In regards to tracks.. i just found out the hard way what happens if you accidentally tip a bucket of water down a mine entrance that has tracks running down to the bedrock.

I was only spending a few minutes on SP too..

Uhm, what happens? does it destroy the tracks?

Yep, one bucket washed down the mine, and even though I scooped up the source block quickly, the rest went down in a big wave... then i noticed the tracks were gone.
I followed it down, and found 8 tracks floating around at the base, but that was it.
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

Nice work CF - subtle. Moons Spawn is looking good too.

Right, so I downloaded the bridge blocks mod after the hallowe'en update but since then the mod has been updated at least twice. Now, whenever I click on the block (even in an attempt to destroy it) it will cause the game to crash.

What I want to do is update the mod with the latest version but to do that I mustn't have any blocks laid in-game (inventory is fine) but, as mentioned above, I can't destroy them without a crash.

I've tried deleting various folders and then having them downloaded again when I open Minecraft but the damned things won't go away. Ideas please -- what do I do?

Do you have the original mod files? Maybe load them and delete all the blocks and then reupdate?

Sorry GP, no idea :D

Right, Bent, time to ask permission to do stuff on your island!

You may recall I planned an underwater tunnel so you could be discreetly linked to the mainland. It is nearly done, as you can see by the dim lights below:

I now need a subtle place to access it from from your end. I had a look around and I though maybe if I made an entrance in the building on the right here:

Let me know if this is acceptable!

I've only got bridge blocks in my portal room, so I suppose I could dismantle the portal, block the room up and just build a new one somewhere...

SWEET SCREENIES! Stupid internet -- I really want to play on the server :D

EDIT: Can someone PM me the server's IP address? I know it won't work, but I'd like to try again anyway.

EDIT2: Jim, are you going to post a map of the server world at all? I'd like to see that!

Sorted -- I had to download MCEdit to delete the blocks. Question now is do I bother downloading the latest mod version?

I think malaz isle is Bent's creation. D`rek is way the fuck out in the ocean to the S.E. past the canal terminal near Traveler`s and HO's place.

nice underwater tunnel by the way. Will have to check that out when I'm online next.

Did you make it a canal or a dry bottom thing for minecarts?

You're right, amended my post accordingly. I associate them both with 'building stuff off the beaten track' as it were :D

I promise to have a crack at the cartographer thingy this by Sunday at the latest.

Also I still haven't implemented the whitelist as it means mucking about with server admin tools :D

If that doesn't work try alt + f4 that should work.

F5 gives you a 3rd person chase camera view a la Tomb Raider.

F1 flips the view around so you see yourself from the front.

Found that out using the patented push-every-button-on-the-keyboard-to-see-what-it-does method.

On the website for MC, where you update your skin (under preferences on minecraft.net) you are also shown a view of your avatar with the new skin you chose (or made) so it's possible to screen cap front and back views from there too.

Making the skin is relatively straightforward and can be done in MS Paint (or the Mac equivalent). Basically anything that lets you edit pixel-by-pixel and save as a .png file.

The base skin is actually available right on the preferences page when you login on minecraft.net. It's a tiny little greenish block that you just "save-as" and edit. I also downloaded a skin-map from google images

Attached File  Skinzones.png (30.28K)
Number of downloads: 0

Which tells you what part of the skin you're editing at what time. It's good to keep your preferences page open alongside MS Paint as you refine your skin. My beta version skin looked like shit, but after some tweaking it came out alright.
