I assure you, with a bit of... encouragement, it can be inspired to work. As for Chaos cultists... you know as well as I that no gang will allow them near them. Because invariably, when the bureaucracy notices" - another smirk - "or should I say, when the bureaucracy finally takes note, it will be extremely thorough in dealing with the problem. A million, or two million deported or gassed to root out the sympathies of a few thousand is standard doctrine." She paused.

By the way, for a simple trade captain, you sure know a lot about smuggling. I also think I haven't introduced myself yet. Ordinatus Kynia G'Kal, Administratum, office of Interstellar Transport. What did you say your ship was?"

the practical part of his mind told him that he needed to fight the past, but the rest of his mind said that killing children was somthing he realy should burn in the warp for
again avoiding all eye contact answering:

Talking to no one in particular, Justinian raised his voice to the point where his burnt throat began to hurt. More a growl than his regular rasp.

"A plan rarely survives contact with the enemy. A complicated plan never does. It is easy to claim knowledge of a place one has never been but in reality all such arrogance accomplished is failure. We are to enter a situation with very little information. To presume one has the ability to enforce order on such a scenario is the sort of hubris that is punishable by death."

Justinian met the captain's gaze and held it. His disfigured face twitched as if attempting to smile through the scarred flesh.

OOC: I'm off for a little while. Thankfully, Justinian is hardly a prolific conversationalist.

Kynia could slap herself for getting into this discussion. It was pathetic, and slightly childish... she wanted out of this conversation but there was no easy way to do so. Her loner mentality had once more surfaced and forced her into a rushed and unproductive discussion, but she needed her freedom to operate according to her own specialism and this man, with his talk of teams and preparation, was undoing any chance of being able to do this rapidly. Since, unfortunately, the only other subject under discussion was a gun that was now being cradled like a just-born baby, she could just hope the captain would cut out of this back-and-forth.

Trying to scare me are you administrator? Good luck, Theres not a scrap of evidence against the Guest. Its all been wiped away, probably by the very people you spend all day saluting whenever your back in the office. Expensive but worth it.

"My ship, dear Ordinatus Kynia G'Kal, of the office of Interstellar Transport in the Administratum, Is the Delightful Guest. A cruise ship for the wealthy, though i have been known to ship cargo if the price is right. If you wish I can supply you with a list of previous passengers, including several System governors, countless officers in your Administratum" he said the word with a sneer. "and various anointed member of the Eclessiarchy.

As for my knowledge of smuggling. I once had the pleasure of entertaining the now famous Prefectus Shatri. Just after he did his stellar work in clearing out the pirates of the Guillaume system for which he has became so well known for. We had many enlightening conversations

about the evils of piracy."

Mainly about how much it would cost Talic to continue to be a pirate, But Talic had managed to use the Prefect to remove most of his competition, and the Prefect used the victories to boost himself into much higher office. A very profitable partnership for all concerned.

Just then, one of the other passengers, a mercenary by the looks of him, spoke up.

Talic shifted his gaze to wards him as he spoke, noticed the danger in his eyes

Just what I needed, A damned killer. And making veiled threats too. I am not a hand to hand fighter. Ive piloted The Guest into more battles than i can count, but to take part in actual personal combat? It would be insanity.

Worried as he was he didn't back down, keeping eye contact, Talic's handsome face took on an expression of mild boredom, which was reflected in his tone, he sounded like he was lecturing a child.

"My dear companion in arms, I have been to this world before. I have been to many a disreputable place like this Sandy's where we will meet the contact. Plans may fail after the first few shots. But If you plan well you will receive results even in defeat."

Travaz stirred in his seat, pistons whirring and joints grinding against each other. The speaker built into his mask rasped, "Ah, I do hope I wasn't ignoring anyone. I assumed this would be the most appropriate time for a autosleep cycle. I'm glad I was correct. Brother Faelus, is it? A pleasure to meet a new brother of the Omnissiah."

OOC: No apologies needed, it is glorious.

"Really, Guardsman?" Travaz turned to him. "I appreciate my face is not what it once was," a bulky servo arm leaned across to pick up Malakai's dateslate from where it had slipped between them, "But I would have thought a tried and tested veteran would hardly be shocked by an Enginseer."

Travaz scanned the rest of the hold, pausing momentarily opposite the tall pale figure and the misleading shape of the Inquisitor, before clanking back into position. "I believe I can understand your apphrension, though, given our current comrades."

She took the Captain's snarl with barely a reaction. He had turned the conversation from tactics to his reputation, and that meant she had touched a nerve. She stored the information for later, and turned her attention to the note-pad. Co-operation would bring her the furthest, she decided. She needed numbers, locations and names before she could do her usual trick, and the Inquisitor was the one who was going to supply it. The Guardsmen and the mercenaries would be useful later on, maybe to bring her to her target, maybe to be a diversion.
The two adepts of the machine cult... who could say what they'd be able to do, or provide? She might need a moment with them, to gauge their worth and efficiency.

Greetings Travaz. It is indeed good to see a fellow of the Adeptus. Did you assimilate any of the conversation during your sleep cycle?

"i am sorry but moving machinery is somthing i have learnd to stay away from on merridian as the gears there are more than capable of crushing a man that is careless and get cought in them, and i have not interaced with many of you kind before..."

*the emperor is good, the emperor is good, the emperor is good *

as the suprise faded, cimsran felt better, and in hindsight felt that the distraction was welcome...

As he turns back to the administrator he sees she has turned to the notepad. Obviously the name drop helped shutting her up. Administrators were always more worried about there carears then the job in hand.
He moved back to his seat before they landed, though he was loathe to approach the Pariah.

"Sadly not, brother Faelus. I prefer to miss most of the chatter that happens on combat drops and allow my cogitators some rest. It's a habit of mine. Rest assured I'll have a private word with you soon."

He clamped a hand on Cimsran's shoulder, and tried to give a reassuring squeeze, though judging by the badly hidden wince on the man's face he'd overdone it. These little rituals were so hard to remember over the glorious methods of utilizing the Omnissiah's gifts, but they were essential parts to working with people, and he needed the practice.

"Don't worry, my friend. The rumours you will have heard are just that. We both work for the betterment of mankind, so you can focus on our task in peace."

Travaz tilted his head back to Faelus, the hood shifting to reveal a few patches of dessicated skin bolted to dull grey plates behind the mask of the Mechanicus. "Did I miss anything relevant while I rested, brother?"

"There seems to be some debate as to our plans once we reach the surface. The starship captain and the lady beside the inquisitor have had a disagreement as to the way forward, both raising some valid points. The captain has suggested some delving into the communications network of the Hive. While I could probably perform this task I was wondering if you might not be better suited?"

"And the Inquisitor said nothing? ...Fascinating." Travaz studied the captain as quietly as his servomotors would allow.

(OOC: Oh god that speech post's font is excruciating to read.)

"Well, I imagine like most private captains he'd want a rush job, and no heed taken of the necessary rites before such an alteration. Still, I have dealt with both civilians and Inquisitors before, wth varying but mostly acceptable degrees of success, so if the Inquisitor accepts this plan I shall see what the comnet has to offer. But only at the pace which the interface's machine spirit allows. You're welcome to observe if you wish."

"I believe once the Inquisitor has decided on a timeline we will be better equipped to plan appropriately. If making contact with our informant is a matter of some urgency, we may have to forgo some advance research - I would not wish any harm to come to a machine spirit and the concerns about a large influx of strangers at the contact point might be valid. If we have some time to prepare, observance of the meeting point and the establishment of a link with the comnet would be to our advantage. My thanks for your offer. Should the time allow I will observe your rites, but I will not pass up the opportunity to observe combat performance if it is offered elsewhere."

"Combat performance? Oh, little brother, I hadn't realised just how new to the Mechanicus you were. We're assisting the Inquisition now, you'll get your chance. Just remember to keep your head down."

Malakai studied the Rune Mechanic for a moment. "Judging by those scars, that shouldn't be a problem. Where did you get your neural augs fitted, if you don't mind me prying?"

Drake was slowly working his rotary between thumb and index during the whole conversation. He'd found it an amusing coincidence that Mr. Starsearch had needed to get up and away to make his speech and subsequent argument with the Ms. G'kal.

After their spat was over with he straightened a bit in his seat and scanned the room.

"I believe our best course of action is somewhere in between all the opinions ventured so far. Mr. Starsearch has a good idea of meeting the contact while having another group hack into the communication grid. Besides, too large a unified group is easier to spot. Ms. G'kal is right to point out several complications of the details of the plan and not wanting to let other resources be ignored. And Mr... *points Justinian* is very correct in the fact that highly organized plans tend to fall apart.
My suggestion is as follows:
We keep the group arrangement suggested by Mr. Starsearch. One group guards the ship, one goes to the bar the other goes for the comm grid and the bureaucracy."

He made a quick scan of the room. Most were listening, as to their facial expressions he didn't care.

"Ms. G'kal made it clear that a whole bunch of strangers barging into a local dive will be a bad idea. My suggestion on this point is that of the group heading to meet the contact only three enter the bar. The rest stay outside. One of the three is going to make contact. The other two stay separate and act as the redundant backup callers. In other words the rest of the group stays outside in the larger more diverse crowd and can be called in quickly. That or we trickle in over the duration of the conversation. Adeptus Cartinor *he nodded to the Priest* should be in this group since it seems to have a higher probability of combat and he himself has said he could provide heavier support if need be.
I find the plan relatively flexible in this case. "

"Group two should go after the comm grid but also try and establish contacts with the local administration. I will venture an assignment opinion here and that is Ms. G'kal should be in charge of that team. Her experience and knowledge would be invaluable in that aspect. She was also very right to say that the administration can help. We cannot disregard any resources here. I assume she can go and get information without having to deal with as much red tape as the rest of us. Also she could manage to bring in support should we need it later. "

*He began working his rotary between his fingers once again.*

"That's about the only modifications I can bring. Of course final approval waits on the Inquisitor. As assignments go well, other than my two suggestions already made I have only two more. Maybe Mr. Starsearch should not be in the same group as Ms. G'kal."
"As to my own assignment, I go where the Inquisitor goes, unless ordered otherwise by the Inquisitor."

He leaned back into his seat and began re reading the mission info as it was.

Faelus looked slightly upset and shifted his cloak higher up his shoulders. He tried his best to look as human as possible, especially in the company of non-Adepts. Although the hatching of small scars on his neck would probably appear to be nothing more than that to someone outside of the order.

"At the Collegia Titanica, they are currently standard issue for all who would enter a research field. Mainly data gathering routines, with one or two extra functions should they be required. If you will excuse me, I think I will engage a sleep cycle of my own - the flight is taking longer than I had anticipated."

OOC: Out for a couple of hours
