Don't know if you know this CF, but I'm getting an Apache server window when I try to get to the Map.

So you all can see where I am. My assumption was that we would start the town there and wrap it round the 'bay' to my west?

It would take a bit to level out that rising hill, but I assume with a couple of people working on it we could do it.

If anyone has anywhere better to do it I can go ahead and move, but that appears to be the best place that I can see.

I would suggest leaving topography for the town. It would be nice to have some character. Just chop trees and make some basic street delineations. It can be up to city dwellers to deal with topography as needed / desired.

Or whatevs. Just a suggestion.

I can certainly do that, but that means that people might be re-doing the streets and whatnot if they level out their homes/businesses.

hmm...whatever you like. Leveling is a lot of work if the Azath was any indication.

I think it would add some character to simply make streets follow topography and leave it to the townsfolk to make their buildings fit...kinda like real cities.

Interesting note

The map saves the last known location of all players. I see a lot on there that are most certainly not forum members nor people on the whitelist. The whitelist prevents randoms from popping in now, but the world file must keep track of everybody who was ever online. Neat. I never knew.

We know who the likely suspects are I guess.

Can you spawn me some 1/2 cobblestone blocks so I can start laying the streets? I have enough wood to make fenceposts...

Or I can open a strip-mine beneath the town, idc which, it will just be faster if you spawn the blocks. If people are against that its fine.

you are now an operator. You can use the /give command to get all the stone you need for the special project.

I'll push hard on this tonight so you don't have to leave me as an OP for longer than needed.

Nah fuck it. Use your powers as you wish. Once granted I shan't remove them unless you want me to.

I have thought about the idea of de-opping everybody when the adventure update comes out. It is nice to have a few with the POWER but everybody abuses it eventually - including me.

I dunno. It's a tough chick to put back in the egg once cracked open.

I've been forcing myself to go cold-turkey off my op-powers. It got to the point where I was using the time-set to make sure it was daytime all the time - which kinda ruins the game in a way.

Ruins? Last time this occurred when I was online I thought it great. A welcome relief to those working in the wilds. Now, doing this all the time would definitely make things dull, but once in a while would be fine.

Lots of Lots for sale. Not really; as far as I know they are free. Take a look at some of these. Each lot is 40x40 (if we've actually managed to count them properly).

If you did not help build the lots, and you want one, come claim one, and ask an op to spawn some blocks and fences for you to expand to replace the lot you take.

Lots are 40x40 INSIDE the fences.

We need to be careful about building roads between lots so they don't get blocked off. THe main road is nice, but we need side streets.

I surfaced a tunnel to the rail line by the town, it comes out at x2701 z1846. Unfortunately this is right between two potential lots, which may mean the rail station will get two lots. It's a public building though, and we had said those could get two.

Are we allowing cheating on people's individual houses, or just public works like the road? BEcause there is an awful lot of brick all of the sudden.

I will be playing off and on for the next five hours. Awesome.

I won't claim a lot just yet. I have a small side project on the go and promised to help with the star fort up north. I expect to delve into MC a lot more this winter when I have more free time.

I want to thank Messremb, A Demon Llama, and RLY, and Hodor(I don't remember your malazanname, sorry!) for doing a lot of work on the town and helping put together the streets and whatnot.

@RLY I cheated the hell out of my house. I'm going to finish the shell tonight then start working on the 'main' building. I was thinking of making it a train station like how Grand Central is in the movies, with the portal being out of a subway and then having the top level connect to our above ground railroad.

If anyone has anything they want included in it, let me know sometime today.

If you have a travel hub and a town hall, that's a pretty good start. Maybe reserve a lot somewhere else for a nice town park....with fountains.

I was going to build a working lighthouse out in the bay... but that might be in a bit.

Please look up how to make piston lighthouses on youtube before starting.

They are very awesome and look fantastic once you get them functioning.
