I think I'm going to try and log in later today. I shall take only the intregal pieces of your houses and chests!
No seriously... I have not touched it since it went live, how many times am I going to die?

Many times.
But then again, maybe I'm just shitty at it since I hadn't ramped up gradually to hard difficulty... on single player I'd been playing on peaceful and easy *is embarrassed*.

Probably lots. I died of hunger about 5 times before I could accumulate enough resources to get a proper farm going. It's aggravated by the fact that animals are very sparse (evergreen forest biome) near the spawn.
Lots of us are decently established now and could definitely share farming materials. Melons and bread seem to be the best things for me, but I was lucky and found an underground lake I could exploit for safe farming almost immediately. The spawn region still has lots of room to set up camp and there's a cool mountain biome, prairie biome, hardwood forest biome and a massive ocean biome nearby. Check the map renders upthread (in the last 20 or so posts). Messremb has been updating it periodically.

So 1) The spawn is underwater which is ... interesting
2) I went North of spawn, saw no civilization. I took 32 sticks and 32 cobblestone from the castle that you see when you spawn, which I will return later tonight maybe with extra as an apology.
3) wtb sheepies.

HEY I WANT MY STICKS BACK MOTHERFUCKER
seriously though, take whatevs for basic supplies. I'd advise taking some seeds so you can get a farm going too. Piggies and cows are scarce round these parts.
Hell, move in for a bit and use it as a base if you need to.
No idea what's up with the water spawn. Totally retarded. It used to spawn people in the forest but now it seems to have settled on spawning people underwater in the ocean. I gotta get a platform built out there if I can find the spot new players are dropping in at.
Just be careful of creepers around the castle for godsakes. They pack a punch now and I'm tired of cleaning up the mess.

Yar I'm gone and have set up my mud and wattle hut and primitive egyptian style farmland
I found lots of grass and got some seeds and so on, so I'm good there.
If I build a platform out there, will it spawn people inside or on top or what?

Yeah... the creepers are real nasty around CF's tower... sorry again about your front door.
I should really make a map, as I have no idea where I am now.

I haven't been on for almost a week. I'll hop on this evening and check out what's going on. Need to figure out what to do with my tower, maybe just make it taller for now.

Minecraft.net is down at the moment, if you've logged in already you're fine, else may have to put off playing today. Annoying.

I quickly got fed up with regular cobble structures on the old server. Some smooth cooked stone can do wonders for the look of a place. Takes longer but more satisfying when its done more often than not.
EDIT plus now you can get recoverable smooth stone brick blocks (so misplaced blocks aren't wasted) by stacking 4 in a crafting window at no extra resource cost after you've already cooked the cobble into smooth stone. Makes way nicer walls and gives you a reason to go mining for coal.

I realized I lied about my location. I am straight WEST of spawn (and slightly north) but you can see my lights when you swim straight west of spawn (there is a bit of ocean out there, watch out for sharks)

How is the new server? Did you guys end up resetting? Any reactor meltdowns?

We did reset and as far as I'm aware we are not currently running any mods. I could be wrong but I used the standard minecraft .jar and it is playing fine, and I did not see anything using the mods in CF's castle.
PS, if you decide to play, when you spawn hold spacebar until you aren't drowning, then turn around and swim west and slightly north, you will find my area. You can harvest wheat as long as you replant and use my structures and whatnot to get yourself situated (the dirt one, inside, you cannot be gotten to (look for the ladder), the castle is not complete yet, obviously )

Or swim East and join the rest of us ;-)
No mods are on the server, vanilla MC all the way.
Going to have to take a look into that spawn, whenever I die without a bed I return on the land near CFs place, not sure why people keep ending up in the water.

Jartich spent like an hour and a hundred deaths trying to build a platform, but he kept spawning in different locations apparently.

When I first spawned, I was in the water, but every time after that I've been on land near CF's tower.
