I'm not ok with starting over. Too much time has been spent on this world. No real way to copy all my tunnels. I say we just build a long tunnel in the nether and warp out to fresh territory.

This works for me as well.

I'm ok with starting over, but I understand people who are not as they have spend tens or hundreds more hours working on their stuff than I did.

I don't want to start over either. Somebody said we could edit out regions that were unpopulated. The difference in resource availability between old & new land is significant. not to mention various other features, geography, etc.
HiddenOne. You son of a bitch. You slimy, skulking, low-posting scumbag. You knew it would come to this. Roundabout, maybe. Tortuous, certainly. But here we are, you and me again. I started the train on you so many many hours ago, and now I'm going to finish it. Die HO. Die. This is for last time, and this is for this game too. This is for all the people who died to your backstabbing, treacherous, "I sure don't know what's going on around here" filthy lying, deceitful ways. You son of a bitch. Whatever happens, this is justice. For me, this is justice. Vote HiddenOne Finally, I am at peace.

This.
Besides Winterfell won't be done yet by the time the update arrives. And I'll be damned if my trenches will have been for naught!

Seems a bit much to just start over at this point. What's so hard about travelling to a new area and carrying on there, as we've done with the town?
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

Yeah I'm also for the non-destructive plan, but if we do make sure its a VERY LONG nether walk.

I'm thinking a rail line running a couple thousand blocks through the nether will do it. Just can't go through the portal on the other end until the update!

Remember it's a beta, so there's always the possibility that new 1.8 features won't activate on existing maps. That's betas for you.

What we could do in a worst case scenario is probably generate a new map, then transplant what we've done in tp the area immediately near the spawn point.

Okay, there is now a tailor's next to CF's bakery. If you drop off dyes etc. you can take wool and/or leather. Post here to make requests (ie. blue, red, purple, yellow, and how many of each colour) and I'll do my best to supply.

Nice! I love living so close to the shopping mall!

There is no need to start over, and copy-pasting would be a lot of work at this point.

Town is but one of many projects. I'd like to have a fully communal fort project in our remote 1.8 area...kinda like what we have in the nether. It will be a monstrosity comprised of many different architectural styles, but will be a good adventuring hub. Travel in the nether really covers a lot of overworld ground. Even a rail that went a few hundred blocks (500 or so) would be enough that the 1.8 is suuuuuper far away from anything explored so far. Especially if you head west. We can render a map before deciding which way to go too...but west from town is generally good I think.

Rail thru the nether is a good idea. in fact I started one to connect my field base to town through the nether last night. I'm not super obsessed with finishing it myself (and probably won't have time for the next week) so if somebody wants to they can. Otherwise I'll finish it up later.

I eventually want to dome in the open area connecting the main nether hub to the town extension so I can ride rails all the way back to Castle CF. They need to put pigmen rams on the minecarts though. Anybody know if hitting them will set off their aggression? Turns out drek's old skybridge is a wealth of rails if anybody is looking for some.

Communal fortress sounds great, as well as rails thru nether

I'm thinking I might go exploring. Anything people want me to pick up if I see it? I know Wolfy's all about the clay, but are there any other requests?

I imagine there is such a program, but that would probably mean installing mods and doing all that fancy stuff, what I do is nice and simple. open MS Paint zoom in all the way, on one of the tabs there is an option to turn on/off grid lines, select the circle tool, set it to smallest thickness. make a circle, each block is 1:1 so you can easily work out what size and positioning you'll need to do. ^_^
well thats how I do it, there is probably easier and faster ways to do it but hey.

West is as good a direction as any to head. We should double check to make sure no one has already gone out that way. We can actually get started on the tunnel early, and should so we are ready.
